Rowan Tree day nursery is a happy nursery where every child is treated as an individual. Much of the character of the building has been retained to provide spacious and interesting rooms with first class facilities. There is a discreet CCTV system which enables parents to view their children when they first settle into nursery life, and an intercom system for security.

Brightly decorated rooms provide children with the opportunity to grow and develop through a stimulating and sociable environment. The children can enjoy the outside in the spacious garden, stocked with a variety of equipment to promote all areas of their development with a secluded garden for babies with safety flooring. Rowan Tree has a fully qualified Forest school leader and has started a Forest School Programme with the pre-school children. They have also achieved their Green Flag Eco-Schools award four times now.

A friendly and enthusiastic staff team work together to ensure high-quality child care is provided.

Rowan Tree Day Nursery is such a wonderful nursery for our daughter - we feel very lucky she has a place there. The staff in her room are so warm, enthusiastic, fun and loving towards the children. She does wonderful activities every day and loves going. They have been absolutely amazing in supporting
us with my daughter's allergies. I can't recommend them enough.

The nursery is excellently run by the managers who have a superbly supportive team behind them to create a really safe, positive and teaching environment for my son. My little man thoroughly looks forward to going into nursery for a day of stimulating activities, with plenty of time and attention. I
love looking at his progress through the app on my phone which is updated for every day your child is there. The daily feedback of what your child has been up to throughout their day is always completed and to a great standard. Thanks for all your hard work guys, keep it up!

My daughter has been at Rowan Tree for two years. We were looking for a nursery that would have that family feel but was also educational, professional and consistent. We were incredibly lucky when we were told there was a space available. It was one of the best decisions we've made, and we never looked
back. She had no trouble setting at all. The staff are very professional and caring. Focus and attention on learning and development are outstanding as well as a lot of different fun activities. We feel very confident our daughter is ready for big school. We will miss nursery terribly. Thank you very much Rowan Tree team for always taking excellent care of our daughter. We wish you all the best. I highly recommend this nursery.

My three children have all attended Rowan Tree and loved every minute, so I have been attending for the last 10 years. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, supportive and kind - the turnover of staff is very low so it really does feel like an extension of our family. None of my children had
any trouble settling and have always received all the love and attention they need to make them feel secure and content and address their needs. The nursery's handling of the Covid-19 restrictions has been faultless - calm, efficient, effective, safe, reassuring, kind and settling. It is always a joy to arrive at Rowan Tree and my whole family will be sorry to leave when our youngest 'graduates' this summer.

Rowan Tree is simply fantastic. Our daughter had been attending for 2-years, and our son recently started. Both kids love it and are so excited in the mornings to go. All the staff are friendly, professional and take the time to really get to know each individual child. I love getting the photos and
updates on the app; you can see the huge smiles on the kid's faces. I couldn’t rate the nursery more highly. Would definitely recommend.

My son has been at Rowan Tree for over 2 years now and he loves it there. There is a very warm and welcoming feel to the nursery. The staff are all really friendly, kind, caring and helpful. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are great and there is a large range of toys for the children. The learning
is excellent and now he is a bit older they spend more time on each topic and go into more detail on it which is lovely. He has formed close bonds with all of the staff that work there and has made some good friends.

My 2 boys, now aged 2 and 4, have been going to Rowan Tree since they were 9 months old. We love the nursery. They look after our boys really well, once we drop them off I don't have to worry about them at all. They love spending time with all the staff there and often talk about them at home. We
have also got to know all the staff really well over the years which is nice for us as too. The meals are amazing, a lot of thought goes into them, really healthy and the kids eat really well there. They do lots of different activities with them which helps them to develop. I would highly recommend this nursery for your child.

Rowan Tree has taken care of both of my children. When we chose the nursery we were impressed by the setting, the care from the staff for the children and the happiness of all the children. My daughter attended for nearly four years and the staff helped her grow and develop and get ready for school,
and also deal with the arrival of her baby brother. She stills loves to visit now at eight years old and has lots of fond memories of her time there.
My son started nearly three years ago and loves attending, having made some wonderful friends and sees his ‘grown ups’ as extra friends. He is learning all the time and comes home with lovely artwork. We moved away from Welwyn Garden City before my son was born but travel every day for him to attend the nursery as there is no one we would trust more to take care of him. He is growing and developing every day and will be soon heading to school and I know he will miss the nursery terribly.

Before choosing a nursery for my baby, I researched a number of local nurseries near to where I live. When I walked through the door at Rowan Tree, I just knew my son would be happy there, it just gave off this great vibe. The nursery and all the staff are super friendly. My son has been there for 6-months
and on the days he attends nursery he stands at our front door with a beaming smile with his shoes in his hands. Best decision ever, you won't be disappointed if you choose Rowan Tree!

It took my daughter no time at all to settle into Rowan Tree. The staff have been wonderful and very welcoming to the whole family. We get a lovely report at the end of the day to let us know what she’s been up to and the ParentZone app has been fantastic for updating us with the new skills that she’s
learnt that week.


The facilities are outstanding, especially the garden area where they spend a lot of their time. It is also very close to the train station, which makes it an ideal location for any parents commuting to London for work.


I feel I’ve found the best place for my daughter to learn and grow in a safe environment.

Our daughter started at Rowan Tree Day Nursery when she was 14 months old and is really thriving there! She has developed a really warm bond with staff members, which is clearly a credit to the hard work, dedication, genuine and individualised care they provide for her. The facilities in the indoor
and outdoor spaces are fantastic, including a range of educational toys. Our daughter has special dietary requirements and the chef has been absolutely outstanding in cooking her healthy, balanced, and nutritious meals daily. Both the management team and the other staff always welcome us in and are always available to chat for any queries, however big or small. We feel we are dropping our daughter off to an intimate, humble, open-minded and caring family atmosphere, which is so reassuring and has allowed us to ease back into full-time work smoothly and flawlessly. We couldn't have asked for a more positive and supportive experience, and we thank Rowan Tree from the bottom of our hearts!

Claire is the Manager of Rowan Tree Day Nursery in Welwyn Garden City and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 20 years.


Claire has an NNEB in Childcare and has worked for Childbase Partnership for 19 years.


What is your favourite feature of Rowan Tree?
My favourite features of the nursery are the roof garden for our babies and the Art Studio for our Pre-School which has been designed using the Reggio approach.


What are you most proud of about your nursery?
I am most proud of our team. We have a very highly motivated team with a low turnover and dedicated staff who have been with us for a number of years.
