A welcoming and nurturing nursery in Boxgrove, Guildford

Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove is a welcoming day nursery and preschool in Guildford and supports children’s development from the age of three months to five years.

The nursery has great links to public transport and is only a 5-minute drive to Guildford town centre and London Road (Guildford) Station.

The team at the nursery understands it can be an adjustment to settle into nursery life, for both adults and children.

This is why the nursery offers up to eight weeks of settling-in sessions. These sessions give everyone an opportunity to be properly welcomed into the Bright Horizons family and allow the team to get to know every family.

With all-inclusive fees, meaning less to pack on a busy morning, the onsite meals are prepared with nutrition in mind. From healthy lunches and snacks to chosen branded nappies and wipes included in the fees.

To give children the energy they need to grow, experiment in the science lab and create in the art room, Bright Horizons provide them with delicious and nutritious meals every day.

These are prepared within the nursery by its own in-house chef using fresh ingredients.

The nursery has been awarded an Ofsted rating of ‘good’ for its commitment to high quality childcare and education (February 2019).

Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove is excited to be part of every child’s journey.

I feel so lucky to have my youngest attending this nursery. My eldest also attended for 3 years and stills talks fondly about his time there.

The staff are all lovely. Everyone is genuinely interested in the children and their families, they are great with communication and also really flexible and

willing to help as much as they can with anything.

Both our children have gone through this nursery and both have loved it. What we especially like was that the staff have been consistent and in many cases, the same people have worked with both children over a seven-year period. There was a bit of a problem with our youngest being subjected to some
unfriendly behaviour by one or two other preschoolers but this was managed adequately. Overall, very happy with our experience and would highly recommend. Not cheap but you get "the feeling" here that you need for your child.

My son has been with this nursery since he was a year old and is now going up to the pre-school room. Each room transition has been so smooth and the staff have been great at communicating this with us and my child has loved every room. The staff retention at the nursery is amazing! Almost all staff
have been here for a very long time meaning that there are lots of familiar faces for my son to see each day. His key worker has always been consistent in each room, and he has already had an opportunity to build a relationship with all of the staff in pre-school before he moves to the room, which will hopefully help this transition to be as smooth as possible. The learning opportunities given in this nursery are amazing, my son is able to explore a variety of different activities every day meaning that he never gets bored, and is always telling me all about the fun he has on our way home each day! I always feel comfortable dropping my son here, I feel that he is loved here by all the staff.

Our son has been with the Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove Day Nursery and Preschool for about a year now and he loves it! We have seen him continuously learning and developing, as well as making his first little friends. The staff are fantastic and we would not hesitate to recommend the nursery to
anyone!

My son has recently joined Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove Day Nursery and Preschool and is getting on very well. Just in these months he's learned so much and has become so confident with his speech. He's made amazing friendships. He's also become very independent with things such as potty training
and wanting to help other children.

The lovely staff in the Tiggywinkles room made my little one feel so comfortable and really supported both of us to settle in following a change of nursery. It's a very friendly and child-centred nursery.

My son just graduated from nursery and we couldn't be happier with the love and care he received at Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove Day Nursery and Preschool. Even when things unexpectedly changed such as needing to pick him up a little later the team were very flexible and accommodated us. Big thank
you to the Preschool team!

You have been amazing! Everyone at the nursery is nice and caring. I feel my girl is in safe hands and we never had any issues. I know it cannot be true but it feels like they all love my daughter.
We’ll be missing this fun place.

My daughter has been in this preschool for a year now. She’s very happy here. The staff are amazing, caring and professional. I absolutely appreciate the hard work they put in. It will be sad for my little one graduating in two months. We will be missing this place!

We are so happy we moved our child here after a flooding incident at our previous nursery. The staff retention is excellent and this has huge benefit for the children in that there is continuity and reliability in the care. It also indicates to me that staff are happy and the management team are doing
a great job.
My child has developed confidence while at Bright Horizons, Guildford Boxgrove. The staff are very kind and really care for the children. The staff and management are very communicative and organised.
I appreciate so many things, such as when they paint, aprons are put on, meaning clothes aren’t permanently stained. Clothing and other items never go missing. They put me at great ease when potty training.
At Christmas, they created prints for Christmas cards and tea towels and they make some very cute things for Mother’s Day, Easter, Chinese New Year and etc. It’s a truly wonderful nursery.

