Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove is a welcoming day nursery and preschool in Guildford and supports children’s development from the age of three months to five years.

The nursery has great links to public transport and is only a 5-minute drive to Guildford town centre and London Road (Guildford) Station.

The team at the nursery understands it can be an adjustment to settle into nursery life, for both adults and children.

This is why the nursery offers up to eight weeks of settling-in sessions. These sessions give everyone an opportunity to be properly welcomed into the Bright Horizons family and allow the team to get to know every family.

With all-inclusive fees, meaning less to pack on a busy morning, the onsite meals are prepared with nutrition in mind. From healthy lunches and snacks to chosen branded nappies and wipes included in the fees.

To give children the energy they need to grow, experiment in the science lab and create in the art room, Bright Horizons provide them with delicious and nutritious meals every day.

These are prepared within the nursery by its own in-house chef using fresh ingredients.

The nursery has been awarded an Ofsted rating of ‘good’ for its commitment to high quality childcare and education (February 2019).

When choosing a nursery for our child we visited a few but we knew on the first visit that Starfish that this nursery would suit us. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Our child took a while to settle and all the staff were really supportive. I've always felt reassured and confident leaving
my child with them. All the staff seem to know each child and although they have separate classes it always feels like a community. Our son is really happy at Starfish and I really think that's down to the dedication and attention from all of the staff.

My elder daughter has recently graduated from Starfish, 3.5 years since her first day...


I remember very clearly the stress of going back to work and choosing the right nursery: someone to look after your most precious bundle! But once I visited Starfish, it was an easy choice - the staff are simply

amazing. They are incredibly supportive of everything that parents may fret about: from baby routines, food issues, potty training, changes to parents' diaries, etc...


They are really good at communicating with the parents and it has a lovely family feel to it - everyone knows and cares about every child.


Starfish are also very focused on the child's development, particularly in the pre-school, and I felt that they did an excellent job of preparing my daughter for school.


My little girl (aged 2) goes there now and as we drive up towards the car park she goes "Nursery - yay!"


That says it all, really...

I started using Starfish in 2009, for my Son. Prior to picking nursery I viewed 4 others and then sent my husband in. We were both delighted with what we saw , and my son loved it from day one. The staff could not have been more welcoming both to the children and to the parents and no task was too
big for them. Each time my son moved from one room to the next , the transition was fantastic, so when my daughter came along, we did not think twice about her starting there too.
My daughter had an accident in Feb 14, which resulted in her damaging her mouth. I was very concerned about her eating but yet again the staff in her room went beyond their role , and ensured that she was fine in all aspects.
In September we left starfish as my daughter started school. Both the children will miss the staff as will my husband and I, as they are not just a nursery, they become part of your family.

Fantastic nursery. Love them to bits. Couldn't have been more helpful, kind, friendly, warm and fun. My boys loved being at this nursery and formed close friendships with the other lovely children and staff. Very professional and on the ball. The food is freshly prepared every day by the talented chef.
They prepared my children for school so well from phonics to sitting nicely and creating lovely learning journeys. I had total faith in them every day my children were at Starfish. The management team put so much effort in. Thank you for being so wonderful xx

My son has just started in September here. We have been so happy with how quickly and happily he has settled in. The staff are really lovely and he clearly likes them. The range of activities and little classes they have is fantastic and very varied and my child is really enjoying going in everyday.

My daughter has loved her time at Starfish Day Nursery. From the moment we took our first steps into the building on our first visit we knew we had found "home". The staff are amazing and care so much for the children and genuinely want to be there and do everything they can for the children. No challenge
is too small for them from a disability to an extreme fussy eater!
I knew 100% that my child would have the best of care and seeing all the smiles at the beginning at end of day would always confirm that along with all the many treasures they bring home. The nursery also really looks after the parents in making sure they know everything that is going on and have a say in any changes.
I know that with any other children of mine, I would not hesitate to send them to this nursery. They are going to be truly missed not only by my daughter who loves them dearly but also by myself.

My child started at Starfish when she was just 3 months old. She loves coming into nursery. The staff are so loving and friendly. It is a lovely environment. The staff always follow her dietaries and ensure she is not in contact with anything in which she should not be because she does have an allergy
and the staff at Starfish manage it well.

Clare

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 1999

Clare has been passionate about working with children since 1999 when her own four children were in school. She began her journey in education as a teaching assistant, midday supervisor, and after-school playworker, gaining valuable experience in supporting children’s learning and development.


Eager to expand her knowledge, she completed an access to teacher training course in 2005, alongside earning her GCSEs in biology and English. She went on to achieve a foundation degree in early childhood studies in 2009, followed by a BA (Hons) in early childhood studies in 2010.


After spending time working in a local school, she joined a nursery as a nursery nurse in the toddler room. Her love for early years education and commitment to nurturing young children quickly led to a promotion and in June 2012, she became preschool principal. In this role, she spent nearly two years creating a warm and engaging environment where children could thrive, grow in confidence, and feel ready for their next big step into school.


With years of experience in early childhood education, she is dedicated to making every child’s nursery experience a positive and enriching one, supporting both children and their families along the way.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Amy, also know as Toff, is been a valued member of the Bright Horizons Guildford Boxgrove team since October 2018. When she first joined, she had no experience in early years education, but with the support of the wonderful team, she quickly discovered her passion. This led her to complete her Level 3 Early Years Education qualification through Bright Horizons.


As she gained experience, Amy progressed to Room Leader, a role she truly loved. She enjoyed caring for the children, supporting families, and working closely with her colleagues. During this time, she also took on the role of Nursery SENCO, a position she is incredibly passionate about. She finds it deeply rewarding to see the growth and progress of the children receiving SEND support.


In August 2024, Amy became Deputy Nursery Manager, a role that allows her to work with all age groups, support the staff team and build strong relationships with families. She is dedicated to ensuring every child receives the best possible care and is always happy to support parents and carers throughout their nursery journey.
