The House that Jack Built Nursery is located in Watford. Qualified and experienced staff provide care for children aged six months to five years.

The baby room focuses on sensory experience for very young children, with features such as a bubble wall, a soft play area and in the garden, a grass tunnel, a Wendy house and slides. There are regular sports and education sessions to help children develop mentally and physically. The toddler room builds on this with a bubble tube and an area dedicated to puzzles and construction. It also adds to the children’s sport and education sessions with additional weekly Spanish lessons. The pre-schoolers’ rooms have a garden and more educational resources to develop maths, literacy and social skills.

Parents are involved with their child’s care and invited to attend monthly parent meetings. Food is prepared onsite using fresh ingredients to provide nutritionally balanced meals. Parents can speak to staff about any dietary needs their child may have.

All the staff at the nursery are absolutely amazing, my son started there in October 2024 and for a child who has never been to nursery has really settled in well. The staff are really caring, loving and very attentive. My son loves going to nursery and tells me every day about all the wonderful stuff
he's done throughout the day. The staff have been great in every aspect including potty training. I can't thank the staff enough.

So my grandson started at the nursery in September. He has come on leaps and bounds. He wasn't walking when he started but soon started copying the other children. We get regular pictures and updates. I actually haven't met a nicer bunch of caring and capable staff. He is a very happy and active child.
His big sister also went to the nursery but has now gone to school. Very happy Nana.

My little boy has attended the nursery since the beginning of September and it's been the best thing I did. The nursery is so welcoming, all the staff are patient, understanding, knowledgeable and above all else, caring and fun. My son settled with no tears within 2 days and now is so excited to run
into nursery to see everyone. The communication us parents get about our children is above and beyond, I never have to worry about anything as I get updates all through the day about everything my son is doing. My son is extremely happy at this nursery and his development in just 5 weeks has been amazing.

My daughter joined this nursery coming up to a year ago when she turned one year old. She always loves going to nursery and the staff are always so attentive. I love the picture and video updates we receive, it's a great way to catch up on how my daughter is doing and what she gets up to during the
week.

The House That Jack Built has been amazing for both of my children, who have been there since they were 6 months old. They are both thriving there and all the staff work so hard to make the nursery an enjoyable place to be! They have supported us through a lot and everything has been so personalised,
they really go above and beyond. Would recommend to anyone thinking about which nursery to send their little ones to!

My daughter has been at the nursery since Easter. In those few months she has flourished. Her speech has become clearer, and her confidence has grown. She now feels happy to instigate play with other children (both within the nursery setting and when we are out). The activities that the nursery provides
are varied and always well thought out. The app is always completed and makes me feel reassured. If I have ever had a concern, the nursery always responds very quickly. I cannot stress enough that all the staff at the nursery are always so helpful, friendly and look to be the best role models for my little girl and all the children that attend. The thought that goes into planning sessions, themes and events is amazing. From the moment I spoke to the manager on the phone I knew that I felt safe to entrust my daughter to their care.

My grandson is so happy and excited to go to nursery in the mornings.
All staff are so friendly and the activities they have for the children are fun.
The best thing I liked about the nursery is the communication and the pictures and videos they share on an app every day.

Over the time my grandson has attended The House That Jack Built from the age of 1 (now 3 years) I feel the level of care has been exemplary. The staff have always been caring and friendly and made attending the nursery a joy.
He runs in every day happy in the knowledge he will have a great day and
this is due to the lovely atmosphere within the nursery. I am so pleased my daughter chose THTJB particularly as the nursery always makes not just parents but extended family welcome.

My daughter has settled so well since joining the nursery. The staff have been amazing in helping her settle and have been very supportive in every aspect. Since joining my daughter is so happy to go into nursery and always goes in and comes out with a smile on her face. She has come a long way in a
short space of time, especially with her speech and confidence. The activities are fun and educational and my daughter often does things and says 'I learnt this at nursery' which makes me feel proud to be part of such a lovely nursery.

I'm so happy with the nursery, my little girl joined earlier this year and at such a young age we were nervous for how she would be - well we need not have worried, she settled in straight away, the love and care from her key worker has been second to none. She is so excited to go to nursery in the
mornings, she lights up at the mention of her keyworkers names. The food is fresh and healthy, we know she's getting a wonderful meal (and often times she has more than one serving!), she sleeps well there, we are kept up to date with regular messages from staff in the room, and pictures, as well as parents evenings and reports! It's just amazing. The love that we feel from the staff is wonderful, I wouldn't consider any other nursery!! Truly outstanding. Thank you everyone!

Hands down the best nursery in the area. From day one we've felt so welcomed and cared for, the care extends to us as parents too. When our little girl has been off sick, the staff all contact us to check in on how she is, and they ask how we're doing too - it speaks volumes to me that they truly care
about the wellbeing of my child and her family. The daily updates when she's at nursery, the photos, messages, etc. all sets my mind at ease - we even get a weekly collage of all the activities the babies have been up to for that week. They're outside in nature as much as possible, the activities they come up with for the babies are so unique and engaging - and the food is outstanding, all freshly made on site and always a full rainbow of colour on the plate! I can truly say that my child is LOVED by the staff here, and as a parent there is just nothing better. My little girl is SO happy here, she claps and giggles at the mere mention of nursery!

My daughter joined the nursery not long ago and I honestly can’t praise them enough!
From her settling sessions to her first couple weeks the team have been so caring and welcoming towards her. She is a child who does not like to be around new people and from her second settle session she was happy
to go to her key person which made me so much more comfortable when leaving her. Communication is amazing with regular updates throughout the day which is fantastic for a parent like me who loves to see how my daughter is doing as much as possible.
Even though my daughter hasn’t been at the nursery for long I have already been able to see the range of activities that they offer to the children, even in the baby room.
The management are also absolutely lovely! They are extremely accommodating to your needs and you are able to contact them easily with any questions that you have.
I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone.

My child has been attending The House That Jack Built Nursery since the age of 1. I couldn't be happier with the facilities, the staff and most importantly the hard work the nursery has put into the development and growth of my son.
My kid is always excited to go to the nursery and meet up with his
peers and nursery staff. They do a range of activities from fun stuff to educational activities, all of which contribute to the proper growth and development of my child. I can see the difference in my son, who although being at preschool stage he already knows the numbers and letters and he is able to read and write albeit with a bit of help.
Overall, The House That Jack Built Nursery is an amazing place where the attention to detail is at top level and the staff and directors are so dedicated to their job that the results speak for themselves!

My children have been going to The House That Jack Built for 5 years. I couldn’t be happier with the way the nursery has helped them develop from a baby to a toddler. Both kids really enjoy/ed the lessons, phonics, sports and yoga.
All the teachers and managers/owners are wonderful and so kind. The
children all love them and love spending time with them. My kids talk about their teachers all the time, even on the weekend!
The facilities are great, a lovely outdoor space and lots of fun areas in the classrooms.
The education is great, they spend so much time learning/using their hands. By the time our eldest finished, she could write her name.
The kids couldn’t be happier, they go in and come home so excited.

Great place to leave my daughter for daycare. She loves being there playing in the garden and always gets excited with the activities. The most important thing I liked was the communication from time to time with pictures and videos. It is just two months since she joined but we can see a lot of difference

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.950)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for The House That Jack Built Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for The House That Jack Built Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (396 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 417 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The House That Jack Built Nursery is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 number of registered child places is 8.4, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