We found this nursery by accident as they had to move us from another nursery to deal with an emergency water burst, and even though this nursery is way further away than our original nursery, I loved everything about it. Even though we were just guests to start with, we were greeted very warmly by
all staff. The manager introduced herself and other members of staff (you would think this is normal practice, but actually a lot of other nurseries lacked that kind of manners), I made a decision to move my son to this nursery permanently from September 22 (he was 13 months back then), and I never regretted this decision despite 30min plus drive.
My son is thriving in there. He learned so much in there eg, blow kisses, eating with the spoon, dancing, doing the action to songs, loves contact with other people, they do so many activities in there, have fantastic facilities and a huge garden.
I loved seeing the kitchen staff knowing his name and making him giggle! All these people seem to love their job.

Our daughter settled in well, despite the longer hours we sent her for, which shows she is happy to be there. She is happy going in and when returning home, she is always clean when we pick her up and seems happy/confident around the staff. We have no complaints or issues with the nursery or staff and
would recommend it to friends.

Second son to attend Bright Horizons and could not be happier. Staff really care about the development and wellbeing of my children, communicate with us frequently and work well with us on key and specific areas of development e.g. my son is currently receiving support for his speech and the staff in
his room are actively supporting the speech therapists plans.

I love this nursery and I will miss it when my child graduates to attend primary school. The staff are truly caring and nurturing and have been an absolute treasure throughout all the changing requirements of the pandemic. Safety measures were quickly and efficiently introduced and we are pleased that
there has not been an occasion when the whole nursery or even my child's group has had to stay home because of any Covid exposures. My child continues to be stimulated and engaged in multiple subjects and thoroughly enjoys "pre-school days". The teachers inspire interest in lots of different cultures, languages, subjects and I learn new things from my child through their activities. I absolutely recommend this nursery very, very highly.

My son has been attending the nursery for the last 9 months. He struggled to settle at first as expected but the team at the nursery were amazing. They kept me up to date continuously and did everything possible to make him feel at home. He is now completely settled and adores the team. They are great
with him. He always comes home with stories of how much fun he had at school.

I’m really happy with the nursery. The staff are so welcoming and caring against my child. My son loves his teachers, he never cries in the morning and happily goes in. I do get regular feedbacks how he is doing, and I really feel he’s being looked after very well. I am thankful to everyone.

A great nursery! The staff have offered a really good service and every day our daughter came she always left with a smile. On the days when she didn't want to leave our side the staff always made fun ways for the children to leave and then they were fine. I'd recommend this nursery.
Special thanks

My son came to the nursery at 3 months old. It has been a pleasure for him to be here. He has had consistency with the care he has received, the one to one he has received has been exceptional! A special mention one member of staff who was our son's baby lead when he joined at 3 months and who has been
a constant source of support and help us all through is learning journey! Thank you to everyone.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.754)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.754) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.866 for Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (192 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.866
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.888 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 96 number of registered child places is 19.2. 18 Positive Reviews ÷ 19.2 = 0.938
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Clare

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 1999

Clare has been passionate about working with children since 1999 when her own four children were in school. She began her journey in education as a teaching assistant, midday supervisor, and after-school playworker, gaining valuable experience in supporting children’s learning and development.

Eager to expand her knowledge, she completed an access to teacher training course in 2005, alongside earning her GCSEs in biology and English. She went on to achieve a foundation degree in early childhood studies in 2009, followed by a BA (Hons) in early childhood studies in 2010.

After spending time working in a local school, she joined a nursery as a nursery nurse in the toddler room. Her love for early years education and commitment to nurturing young children quickly led to a promotion and in June 2012, she became preschool principal. In this role, she spent nearly two years creating a warm and engaging environment where children could thrive, grow in confidence, and feel ready for their next big step into school.

With years of experience in early childhood education, she is dedicated to making every child’s nursery experience a positive and enriching one, supporting both children and their families along the way.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Amy, also know as Toff, is been a valued member of the Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove team since October 2018. When she first joined, she had no experience in early years education, but with the support of the wonderful team, she quickly discovered her passion. This led her to complete her Level 3 Early Years Education qualification through Bright Horizons.

As she gained experience, Amy progressed to Room Leader, a role she truly loved. She enjoyed caring for the children, supporting families, and working closely with her colleagues. During this time, she also took on the role of Nursery SENCO, a position she is incredibly passionate about. She finds it deeply rewarding to see the growth and progress of the children receiving SEND support.

In August 2024, Amy became Deputy Nursery Manager, a role that allows her to work with all age groups, support the staff team and build strong relationships with families. She is dedicated to ensuring every child receives the best possible care and is always happy to support parents and carers throughout their nursery journey.
