A welcoming and inspiring nursery in Great Cornard.

Situated in a purpose-built building and located close to Thomas Gainsborough School, off the Wells Hall Road, Great Cornard Day Nursery and Preschool supports and cares for children from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

Each spacious and homely room has been designed to inspire learning at every opportunity. Children enjoy using the building blocks, painting in the art area, discovering how the world works with science experiments, using the indoor climbing frames, reading in the book corner and playing exciting word and number games. There is a sensory room for use by all ages, where children can relax while learning about different sounds and textures. Every feature is designed to inspire children’s natural curiosity and use their interests as the basis for learning.

Outdoors, Great Cornard nursery features separate age-appropriate gardens with space for the children to play and develop their gross motor skills. Favourites include the slide, balance equipment and the covered outdoor seating area.

Bright Horizons unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well-established Boogie Mites active music-making programmes.

My son absolutely loves his nursery, the staff and activities. We were undecided on nurseries until we visited Crocus. The staff are amazing, enthusiastic, caring and get to know the children well. I feel confident my son is well cared for and happy. They provide a lovely variety of fresh foods to suit
his dietary requirements and provide him with activities that keep him stimulated and enhanced his development. I would definitely recommend Crocus and I will be very sad when he finishes his time there.

The team are very friendly and supportive. I was extremely happy with my son's experience in the Joey Room and this has continued now he has transitioned into the Lambs Room.
It is very clear that my son loves his time at nursery.

My daughter had 2 years at Crocus before going into primary school. The way the staff helped my daughter develop was invaluable especially in her transition to primary. She still goes now to after school club and school holidays. The staff are very professional, caring and attentive. The important thing
is also that my child loves going to Crocus as she has lots of fun but also learns a lot.

All 3 of my children have attended Crocus. I can not recommend the nursery highly enough.
The staff are always friendly and tell me how my children's day has been.
The management is always willing to help out where possible, give extra sessions on short notice, are always welcoming and know the children
as well as the staff in the rooms.
My children have always been happy going to nursery and come home with lots of new information and skills they have learnt throughout the day.

We are delighted with the development of our son since starting at Great Cornard Crocus Early Years Centre. He has been with the nursery for two years and two months and we are convinced his learning and development, plus his social skills have improved immeasurably because of his time there and his

My twins have been with Crocus Early Years for 4 weeks now and I'm very impressed. They have settled in extremely well. No tears, not even on settling in sessions. Been extremely helpful with potty training my daughter.

Staff at Crocus are always willing to accommodate my child at the last minute if our shifts are changed. They genuinely seem happy to see my child each time she attends.
new staff are very friendly and keen to build a rapport with my child, who sometimes struggles to be left.
My only criticism would
be that, depending on who I speak to, I'm always told that my child's had a good day, and settled quickly, when other staff may suggest that she's been unsettled. I'd rather know exactly how she's been, so I can manage any issues (she no longer has a blue book - shame!).

Both of my children have attended Crocus, my eldest is now in year 1, my youngest is three.
It is a safe, friendly environment and my boys enjoy their time there, especially the extra activities such as ball skills and dancing, they love those!
It's a great place for them to learn social skills and
how to interact with others, and my son loves 'his ladies' or 'his girls' - the lovely nursery assistants!

Crocus nursery is by far the best nursery in the town where I live. They know exactly how to attend and develop any child's needs. Since my son has started there he has learnt so much and developed so well so fast. I am so proud of the great job they are doing with my son. The staff there are absolutely

Great Cornard Crocus Early Years Centre is where I send my two-year-old son and four-year-old daughter. It is in my view an absolutely outstanding nursery. The staff are so friendly and kind. They are hardworking and I wouldn't trust anyone else to look after my children. The cleanliness of the place
is brilliant too!

My 19-month-old son is extremely happy within the nursery.
The lunch menu is superb and varied. Toys are age appropriate and daily activities are fun and educational. The staff are friendly, approachable and interact well with the children.

Crocus is fantastic. My son loves going to nursery and loves all of the staff. As a parent, I am kept well-informed and find all of the staff very approachable. It is a lovely home-from-home environment and I have no worries leaving my son here with the lovely ladies.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I am the Nursery Manager for Great Cornard Bright Horizons and I have been working in childcare since 1998.


Prior to working here, I worked at another nursery in the baby room and then I worked at a private school, running the baby unit. My career here started as a Room Leader working in a baby room. I was promoted to Nursery Manager after having my second child. I have been working at Bright Horizons Great Cornard since 2003, becoming manager in 2008. I have a Level 4 Qualification in Early Years Practice and have completed my Customer Services NVQ 2 qualification. I am passionate about my 3 children and my weekends consist of taking the boys to football and rugby. I enjoy socialising and meals out with friends and family.

I am the Nursery Deputy Manager for Great Cornard Bright Horizons. I have been working in childcare since 2014 and started my journey here at Great Cornard Bright Horizons in 2020 as a Nursery Nurse.


After 8 months I was promoted to Room Leader, then after 2 years in 2022 I was promoted to Deputy Manager. I have a Level 3 in Children’s Play, Learning and Development, and a Level 4 qualification in Early Years.
