The House that Jack Built Nursery is located in Watford. Qualified and experienced staff provide care for children aged six months to five years.

The baby room focuses on sensory experience for very young children, with features such as a bubble wall, a soft play area and in the garden, a grass tunnel, a Wendy house and slides. There are regular sports and education sessions to help children develop mentally and physically. The toddler room builds on this with a bubble tube and an area dedicated to puzzles and construction. It also adds to the children’s sport and education sessions with additional weekly Spanish lessons. The pre-schoolers’ rooms have a garden and more educational resources to develop maths, literacy and social skills.

Parents are involved with their child’s care and invited to attend monthly parent meetings. Food is prepared onsite using fresh ingredients to provide nutritionally balanced meals. Parents can speak to staff about any dietary needs their child may have.

My daughter is now two and has been in the nursery since she was six months old. The staff has been very welcoming and caring, always open to discuss any concerns with her settling in and development. They organise parents' consultations twice a year, giving an additional chance to discuss with our
child's keyworker. I've seen my daughter progress so much since joining, that I feel this is an environment that helps her learn a lot, socialise with her peers and thrive. She is always happy to go and loves the members of staff, which gives me the confidence that she is looked after really well.

My children are very happy in this nursery, they always arrive and leave with a big smile. I think this is due to the caring, lovely, committed and welcoming staff that looks after them. The facilities and toys are very diverse and in optimal conditions. The rooms are also clean and tidy. The managers
are lovely and caring and always looking at ways to improve the quality of the nursery via activities, standards and suggestions.

Since my daughter has started attending The House That Jack Built nursery I have seen nothing but amazing achievements. Since the beginning, they have kept me up to date with everything my daughter does and have made the whole experience a joy to be involved with. The staff are warm, caring, considerate
and willing to give 100% every minute of the day. They are always there to help make sure your child has the support and encouragement they need. The bond that they have with the children is lovely and makes sending my daughter to nursery a lot easier and worry-free. They fill the day with great activities to keep the children entertained and send home anything your child has created that day. They also offer a great variety of breakfast, lunch and dinners.
I would highly recommend The House That Jack Built nursery to anybody as they are outstanding!

The House That Jack Built Nursery is a very friendly nursery, staff are very caring, warm and considerate with the children. My daughter has been attending this nursery for the last few months and we absolutely love it. The children get to explore a wide variety of activities and so many opportunities
for parents to join in. Amazing to have such a great place in the area. We love it and highly recommend it.

The House That Jack Built is a small scale nursery with great facilities, huge amounts of resources, toys and wonderful staff. There is a dedicated chef that cooks a wide variety of homemade food and both our children have eaten really well there. We have had a very positive experience with the nursery
and our children have always been happy to go there. Knowing that our children are happy, learning and building friendships make returning to work easier.

My daughter has been at the nursery since she was one, we have had an excellent service as always. The transition between the groups has been seamless. The staff know children personally and the feedback and development have always been excellent. We feel you are always involved in their development.
Last but not least, you know your child is enjoying themselves when she looks forward on Monday morning to go to nursery.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for The House That Jack Built Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for The House That Jack Built Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (396 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 417 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The House That Jack Built Nursery is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 number of registered child places is 8.4, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
