The House that Jack Built Nursery is located in Watford. Qualified and experienced staff provide care for children aged six months to five years.

The baby room focuses on sensory experience for very young children, with features such as a bubble wall, a soft play area and in the garden, a grass tunnel, a Wendy house and slides. There are regular sports and education sessions to help children develop mentally and physically. The toddler room builds on this with a bubble tube and an area dedicated to puzzles and construction. It also adds to the children’s sport and education sessions with additional weekly Spanish lessons. The pre-schoolers’ rooms have a garden and more educational resources to develop maths, literacy and social skills.

Parents are involved with their child’s care and invited to attend monthly parent meetings. Food is prepared onsite using fresh ingredients to provide nutritionally balanced meals. Parents can speak to staff about any dietary needs their child may have.

My daughter started going to this nursery from
Jan 2026 in the baby room and it's an amazing nursery. Her key worker has been fantastic. and so helpful. I was a little worried to send her to a nursery like all mothers but she's having so much fun and they do so many different activities and celebrate
all culture which is great for the little ones to learn and be exposed to.

I defo recommend this nursery and have recommend it already to friends and family.

My son has been going to THTJB for coming up to a month now and I can say that every staff member that I meet is amazing. I can really see his progression in such a short period of time due to how brilliant the staff work at THTJB. The staff go above and beyond in supporting my son's daily needs. There
are aspects of his routine that I normally only handle myself, but the team manage everything so professionally and compassionately that I have absolutely no worries. It gives us real peace of mind. They prepare nutritious meals and at times my son refuses certain things they will always try alternatives until he eats. I honestly can't fault them.

My daughter has additional needs and the staff at THTJB have been absolutely fantastic. They constantly cater for her, take the time to feed back, use their initiative to try new things to make her feel happy and secure and are always looking for ways to help her. The managers are also brilliant and
are so kind and approachable and nothing ever feels like an inconvenience. A truly wonderful, homely nursery where I feel my daughter is happy safe and thriving.

We love THTJB nursery, our child loves it and is always happy at the end of the day excited to tell us what she has done. There are good activities each week and it is all logged for us to see. The food also always looks great and my child always talks about what she has had and enjoyed.

My daughter has been at the house that jack built nursery for around 5 months now, she absolutely loves going and loves her key workers Maddy and Sally.
Everyone at the nursery was so warm and welcoming in the first month or so while she was settling in.
Her development has bloomed massively and
watching her become a more confident independent little girl is the highlight of my life!
Thank you so much to everyone at THTJB.

We honestly couldn't be happier with this nursery. The care, attention and genuine warmth the team show our children is exceptional. Our children are happy, settled and confident, which says everything about the environment they're in.
The staff are amazing - kind, patient and genuinely invested in
the children. They really take the time to understand each child as an individual, and we always feel reassured that our children are not only cared for, but truly known
Communication with parents is brilliant. Updates are clear and thoughtful, and we always feel informed and supported. Activities are engaging, creative and well balanced, both indoors and outdoors.
Leaving your children in someone else's care is a big thing, but this nursery gives us complete peace of mind. We feel incredibly lucky to have found them and would recommend them without hesitation.

We decided to move my daughters nursery and we are so pleased we moved her at The House That Jack Built. From the management to the staff they have been wonderful and have been supporting my daughters developmental needs and updating us on these as often as they can. Nothing ever feels like too much
and they are always happy to listen to our concerns or uncertainty and action things immediately.
We always see the faces of the managers as well which is always reassuring as they also very easily approachable and available.

The staff that look after my daughters age are incredibly creative and keep her engaged as much as possible. They also send us lovely pictures of the week of what they have been up to. We couldn't thank them enough for this.

My little boy has a wonderful time at THTJB nursery. The staff organise lovely activities for the children and they always seem to be doing different things. So much effort goes into to organising extra activities like their Summer event and Santa visits, and it's really appreciated because it's so
lovely enjoying those activities as a whole family, my eldest daughter (now at school) loves being involved.

