My two children are attending this nursery, one in Caterpillar room and the other in Bumblebee. They absolutely love it! The staff are amazing and always looking for new activities to help the children in their development. The food is nutritious and freshly made on site which was one of the biggest
items on our wish list. Our eldest son loves the big garden and all the activities it offers (sandpit, cycles, climbing etc.) We particularly love the weekly newsletter from the admin team and the tailored approach for each child. I can't fault this nursery.
The only small issues are the lack of space in the coat hanging spaces/areas and the rather small garden for younger children.

Highbury Lodge Day Nursery is outstanding in every way. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and keep our child safe and happy every day. Our child’s key worker is so supportive and always keeps us up to date with photos and information about how he is getting on and his overall development. The nursery
provides nutritional food and a great learning, supportive and nurturing environment. I felt so confident leaving my child here when going back to work. I could not recommend enough.

Highbury Lodge is an outstanding nursery, and we are absolutely delighted our child is attending.
All practitioners are caring and loving to the children, and I have all confidence my child will have his needs met throughout the day. My child has also progressed developmentally, and his confidence
has skyrocketed because of the emphasis on learning and play. Their food is also wonderful and well-balanced, which I'm grateful for.
Overall, we have a very happy child, and I can't recommend the nursery enough.

Our son is in the Ladybird room and absolutely loves it. The team has been great at noticing his interests and planning activities that tie into what he is enjoying at any particular time. We always get updates on how his day has been and would highly recommend the nursery.

Excellent staff. Both children have really flourished here. Management is always so accommodating and understanding.
Only feedback to Improve would be to incorporate more phonics in preschool to ease transition to reception.

I could not be happier with my experience of Highbury Lodge. Both my boys, one in caterpillars and one in bumblebees are both very happy. The staff are outstanding and have tailored their approach to the character and needs of the child. My elder one is being encouraged to develop with his writing and
letter learning as well as being taught about emotions and how to deal with different social situations whilst having a huge amount of fun to prepare him for preschool. On the other end of the age range my 1-year-old could not be more cared for and is nurtured; he continues to develop and gain independence by feeding himself, learning to walk and develop hand eye coordination. He is very happy and could not ask for more from the staff. The overall management of the nursery is great and the office are always willing to help with the admin of childcare which is much appreciated.

We started our son in the caterpillar room in September. He was always reluctant to go to other people or be left with anyone other than me. The team did an amazing job in settling him in and keeping me updated as to how he was doing. Staff quickly got him used to the setting and having fun uploading
pictures of some brilliant things we'd never done with him.
Not to mention, the biggest game changer for us was staff getting him to take a bottle which we'd failed with since he was born!
This is our second child who has gone to Highbury and all the staff are fantastic and really go the extra mile.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We are extremely happy with the care provided to our daughter. I have the confidence and peace of mind that my child is being taken care of in a fantastic, caring and stimulating environment whilst I am at work. From learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, knowing her left from her right, how
to write and recognise her name to counting to a 100 on her own. She amazes us with her wide vocabulary and a lot of this can be attributed to her nursery environment. We believe Highbury Lodge sets a great foundation for learning and the staff are all lovely and genuinely care about my daughter's wellbeing.

Our daughter started at Highbury Lodge in February, she enjoys going to nursery, loves the activities and is happy when we drop her off. The staff are very professional, kind and always keep us informed and updated on her progress. Would recommend the nursery to first-time parents, as we have been very
reassured by our experience and our daughter settled in very quickly. Thank you!

Our daughter absolutely loves Highbury Lodge Day Nursery Hitchin. She settled in really well after a few days and it is great to see how comfortable she is with all of the staff. The range of activities is well suited to her age and she has made huge development leaps since joining in mid February.
We were considering a larger nursery with increased facilities but the homely feel of Highbury Lodge has been the perfect transition from home life to nursery for our daughter.

