A welcoming and inspiring nursery in Great Cornard.

Situated in a purpose-built building and located close to Thomas Gainsborough School, off the Wells Hall Road, Great Cornard Day Nursery and Preschool supports and cares for children from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

Each spacious and homely room has been designed to inspire learning at every opportunity. Children enjoy using the building blocks, painting in the art area, discovering how the world works with science experiments, using the indoor climbing frames, reading in the book corner and playing exciting word and number games. There is a sensory room for use by all ages, where children can relax while learning about different sounds and textures. Every feature is designed to inspire children’s natural curiosity and use their interests as the basis for learning.

Outdoors, Great Cornard nursery features separate age-appropriate gardens with space for the children to play and develop their gross motor skills. Favourites include the slide, balance equipment and the covered outdoor seating area.

Bright Horizons unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well-established Boogie Mites active music-making programmes.

All-inclusive fees mean that you have less to pack on a busy morning, with everything from healthy lunches and snacks to branded nappies and wipes included.

My daughter has been going to Bright Horizons Great Cornard for just over two years. The nursery is fantastic, the staff are friendly and really care about the children they look after. They have educational toys in every room as well as an outside play area for every room too. The app they use is great,
you can view what your child has had to eat that day and how much, pictures from the day and observations. Both on the app and in person you get so much detail from the staff of what your child has been up to. It’s been so lovely watching my daughter develop and enjoy spending time with the other children and the staff. The staff work with the children so much to help get them ready for primary school and are happy to talk about the areas that your child excels in as well as the ones they need more help with. Highly recommend.

My daughter attends this setting and she asks me every night if she is going to nursery tomorrow. She is able to express her thoughts and ideas at nursery and the practitioners enhance these by creating activities based around her interests. The nursery has a fantastic sensory room for children to relax
and explore and high-quality chefs on-site that create healthy, wholesome meals for the children. My daughter tells me she only likes nursery crumble. Everyone is very welcoming and the managers made the signing-up process easy. Thank you Bright Horizons Great Cornard Day Nursery and Preschool.

What a wonderful place to play and grow. Both our children adore going to nursery. There are so many creative, engaging and exciting activities available throughout the week.

My son is obviously extremely happy at Bright Horizons Great Cornard Day Nursery and Preschool and we are too. The staff are always so helpful and friendly. The updates and photos on the app are great. We are very confident that my son is very well looked after at nursery.

I cannot praise the staff enough, the time and effort they put into providing a fun, educational environment that caters to all children is outstanding. Not to mention all the staff are friendly, polite and engaging.

Our daughter has been going to Bright Horizons in Great Cornard for three years. It's been lovely to see the development and enjoyment our daughter has had in those years. Establishing some amazing relationships with peers and staff which has supported transitions between rooms over time. Food has been
an area that needed support due to allergies and limited preferences, and with time, patience, encouragement, creative ideas and low pressure, the variety of food our daughter eats has grown really well.
The alternative options make our daughter feel included and not left out. There is a lovely atmosphere and multiple times of engaging with the local community such as visits from police and fire services and having fairs such as a Christmas fairs. Always amazing things to engage in activity and resource-wise with opportunities to take things home for consistency.

Although I've put down my review as relating to February 2023, this is for the duration that my child has been with the nursery (over a year). On the whole, this nursery is very good. The staff are friendly and genuinely care about the children they look after. It's been really gratifying to see my
child develop and have fun with the other children and the staff. You can tell they really get to know each child on a personal level. The app they have is a great feature to see how your child is really getting on there.
We've had some historical issues with the nursery that were ultimately caused by matters they didn't have much control over (staffing during the pandemic, broken heating, and a roof leak). These issues did mean that my spouse and I needed to take time off work at short notice on a few occasions. However, these issues have been rectified, we haven't had anything like them occur again recently, and the communication from the nursery has always been great. Highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant, flawless experience with this wonderful nursery. The staff are so, so lovely and are so well educated, on how to ensure they are all able to provide the unique details to my child's nursery experience in order to fulfil the developmental needs she has, whilst supporting her as
she is growing as her own individual self and also as she is learning specific skills she will need when she moves on to primary school. The level of support and encouragement she receives, alongside receiving all of the developmental observations and updates, fills me with complete confidence that she will be able to transition smoothly into primary school, when the time comes. This also reassures me of any developmental acceleration/deceleration, so we can address together as a parent/setting team. Furthermore my daughters key worker has been brilliant from day one, in keeping me posted of anything my daughter gets up to in her day. She has been the friendly face, welcoming her in.

Every member of staff is superb and so caring and supportive of not just our son, but all the children in their care.
Our son adores going and asks daily when he is going back to nursery!

My child loves coming to Crocus, he has made a little group of friends who he will be moving to big school with. This has eased his worries about moving on to primary school a lot. He regularly says 'mummy pick me up late' so he must be loving it!
He has a real soft spot for two members of staff in
particular and I know he will miss coming when he leaves in July.
He loves doing yoga and playing outside.

We have been really pleased with both our kids attending Bright Horizons Great Cornard Day Nursery and Preschool. All the staff we have met have been really friendly, professional and helped our children settle in quickly. The communication from the nursery is excellent, I like the regular emails to
keep us up to date and I love the daily communication books the staff use. It's lovely to also receive artwork from my older son's room. My older son went to a different nursery before and we never got things sent home or a communication book, so this is a real plus. I like the educational focus the boys get from nursery and the fact they can socialise with others their age. The activities they've completed have sounded good. The opening times are great and work for us a family. I enjoyed being able to see the nursery firstly on a video and then during an open day. My only areas for improvement would be what the nursery looks like from the outside and perhaps improving the range of outdoor equipment and toys.

My two year old has been attending Bright Horizons Great Cornard Day Nursery and Preschool since she was eight months old and absolutely loves it. She enjoys mark making as well as role play activities and the nursery helps her develop these. She looks forward to the days she is in nursery, the staff

My daughter was very anxious about going back to nursery but all of the staff dealt with both our worries and anxieties very well and now she loves nursery. The nursery also provides a weekly activity booklet full of little tasks and fun things to do as well as fun little tasks they can do at home based
upon what they have been learning about during the week. The nursery staff are always welcoming and happy to help with any concerns. I would and do often recommend this nursery.

My daughter really loves going to the nursery. She has only been there for a few months and she has come on so so well. With her speech numbers etc. And her eating and trying new foods has definitely improved because of the staff. The staff are very friendly and polite. The best thing is that my daughter

The staff are excellent, really warm and enthusiastic.
They have tried their best during the pandemic to make sure the children don't miss out and are well cared for.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I am the Nursery Manager for Great Cornard Bright Horizons and I have been working in childcare since 1998.


Prior to working here, I worked at another nursery in the baby room and then I worked at a private school, running the baby unit. My career here started as a Room Leader working in a baby room. I was promoted to Nursery Manager after having my second child. I have been working at Bright Horizons Great Cornard since 2003, becoming manager in 2008. I have a Level 4 Qualification in Early Years Practice and have completed my Customer Services NVQ 2 qualification. I am passionate about my 3 children and my weekends consist of taking the boys to football and rugby. I enjoy socialising and meals out with friends and family.

I am the Nursery Deputy Manager for Great Cornard Bright Horizons. I have been working in childcare since 2014 and started my journey here at Great Cornard Bright Horizons in 2020 as a Nursery Nurse.


After 8 months I was promoted to Room Leader, then after 2 years in 2022 I was promoted to Deputy Manager. I have a Level 3 in Children’s Play, Learning and Development, and a Level 4 qualification in Early Years.
