Bright Horizons Potten End Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Muddy Puddles Day Nursery and Preschool) is located in a picturesque location between Berkhamstead and Hemel Hempstead in Potten End, committed to providing premium childcare for children aged three months to five years. Dedicated staff will cherish and nurture your child, encouraging them to develop friendships, independence, curiosity and, most importantly of all, to have fun.

Additional equipment and resources within four, age-appropriate rooms are aimed at extending and supporting the key areas defined in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Messy play, painting, glueing, mark-making, baking, stories, construction, threading, imaginative play and dressing up are amongst the indoor activities which are all enjoyed across the nursery on a regular basis along with singing, music and dancing which are supported on a weekly basis by their external partners Jelly Babies, Jelly Beans and Tiny Mites.

Mealtimes at Potten End Day Nursery and Preschool are a happy, social occasion for children and staff alike. All the food is prepared and cooked daily on-site by the nursery chef and offers a healthy, balanced diet as well as meeting individual needs and preference.

Our son is very happy at Muddy Puddles and attends happily 5 days a week. The nursery is set in beautiful surroundings with great facilities. We have always found the staff helpful and friendly and our son likes all of the nursery workers who have looked after him.

My son has been at Muddy Puddles for over 2 years since age 2. He has loved his time at the nursery. All the staff are very kind and caring and really get to know the children as individuals. There is always a lot going on to engage the children's interest including music, football sessions and French.
The outdoor space is second to none. I would highly recommend the nursery.

I have both my son's at this nursery and have been delighted with their treatment from day 1. The staff are caring and very considerate, the meals provided are nutritious and loved by both my boys. The rooms are spacious and have plenty of resources for the children to use. Outside space is amazing
and was one of the reasons we chose this nursery in the first place. Overall I am very happy with the quality and content.

My son has developed very well with his speech, and he's interactive with children and adults. He always looks forward to his days at nursery, the teachers are very well trained and take a real interest in their progress. As a whole, i'm very happy.

My children love attending Muddy Puddles they are constantly learning new skills. My daughter also attended and upon starting school was streets ahead in terms of reading/writing. Security is very good. The staff very friendly and helpful and my kids love them.

Friendly and approachable staff.


My daughter enjoys her time and always seems happy.


Variety of activities and toys available.


We had a rough time with illness etc and felt my baby girl was well taken care of!

Pre-school staff are welcoming and attentive. They are always enthusiastic and my daughter enjoys every day she spends here.


She has learned so much since she started in pre-school and there seems a good mix of children to play with. The pre-school encourages group play, which enhances their social

Both of my children have attended Muddy Puddles and I cannot put into words how impressed I have been with the pre-school team and the nursery manager. My youngest son was very nervous and upset about having to start pre-school, but the team worked really hard to ensure he felt settled and comfortable
in a very short space of time. The range of activities that the children have available is fantastic and the relationships amongst the staff and pupils is clearly extremely nurturing.

I am very happy that my son is really enjoying being at nursery. I know he is cared for really well and he is always happy when he comes into nursery. He really enjoys the breakfast and tea but the lunch he never gets on with.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Craig is the Nursery Manager at Bright Horizons Potten End. With over ten years’ experience in early education, he is passionate about creating a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child feels valued and confident to explore. After gaining his Early Years Teacher Status and PGCE, Craig has worked across a range of settings, progressing from nursery practitioner to manager.


He believes that strong relationships with families are at the heart of every successful nursery, and works closely with parents to ensure each child’s individual needs, interests, and routines are supported. Craig and his team focus on sparking curiosity through play and meaningful experiences, helping children to develop independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Amy

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Amy is the Deputy Manager at Bright Horizons Potten End Nursery and has worked in childcare for over 17 years. She holds a range of qualifications, including NVQ Levels 2 and 3 and a leadership qualification. Before joining Potten End, Amy led rooms and nurseries across several settings, gaining a wealth of experience along the way.


She has a real passion for supporting both children and staff to achieve their goals and finds joy in inspiring little minds to learn, explore, and grow through play. Amy looks forward to welcoming families and helping each child to flourish during their early years journey.
