At Co-op Childcare Carterton, they have a diverse team of nursery practitioners who bring lots of experience and plan creative activities each day.
They make it a priority to keep parents informed with up to the minute information, and host regular parent panels, so parents can have a say in how they run their nursery. For this, they have a ParentZone app which keeps you informed about what your child has been up to all day including observations, assessments, meals, and even toilet training progress!
All staff are pediatric first-aid trained. They know that little things can make a big difference, so they make sure to give children lots of hands-on experiences. There are areas for growing food (and eating it). Children make regular visits to local care homes and focus on doing their bit for the environment.
Each child will learn all about the environment and their local community through a global eco-schools programme which will make them become a real environmental champion!

About this price
How funding is applied, how the monthly figure is calculated.More info
- Working parents of children aged 9 months to 2 years can usually claim up to 30 funded hours a week. The working-parent hours depend on each parent meeting the minimum earnings rules and earning under £100,000 a year. This nursery stretches funded hours across 52 weeks of the year. You've selected 30 funded hours.
- This nursery applies up to 10 funded hours per day, stretched across 52 weeks of the year. With your selected funding, 21.9 hours are covered each week. Hours beyond this, including the early and late parts of the day, are charged at the standard rate.
- We work out the total cost across the year and divide by 12, so the figure shown is a smoothed monthly average. In practice, nurseries bill in different ways. Some bill monthly at this average. Others bill weekly, or charge for what happened that week or month, which can vary across the year. Confirm billing details with the nursery when you enquire.

Lovely staff too, every last one of them. We let our little one go to preschool even now because we're confident in their covid 19 protocols and the prompt updates we get. Can't find faults even if I tried. I'd say 10/10 overall.

I love the app used to give me updates on what she ate when she was changed, and how her day was including observations and next steps. As a teacher myself, it’s so informative to receive this. Really pleased with Co-op. It’s a bright, friendly, lovely little nursery! Highly recommend!!

The staff have been very welcoming to my child and us. Following lockdown was a tricky time to introduce him to a nursery setting especially with face masks. However, he settled in really well within a few sessions which I think speaks volumes of the excellent staff who can make the children feel comfortable and happy in a new setting despite these strange times. They are always cheerful and friendly and he seems happy to see them.

We are very happy with Carterton Co-operative nursery. Our son loves going each week. The preschool team are super. There's a great happy feeling whenever we drop him off. He's learning more than we could ever teach at home. Highly recommended.

A practical nursery but not really our cup of tea. Daughter attending until she is old enough to start at a preschool. Most of the staff are friendly but I do not feel that they know the children that well (sweeping generalisation but true of too many) and info passage doesn’t seem great.

On the positives, they do engage with the children and get outside as much as possible.
Outdoor space is very limited.

Afternoon sessions are very poor value for money. An a.m. session includes breakfast, snack and lunch. The afternoon only includes a small tea, my children are always starving by the time they get home! Sleeping areas within the rooms should be more relaxing to enable children to sleep better and not be disturbed by other children playing or being dropped off and picked up.
Staff seem to work incredibly long hours and always appear so tired by the end of the day and week.
Great nursery for little ones. My two have a fab time and love going. Caring and approachable staff, I would highly recommend.

The staff are lovely and supportive of the children. The food is widely varied, and sounded extremely tasty! My child certainly loved it!! Sadly, the price is the only negative side, especially as I had to return to full-time work in order to have my child at nursery for 2 days.

The pre-school room is fantastic! My daughter's speech has come on really well and she's starting to know what shapes and numbers are, so happy with her progress, and the staff are so nice and polite and they update me on my daughter's activity.

Now my little boy is here and has come on leaps and bounds, we have been worried about his speech but feel confident that he is making progress. The staff are always happy to listen to any concerns regarding the children and nothing is ever too much trouble. The rooms are great, very interactive and both our children love to be outside - the garden is great there. I love the parent app and being able to comment on things and hearing about parents evenings/workshops. I also love seeing pictures of what they have been up to all day!

My little one absolutely loves going to the nursery and the difference in her development since starting is clear to see. The prices are clear and all inclusive; meaning that I don't have to worry about providing anything - other than a change of clothing. This was a big selling point for me.

Great communication at the start and end of each day, the Parentzone App and weekly newsletters.

In the 7 months my daughter has been at the nursery, she has blossomed and made some lovely relationship with her key workers and all the team. It’s lovely to see the wide range of activities they do with the children and how much time they spend outside playing in the big garden.
Other areas that make the nursery fab are things like the weekly roundup emails, which are useful for knowing what’s happening in the coming week. Along with the app, which is regularly updated with my child’s progress, along with pictures. This really helps to reassure me that she’s having a fun time and is happy.
Overall my experience of the nursery has been brilliant.
My son has been coming here since he was a baby and is now in pre-school, he loves it! The staff are wonderful.

The staff work incredibly hard and the girls in butterflies have an amazing bond with my daughter and she loves her time here. They are extremely caring and I feel very confident dropping her off each day knowing she is happy and is in safe hands.
Communication is excellent - it’s great to receive the updates through the day.

Communication is excellent from the management team right down to the day to day information when collecting my daughter. The parent zone app is a great tool especially when I receive pictures of what she is doing whilst I am at work! Most importantly my daughter looks forward to going to nursery.

We took our son there when he was six months old so that we could go back to work and he absolutely loves it. The staff are brilliant with him, he is kept entertained and is learning new things through a variety of activities on a daily basis.
Very, very happy.
