My son has been attending the nursery for nearly two years and is extremely happy and developing well. I feel this is due to the exceptionally capable and professional staff who look after him. They are engaging, supportive in his development and have a very much can do attitude.
Lovely preschool which my daughter actively looks forwards to going to. Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Exeter, Sowton have been a great support during this difficult Covid-19 time. They have managed it without penalising or compromising on the children’s enjoyment!
Just wanted to say how impressed we have been with the staff at Kiddi Caru, Sowton in Exeter. Despite challenging times for everyone, they are always happy to see the children, professional and informative with parents and clearly an extremely dedicated and professional team. Our son absolutely loves attending twice per week. Well done Kiddi Caru, Sowton in Exeter, thank you and keep up the great work.
Another issue is the nursery charges childcare on January 1st if your nursery day falls on that day,
despite it being their decision to be closed!
Lastly, the intercom to get in can have quite a delay. They seem to not be very well staffed during peak drop off and collection times. And if the children move classes, this is not communicated, which means you can spend a long time buzzing all rooms to figure out where your child is.
My son has attended this preschool for two years now and although I was very impressed when he started, I feel that the level of care has diminished. Examples include clothing getting lost, poor handovers, child coming out of preschool with wet feet and clothes (in winter) and just a feeling that the level of 'care' has diminished.
I hope this improves over the coming year, but for now, I can't recommend this preschool.
Amazing nursery and I feel very comfortable dropping my son off there for the day. They have great activities, amazing food and a wonderful outside area that he loves. Price point is a bit higher considering but having the recap at the end of the day and seeing how happy he is after returning, its definitely worth it. Just be prepared for the shift to "upstairs" as it gets a bit crazy - but since they're all toddlers at that stage it's hardly surprising.
My little boy had recently been diagnosed with Autism and can be a little “extra” on occasions but the staff there take it all in their stride and they really celebrate all of his achievements with us. He will be leaving to go to school in September and I’m gutted as I know that I’ll never find a group of people that care about him so much again.
It would be nice if we knew what they did throughout the day (Bracken and Preschool Room) the paper filing assessment system seems time-consuming and outdated. An online system would be instant and allow the nursery to show off what they do. It’s difficult to have a long chat with staff during busy pick up times.
The boys have some great habits which the nursery have installed- trying different foods, table manners and independence.
Overall, we’re happy with the nursery.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Fabulous staff and my child thoroughly enjoys being part of the nursery
My daughter started at Kiddi Caru in Sept 2019 and really loves going to nursery. The staff are all very friendly and really engage with the children. I am so happy I chose this nursery as I don’t worry at all about my daughter as I know she is happy and settled. The food is really good and the children do a wide range of activities. I love reading her diary to see what she has been up to each day.
Staff have made my child feel very happy and settled when moving to the nursery. He is happy to go now which is something new and comes out with a smile on his face and stories to tell.
This is a fantastic caring and educational environment. What makes this nursery is the team. All of the staff are amazing. They go the extra mile and offer great support to parents. A testament of what a great place this is, is their staff retention. My daughter went to this nursery 10 years ago and most of her key carers are still there and are now looking after my son who attends. Overall a lovely setting with amazing people would highly recommend.
My daughter attended from the age of 14 months until starting school. All the staff treat the children with care and kindness. It has been so reassuring knowing that my daughter was in a safe environment. Thank you.
I would not recommend friends or family here anymore.
We are sorry to read that you are not entirely satisfied with our nursery in Exeter, please remember our nursery management team’s door is always open if you have any concerns you wish to discuss, and we would encourage this to ensure that you are happy with the service we provide.
I would prefer that we could book a couple of weeks leave a year as it’s expensive and you still have to pay on set days even when you aren’t attending.
I’d like to have a bit more details about what the children have eaten, done, photos in the same kind of way that they do in the baby/under twos rooms. I know some nurseries do tapestry maybe this could be looked into as an option.
The staff are generally very caring and nice.

My only negative would be that having to pay full price for bank holidays or if we take a holiday seems a bit steep.
Staff, on the whole, are very friendly and my kids will go to them with no fuss in the mornings. The staff also seem to know all the kids really well even if they're not in their room.

Our daughter has been going to the nursery for about a year and a half from 12 months old. Overall we have had no problems and are very happy with her experience there. She has enjoyed her time at nursery, made lots of friends, done lots of different activities and experienced lots of new things she doesn't get to try at home, like lots of messy play, a giant sandpit, outdoor games and group activities like French.
The staff are great with the kids and seem to control them well. The food offered is especially good: varied and healthy. The toys, books and games are safe, good quality, clean, plentiful and rotated to keep things new, with themed weeks and cultural exploration. She never says she doesn't want to go to nursery and is always in a great mood when she's picked up.
If I have one complaint, it is that the individual development plans are weaker after the age of 2, but I think that's due to the staff ratios at that point rather than staff desire.
Overall, excellent.

This is an outstanding nursery and one we would not hesitate to recommend. My son loves going and has a brilliant time where he doesn't stop doing different activites all day so is really tired when we go and pick him up. The office staff are really helpful and friendly and the nursery staff are brilliant, taking a real interest in our son's development and care. He has recently moved rooms due to his age and whilst he has not loved the transition (he really liked his key worker in his old room), the staff have been great about settling him in and making it as easy as possible.
I was recommended by a few parents in the area, and from the minute we met the staff, to the first settle in, and the first day, they've got to know my daughter really well, they've taken the time to see where she lacks and also what she loves. They keep me really updated with her diary and when I pick her up. She's always well fed, clean and absolutely shattered. Her bag is always full of dirty clothes, which is a sign of a brilliant day! I'd highly recommend this nursery, it's absolutely fantastic.
Both my children have attended and I have been watching them grow with confidence and independence. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel you can approach them with any queries you may have. I feel absolutely confident leaving both of them in their care and would highly recommend this nursery to any other parent.
