A BEAUTIFUL HOME-FROM-HOME NURSERY IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA OF WOKING

Teddies Woking Day Nursery is designed to support your child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years.
Set in a welcoming refurbished house, the light, airy nursery features a large garden with plenty of themed learning spaces. Babies have their own area while over-twos can enjoy the home corner complete with wooden playhouse, or explore the trees in a bug hunt. The lean-to guarantees fresh air even in rainy weather.
Baby and toddler rooms are vibrant and enriching, with sensory areas and play equipment to spark the imagination. Preschoolers benefit from an enriching Ready for School programme that gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

Teddies Woking understands the importance of family connection. Staff permitting, if there are siblings from different age groups in the nursery, they encourage bonding by bringing the siblings to play together.

The nursery in Woking is conveniently located ten minutes’ walk away from Woking Stations, close to amenities but set back from the traffic of the city centre. The all-inclusive fees include formula milk, nappies, wipes and all meals and snacks, meaning you have less to pack on busy mornings.

My son was very timid when he joined Teddies, but over the last two years, his learning curve is really good. He is more active since he joined nursery and socialises himself well. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

My son feels safe because of good security to get into nursery. He loves the staff. He keeps talking about the staff at home. He roleplays his day at nursery at home and pretends to be the staff. He enjoys playing with his friends. I know he is really happy at nursery.

Both of my children have attended Teddies ad we have been happy with the care they have received. The staff are friendly and helpful and always looking for ways to improve the nursery.

I am very happy with this nursery. We used it in the past as well for our daughter. The reason we had to go to a different nursery is because we moved house, but now we are back in the area we are happy to place our daughter back in.


I already noticed an improvement in my daughter's behaviour and

language.

Both our boys have had very positive experiences from attending Teddies from the age of twelve months up to school age. The childcare staff are excellent and there are certain long-serving staff members who have been adored by both my sons. Staff are responsive to the individual needs of my sons.


The

recent refurbishment has really brightened up the large light rooms.


When my eldest son was in his last few months in pre-school prior to starting school, I did feel activities could have been made slightly more challenging to help him get ready for school and stop him getting bored. I do appreciate this is difficult with the pre-school children's ages spanning two years.


Additional ad-hoc days are extremely expensive.


We have not had any reason to consider alternative childcare in nearly 5 years.

A great nursery where my daughter has been very happy since she started there at 18months old (she leaves this month to go to school). The staff are the nursery's biggest asset and are really caring. The big rooms and garden are all positives. We all feel at home there.

The staff (childcare) at Teddies are wonderful. They take the time to understand your child, and all the staff know all the children from different rooms. The garden play is the best element, and I love that they are committed to going out twice a day, regardless of the weather.
However, it's a shame
staff turnover is so high. The admin/management is the weak point and we have considered moving to another nursery because of this. Communications are poor quality and bill payment is a monthly issue. Simple steps could improve the management - parent relationship. However, the childcare staff compensates for this.

Teddies is expensive.
Areas to improve on:
- More learning activities (example: children should try and tell stories).
- More rhymes.
- More variety in food, like yoghurt and rice.
- Get more bikes in the garden.

Our eldest daughter began Teddies a year ago and she absolutely loves it at nursery. Her eating has really improved and she has made lots of friends and grown so much in terms of development and self-confidence. The staff are really lovely, calm and so warm and friendly. always approach the children

Teddies is always the best for me. Staff are extremely good. My son has thoroughly enjoyed learning here during this time.

I was very impressed with Teddies Nurseries from the first day of being shown around and continue to be impressed so much so that I am also sending my second child there. The staff are great, friendly and you genuinely feel safe that the kids are well looked after. From management through to the chef
there's almost a family feel of everyone doing their best. Looking after children is a tough job and I've great respect for the team especially when there is so much paperwork. It's great that the food is cooked fresh onsite with a wide variety on the menu and that the kids have a good outdoor space to run around.

Overall my children (1) and (3) seem happy at teddies. The staff are great with them.
My main item of feedback is the lack of interesting/exciting activity. There is plenty of painting/colouring/playing, cooking club and science activities like planting flowers but I do feel that with such a large
number of activities in easy reach of the nursery that some outings etc could be organised to break the kiddies out of their weekly routine a bit. For example the light box always offer storytimes, messy play, treasure hunts and other children's activities, the library offer chides sessions, the wwf building offer activities and learning sessions for all ages and there is a large green space where sports day type activities or a lunchtime picnic could be organised. I appreciate it is a challenge ratio wise but it's such a shame they miss out on so much so close to the nursery building! I'm sure parents would volunteer to chaperone on outings for a few hours if consulted.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2004

I have been with Teddies Woking as a Nursery Manager since January 2004. I have previously worked at the nursery as the Room Leader of our Baby Room and then as Deputy Manager after joining the nursery in November 1998.

I am NNEB qualified and completed my training at Guildford College, gaining my qualification in 1991. Since qualifying I have worked in daycare and have enjoyed meeting many families and watching the children in my care grow and learn while developing my skills and progressing to my current role.

I have been here at Teddies since 2021 and joined as the deputy manager, since joining the team here at Teddies I have supported babies and toddlers. I am level 3 qualified in both childcare and management and I have worked in childcare for 11 years in a range of roles starting as a practitioner up to management.


Childcare is my passion and since becoming a parent myself this has only grown as I feel I can really connect to parents on a different level. I look forward to the future here at Teddies by watching the children learn and grow into their own individual personalities.
