Sandfield Day Nursery is large purpose built day nursery with caring and dedicated staff, situated in the grounds of the John Radcliffe Hospital to care for the children of the Trust employees and local community. They have also obtained their Green Flag Eco-Schools Award.

Friendly and well established, the nursery provides a happy, sociable environment where every child is treated as an individual. The nursery has rooms for each individual age group with a specialist baby unit and spacious gardens that provide an excellent outdoor environment.

An excellent nursery, my daughter loves it here and has enjoyed every room she has been in since she was 10 months old. Great resources, well-balanced meals and a nice big garden to play in. All staff are so friendly, helpful and caring. I would highly recommend this Nursery to everyone.

Excellent care throughout the age groups at nursery. Our son started at 11 months in Caterpillars and has been very happy all the way through to pre-school. All the staff are friendly and helpful and great with the children. Really good outdoor space our son loves the garden.

We have been extremely pleased with this nursery right from the start. Our little boy has been extremely happy here, he especially loves playing in the ‘big garden’.
He has always had lovely key workers to look after him and he seems to enjoy the food.

Excellent very friendly nursery. Great quality care and staff who seem to really enjoy working with the children. Lots of updates in ParentZone and fun learning activities each day. Excellent environment indoors and out.

Sandfield is simply amazing. They have managed my son's bereavement so well and treat every child and parent with respect. I trust them to look after my child which is the most valuable thing to me. He has developed so well under their care and he has a true bond with the team.

I've had two children in from 9 months until school. I am very impressed with the detail used to record the development of my children every day. The activities are always very varied with lots of outdoor play, even in winter. The food menu always looks very healthy and delicious. They have often asked
me to make some of the food at home!
The key person has alway been devoted to both my children and I feel that they really do care. The security is very good with a bolted gate and door buzzer. I would highly recommend the nursery to everyone.

The start of our second child at nursery has been a very easy process. He has settled in well and all the staff have been excellent. The only comment I would make is that I don't see our key person and much, but this is also because I don't do as many drop offs and pick ups as I used to - thanks to
dad!

The care my daughter has had in the Catterpillar Room has been fabulous and I know she has been well looked after and loved every minute of it. The girls always have a smile on their face and are really affectionate with the children which I think is lovely. The meals and activities provided by the
nursery are excellent. I cannot recommend the nursery enough.

Our little boy settled in really quickly thanks to the staff and quite often it's a struggle to get him to come home at the end of the day. The staff are so welcoming and the management team are always really visible and accessible. We really like the balanced mix of more experienced staff and the
energy and enthusiasm brought by the younger members of the team. The staff all seem happy to be at work and I think that speaks volumes. There is a lot of laughter at this nursery but staff are always very professional too. The outdoor play space is fabulous with a range of different areas and our son loves the free flow ethos between the nursery room and garden. There is always a good range of activities with clean and well looked after toys. Sometimes it would be nice to get a few more photos and they are working to develop a more accessible electronic system. The cooks have been fabulous at helping us manage our son's food intolerances . We feel very lucky to have our son at Sandfield Day Nursery.

The 'Sandfield Day Nursery' team are a dedicated group of people who go above and beyond the call of duty to make every child's experience special. My son has loved each room he has attended for different reasons. The time and effort that goes into planning each day is noticeable, not to mention the
'Extra Curricular' events the nursery hold. I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursery to anyone. P.S. It has a fantastic garden suitable for play all year round.

My son started at Sandfield in August 2015. Since joining he has become a confident and social little boy. He has been eating a wider variety of foods which he would not even try at home, he's a lot less fussy (Thanks to the wonderful cooks!). His speech and motor skills are coming on fantastically
and he really enjoys being with other children. Although he is only 2 now, he has made a lovely little group of friends who he is always very happy to see when I come in to drop him off. I even have days when he is reluctant to come home because he is having too much fun!


I really like the fact that the children have open access to the garden.


The staff are friendly and very approachable. My son has warmed to them all very quickly and has made wonderful relationships with his key workers. I too have made good relationships with staff members.


I would highly recommend this nursery, especially if you are looking for a very homely and welcoming environment.

I can highly recommend this nursery. My son has attended since Oct 2013, when he was 8.5 months old. Very friendly and caring staff and great activities. My son is now a pre-schooler and and seems to very much enjoy the educational aspects as well as the more messy and fun-focused activities. He also
constantly mentions the 'golden values' being taught when he is at home (e.g., 'sharing is caring'). In fact, he enjoys his time at Sandfield with his little friends so much that he will sometimes ask if he can go to pre-school even on Saturdays and Sundays.

Our daughter is seven months old and absolutely loves the nursery. When I come to pick her up she will give me a smile and turn back to playing. I am still breastfeeding and the nursery are very supportive. I come twice a day and there is a parent room ready for me. Girls in the Caterpillar room are
fantastic doing their best to be caring, diligent and flexible. Our daughter always gives them her biggest smile when we arrive in the morning. The chef is great, she helped us with baby-led weaning which was a great success.

Our daughter has been here nearly a year, and it has been wonderful for all of us. The staff in Ladybirds are so caring towards her, and take a real interest in her interests and different quirks. She is clearly very happy spending time with them, and usually leaps into somebody's arms for a cuddle
when we arrive. The room has a very friendly atmosphere, and fosters lovely relationships between the children there.


Her key person has such a good understanding of our daughter as a person, and we've really valued the insights she's shared with us.


Overall it's been a great experience, and we whole-heartedly recommend to friends with young children.

While on 'granny' duties I took my granddaughter to Sandfield Nursery. It was the first time I had visited. I was immediately impressed by the friendly, helpful staff and the first class facilities - the outside area has to be seen to be believed.

My son has just began nursery and we have had a month of settling in. We had tears and distress at first but I am amazed at how quickly he has settled in. He now doesn't notice when I leave and laughs and giggles when he gets home.
Very happy there. Food is plentiful and varied, and well balanced.
Many happy changes in day and helpful to know know what he's eaten and pooped and what he's been up to during the day. We get photos, reports of favourite activities, cards, pictures which makes the experience of leaving him absolutely fine. A lovely group of girls looking after him with respect and fun.

I have heard recommendation from many mums I met - I came by myself and I found the staff are friendly and very welcoming. I can feel how they are nice to my son from his reaction when he sees them. Also my son has improved since he joined the nursery and that is very clear. I can say its a very clean
environment and I saw how they prepare the food. I think my son is lucky to join such a nursery. All the best.

My daughter started in early September and was very unsure, the staff were fantastic when it came to settling her in which really helped my anxiety. We looked at a lot of nurseries before we chose Sandfield day nursery - we're just so pleased we kept looking!


The facilities and space are great,

as are the staff - we love the weekly comms around what the children are doing the following week and have been doing that week and the daily view of naps/food etc.


Overall we're just so pleased with this nursery, as is our daughter - we'd highly recommend it.

Kim is the Manager of Sandfield Day Nursery in Headington and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 30 years. Kim has an NVQ Level 3 and 4 in Management and has worked for Childbase Partnership for 25 years.


What is your favourite feature of Sandfield?
My favourite feature of the nursery is our large age-appropriate garden which contains many features designed to nurture the imagination. All age groups have daily access to the area and also use it for eco-activities such as insect observations and vegetable planting.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I am most proud of the team's dedication.