Our little boy has been in the bumblebee room for over 6-months now and just loves it. He has made so many friends and formed great bonds with the nursery adults. He loves all the activists and games and they have really helped him with emotions, friendships, counting and reading.

Both our daughters attend Highbury Lodge Day Nursery Hitchin; our first is now in pre-school and is having the best start to her next journey into a Primary School. The daily support and friendly nature of all the staff, has ensured she has really engaged with the learning elements, but also the building
of positive relationships, which she can take forward into her next adventure. Our second daughter has just moved into Ladybirds, where the transition was smooth and she instantly relaxed into the new environment. The improvements in her motor skills and language in such a short amount of time is down to the encouraging staff, they really can't do enough. The meals on offer are amazing and varied; they always come home having tried something new. They both also love all the outside space to be creative and have fun with their friends. Every day they go in excited and happy - what more could you want!

We absolutely love Highbury Lodge Day Nursery (Hitchin) and are so glad we chose to send our daughter here. I was worried about how sociable our daughter would be given the strange circumstances of her first year, having been born during a global pandemic. However, she settled into the caterpillars
class relatively quickly and had a lovely relationship with her key worker there for the first few months. She transitioned into the ladybirds class at the start of this year and has flourished. She loves going to nursery and has made some lovely little friendships in her class. Her weeks are filled with activities and she comes home with new skills all the time, be it new movements to nursery rhymes or recently she has learned signing for thank you and more. All the staff, both classroom and office, are really caring and supportive and she adores her keyworker. The app updates are really helpful and keep us informed throughout the day. I highly recommend this nursery, it's wonderful.

We feel incredibly fortunate our son attends Highbury Lodge Day Nursery. From the very moment he started we felt he was in such safe hands surrounded by fantastic staff who are incredibly supported. From the team in the office to the practitioners in the room we couldn’t be more impressed with the whole
staffing team. He’s developed so many skills and gets to do such a fantastic range of activities.
We love the updates from an online app to show what he’s been up to and how he’s eaten. He always looks like he’s having a great day and we feel so assured he’s being well looked after. He loves the team who surround him and we feel he is learning so much every day he’s there. We are so happy he’s got a place there and can’t recommend it enough!

Highbury Lodge Day Nursery (Hitchin) are wonderful in all respects. They are fantastic at communicating with us, it feels like staff and parents work together as a team, and most importantly our kiddo loves it. She started this year after spending 18 months with a childminder and the practitioners at
Highbury made the transition so smooth and supportive.

Highbury lodge is by far the best nursery in the area. My daughter moved there from a different nursery and settled in really quickly thanks to the dedication and love of the staff. She goes full time and always looks forward to going to nursery. She can’t stop talking about her best friends and her
day at nursery and always amazes me with the things she learns.
Staff is very professional and helpful and always very friendly.
They put an effort to be their best and you can tell they love what they do.
Initially I thought it was over the top counting calories but they do make sure my daughter has a balanced diet in terms of macro and micronutrients for which I am grateful..

We have been extremely happy with the care our daughter has received at Highbury Lodge, from when she joined as a baby to 'graduating' from preschool in the summer. The staff are always very attentive and take on board any feedback or request, nothing is too much trouble. During the pandemic, communication
around new processes and return to nursery was frequent and clear. The children are ready and supported for life after preschool and in fact, the teacher at my daughter's school has commented on the impressive level of preparation was able to observe, compared to children coming from other settings. The only aspect which perhaps is less strong is the size of outdoor space requiring children to take turns, but children are still given multiple opportunities to spend time outside each day. I would definitely recommend Highbury Lodge to other parents

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.685)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.685) out of 10 for Highbury Lodge Day Nursery (Hitchin) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.821 for Highbury Lodge Day Nursery (Hitchin) is calculated as follows: ( (160 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 190 Ratings = 4.821
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.864 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highbury Lodge Day Nursery (Hitchin) is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 83 number of registered child places is 16.6. 16 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.6 = 0.964
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
