Jack in the Box Day Nursery in Slough opened in 1992 and registered at these premises in 2004. It operates from a single storey building within the grounds of Upton Hospital in Slough.

Children are cared for by experienced and highly qualified staff who offer an interesting, educational environment full of experiences which allow the children to explore and grow.

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust owns and operates three nurseries in Berkshire which are open to everyone; parents do not need to work for the Trust in order for their children to attend.

Each nursery has stimulating outdoor play areas and children are encouraged to spend time outside developing their gross motor skills and having fun with their friends. Inside you will find warm, cosy environments which are perfect for children to take part in numerous creative and entertaining activities.

The nursery offers the 30 hours funding and is registered to accept Tax-Free Childcare payments.

Funding & Fees

  • The nursery is open to all families who wish to use the service.


    We have 3 options for attendance.


    •   Option 1 Combination of free* and paid hours for the 15 and 30 hours funding stretched over 51 weeks = 11 or 22 hours free per week with all other hours charged for, based on a 10-hour day. Minimum attendance of two days per week. A month’s deposit is required, and fees are charged monthly in arrears.


    •   Option 2 All hours are paid where children are not eligible to receive funding, based on a 10-hour day. Minimum attendance of two days per week. A month’s deposit is required, and fees are charged monthly in arrears.


    •   Option 3 Free hours only* for the 15 and 30 hours funding = 11 or 22 hours free per week for 51 weeks per year with no charge made for this attendance and no deposit payable.


    •   *For options 1 & 3, the times of the free hours are as specified below ONLY
    •   15 hours = 11 hours. 5.5 hours free on days one and two between the hours of 9.30am-3.00pm.
    •   30 hours = 22 hours. 7.5 hours free on days one and two between the hours of 9.00am-4.30pm and 7 hours free on day three between the hours of 9.00am-4.00pm.


    All attendance is over the 51 weeks that we are open. We do not offer term-time only places.


    There is a 9.5% discount for full time attendance of 5 days per week. A 9.5% sibling discount is offered against the eldest child's fees.


    Staff working for Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust have separate fees.

What an absolute gem of a nursery. My daughter loves the staff and setting so much. The team are always smiling and so welcoming to all my family. My daughter has only been with the nursery a couple of months but during her time in the Piglet Room, she has really thrived. Whenever we drive past the
nursery she will shout 'fun'! The outdoor covered play area is such a wonderful space and it's great that regardless of the weather, the children get to enjoy the outdoors. Special thank you to the administration and the piglet team - you're all so wonderful!

My 19 month old twins started here in February. They settled in very well and were able to go to multiple settling in days which really supported them in settling in. They really enjoy going to nursery and are always happy to go in. They have a good relationship with the staff and are very comfortable
with them. They do a range of activities and are always making things to bring home.
They are given a good variety of food which they enjoy.
The nursery is always very clean.
Since starting their speech has really improved.
Myself and their dad are very happy with this nursery and the care they receive whilst there.

Our little one (16 months) has been at Jack in the Box, attending the baby room, for two months now, he was well supported during his transition to a new setting, and this has led to him settling well. He is happy to go in every morning and pleased to see the staff due to all the care and attention
he is shown during his time at nursery. We receive regular feedback from the staff at the collection about what he has eaten, his sleep and the activities he has enjoyed engaging in. It is clear that at nursery, he is being provided with a range of opportunities and experiences, and this can be seen through the photos shared, seeing the opportunities in the setting change at drop-off and collection and in the things he brings home. He enjoys the food he is given at nursery and eats well when he attends.
We are looking forwards to the additional events in the nursery newsletter, which will allow us and our son to continue to build a relationship with his daycare setting. Thank you.

We are having a great experience with Jack in the Box Nursery. My son goes to the baby room. This is our first daycare. Initially, he was very upset to go for the first week but the staff showed him all care and love, now he doesn't want to come home when we go and pick him up. Staff put a lot of effort
into my 17-month-old and taught him how to eat, communicate and play with other kids. He is learning lots and lots of good stuff. As parents, we are very happy with his development. Special thanks to two members of staff, and the others for giving me detailed feedback every single day and taking lots of pictures and sharing them with us.

The staff at the nursery are always very friendly and communicative, with feedback given daily. The team are able to provide a great atmosphere for the children to learn - my son picked up on rhymes pretty quickly (within a couple of months) despite not knowing/being exposed to nursery rhymes prior
to the nursery. I also feel the nursery staff are hot on safety, as they keep the gates locked (main gates are locked during pick up) at all times and gave a detailed report when my son did have a minor fall. I feel great knowing my child is having fun and is safe in the nursery.

Our son has been at Jack in the Box Nursery for the past two years and is now sadly leaving for a more local pre-school.
He made huge progress since starting nursery and transitioning to the pre-school room. He is enthusiastic to go in and loves seeing his friends and key workers. He talks about them
at home too. He was given the opportunity to develop his interests in dinosaurs and cars.
My wife and I are so pleased with the confident, helpful and caring young person he is growing into, and much of that is down to his language and communication development at nursery.
We just wanted to say a huge thank you for looking after him and helping him flourish. He is going to miss you all.

First of all, I want to thank the managers and staff for everything they do for the children. My baby took time to adjust for about 2-3 weeks. From what I noticed, he likes his key workers, and when he sees one particular lady, he is so excited.

Amazing nursery. Staff are so good with kids and my son is only 1-years-old, and I am really happy with the service Jack in the Box provides. Nursery teachers are so friendly! My boy gets excited every morning when we drop him to nursery and goes straight over to the teachers with a big smile on his

All the staff are very friendly and supportive. My son immensely enjoyed his time while in the nursery and dearly talks about all the staff he meets at home and the new friends he comes to play with. My two older boys also went to Jack in the Box, and when it was time for him to attend nursery, we didn't
have any second thoughts about bringing him to Jack in the Box Nursery. We are always updated via emails regarding new policies, and what's new in the nursery, especially during Covid times and special occasions, (especially when they need to dress up) as busy moms, we forget what was handed over to us when come and pick up our children, but thank you for the emails. We would highly recommend Jack in the Box Nursery.

As parents, we really thank all the staff for their support through the pandemic.
My son has really enjoyed from day one, took no time to settle, always excited to go to nursery.
Very spacious and lots of learning activities for kids during the day. Staff are very friendly and children are well taken
care of.

Wonderful nursery! All the staff are so friendly and nice. My son did not take much time to adjust and loves going to nursery. My son has been at Jack in the Box Nursery for one year and he loves going in every morning. The staff are very friendly and have a great rapport with the children. Would say this is one of the best nursery in Slough. All of the staff are so nurturing, supportive and they provide him with so much care,
attention and positivity. I have always found the key workers to be very communicative and the admin team are so efficient. I would definitely recommend Jack in the Box Nursery to anyone considering a nursery in the area.
