Devonshire Day Nursery provides a warm and welcoming environment and ensures that each child’s individual needs and interests are met and nurtured.

Every day is full of activities, led by the highly trained staff team, and following the EYFS principles.

The importance of outdoor play to support social, emotional and physical development is recognised and all children are given access to the garden on a daily basis.

The nursery has a total of nine Dyson Pure Hot and Cool Link fans, two in each of the four rooms and one in reception, projecting and circulating purified air into the rooms.

Devonshire Day Nursery also offer the extracurricular activity of Superstar Sports every Tuesday morning for the Ladybirds, Bumblebees and Butterflies rooms.

This is the first nursery I've sent my boys to, I have been pleasantly surprised at how they settled in, with a lot of comfort and cuddles from the staff when they are upset. During the first few weeks, I would call throughout the day and staff would update me on their progress which was reassuring
for me.

Where do I start; my older child went through this nursery and I must say they gave her the best foundation she needed for a school environment, when she left in 2020. So it was a no brainer to send my younger child here when it was time for him to join the 'formal education world'. The key workers
are all amazing and rare talents, of excellent quality and calibre. They always keep us informed, and the care they show the children is so evident that it’s not just a job to them, they actually care. The reception and admin staff including the kitchen staff are all just wonderful people. You always feel welcomed, plus from interaction etc, you see how seriously they take their jobs. The Devonshire crew are just wonderful. I wish you had a school setting, my kids would be there! Thank you again for being wonderful. I won’t stop recommending you to others.

Devonshire is a fantastic daycare. The staff are both friendly and professional and I feel fully assured that my child is very well looked after. She loves being at the daycare and that’s a huge credit to all the staff and the overall management of the daycare. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

We chose Devonshire Nursery as out of all the nurseries in the area, it was the only place where the staff seemed to be happy.
We started in 2019 and we have both our daughters in the nursery now.
They are developing very well and have made so much progress! In challenging times, we always had the
support of the staff: helping with our daughter's behaviour, potty training, emotional development...
Our daughters are very happy and I recommend the nursery without hesitation.

The staff at Devonshire Day Nursery are truly wonderful. We have been very happy with our experience so far initially in the baby room, Caterpillars and more recently in Ladybirds. We have been amazed by how much our son has learnt in his relatively short time at Devonshire, and really happy with the
range of activities on offer. The outdoor play area in Ladybirds is a massive bonus for us given how much he loves being outside.

Like every new mum, I was worried to leave my daughter at nursery for the first time but I can't imagine a better place than Devonshire to look after her. When we drop off my daughter in the morning I know that she will have a fun-filled day in a really caring environment. She seems to love it. The
staff in the caterpillar room are really first class and do really take fantastic care of my girl.

The staff are very caring and management are great at communicating/informing parents of issues and updates on Covid-19 etc. My son has thrived socially when interacting with children and adults. His confidence is good to see. He often quotes or sings things he has learnt at nursery. I would recommend
the nursery to my friends. I only wish the outdoor garden was larger.

Our son has been attending Devonshire Day Nursery for the last twelve months - first in the caterpillar (baby) room and thereafter in the ladybirds room. He has absolutely loved and responded positively to the staff in both rooms, and we've seen positive behaviours taught and reinforced in both rooms
(sharing, saying please and thank you, doing 'tidy away') and also seen how his interests have evolved and been nurtured over this time (daily feedback from the team's as to what he's enjoying - crafts, cooking, puzzles etc). The app has been really great for identifying what he's been up to, how much of his meals he's eaten (nutritious and made on-site) and we love seeing the photo updates! Really thankful to find such a wonderful, caring, high-standard nursery and we will be sending our second baby along there in due course!

Emmy Avery

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2009

Emmy is the Manager of Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 14 years. Emmy started her career as an Apprentice and has since worked her way up through roles in day nurseries and an independent school.


Emmy has worked for Childbase Partnership for 11 years and has recently gained her BA(Hons) in Early Childhood Studies.


What is your favourite feature of Devonshire?
I love how diverse our team and families are – everyone comes from different walks of life, different ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The team really know their key children and provide experiences for them to help them thrive in all areas. We have achieved so much in the past few years including winning internal company awards, achieving Healthy Years London Silver status, being awarded Silver as part of Eco-Schools and raising a record amount for charity year on year.