We can see that our son is genuinely happy and safe in their care, which means so much to us as parents. The staff are warm, attentive, and nurturing, and they always take the time to consider our individual requests and needs. Their regular updates give us reassurance and help us feel fully involved
in his daily experiences and progress. We are truly grateful for the dedication and care the team shows, and we feel very confident knowing our son is in such a supportive environment.

I am so happy with this nursery. It was hard for my little on settling in but the staff were so understanding and fantastic. I drop my son off knowing he is in safe and loving hands. The staff are amazing and I've seen my son develop so quickly since being here! He now runs off into their arms at drop
offs and says bye to me! Honestly this nursery is a blessing. I am so glad they had space for him.

The house that jack built is a lovely nursery. The staff are caring, hard working and always have smiles on their faces. My little one loves going to the nursery and comes home happy every time. The food they provide is varied and nutritious. The staff provide regular updates on how your child is doing.
They provide varied and extensive learning opportunities for the kids. Were glad we found this nursery and are able to send our little one here. I can easily recommend this nursery without a second though.

The house that Jack built is a wonderful nursery in North Watford. The owners really care about preserving the nurturing environment for the children and staff. You sense the joy and the welcoming ethos from your first interaction.
They are proactive in maintaining a safe and fun space for the children,
both indoors and outdoors, even utilising the wonderful open areas around the nursery for exploring nature.
My daughter has been going to THTJB for 6 months now and I have seen first hand how she has developed in that time. I wanted her to have a space to develop social skills with other children, without me, and her confidence has grown so much. She now explores and plays everywhere she goes. She is happy every time she comes home and through the weekly collages we can see what she's been up to first hand.
I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone!
P.S. As an added bonus the nursery sits in the securely gated BRE site, only those who should have access to the area do.

I am very happy with the quality of activities provided every day at the nursery. They offer a large variety of healthy food items. I can see my daughter not only enjoys her time there but also learns a lot. She herself brings books to us to read and tells us she's using her phonics. It's a great nursery.

My 9 month child started here in January and from the moment he arrived he has loved attending nursery. He is so welcomed and has settled in quickly due to the attentiveness and caring nature of the staff.
Every adult who works there, we have come into contact with, has answered any questions and
also helped to settle us in too as parents.
There are great activities arranged for the children which are always varied and interesting and clearly carefully thought out and considered, which as parents, we appreciate.
There is great, thorough communication about day-to-day nursery life, means we are always updated.
Thank you very much for everything that you do.

My child loves the nursery. They have the children's welfare and happiness as top priority. It has a very caring environment and is not business-like at all. The staff seem to have a good relationship with each other and they never have temp staff so the children are always comfortable. Constantly renovating
and improving.

The staff are meticulous, professional and incredible at their job.
My son has settled very quickly. The environment is comforting and warm, due to the staff being so nurturing and welcoming. I never thought I would see the day when my son walks into the nursery and says bye!
Incredibly rare to
find a nursery that is so thorough and caring. The food is amazing, and their standards are exceptional. I did think today I would be sad when it's time for my little one to start school, as I would love for him to stay here forever. Thanks to the ladies at The House That Jack Built Nursery who do a fabulous job every day.

My two daughters joined in November 2024. Everyone at the nursery is very friendly and kind. My two-year-old settled in instantly and absolutely loves going in. My one-year-old took some time to settle but I was expecting that. She soon settled and was really happy to go into nursery and has no issues
going in now. The nursery is well equipped with lots of activities for the girls to do/play with. The outdoor facilities is a perfect size for them to play around in. The manager and another staff member in particular have been amazing, if there have been any problems, they are quick to try and help. Good communication and keep me updated on how the girls are doing throughout their days. Thank you very much for looking after my girls! You are doing a brilliant job and I'm so grateful!

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.950)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for The House That Jack Built Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for The House That Jack Built Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (396 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 417 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The House That Jack Built Nursery is based on 35 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 number of registered child places is 8.4, which has been reached with 35 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
