Devonshire Day Nursery provides a warm and welcoming environment and ensures that each child’s individual needs and interests are met and nurtured.

Every day is full of activities, led by the highly trained staff team, and following the EYFS principles.

The importance of outdoor play to support social, emotional and physical development is recognised and all children are given access to the garden on a daily basis.

The nursery has a total of nine Dyson Pure Hot and Cool Link fans, two in each of the four rooms and one in reception, projecting and circulating purified air into the rooms.

Devonshire Day Nursery also offer the extracurricular activity of Superstar Sports every Tuesday morning for the Ladybirds, Bumblebees and Butterflies rooms.

Our experience at Devonshire Day Nursery has been nothing short of wonderful - every element of my daughter's learning is considered and the staff all work consistently to deliver exceptional care. I cannot rate this setting highly enough.

I couldn’t recommended Devonshire Day Nursery more highly! My son started when he was almost six months old and being a first time mom, the concept of leaving him with anyone was terrifying but one particular member of staff and the Caterpillars team instantly made me feel comfortable. My son has absolutely
thrived and grown into such a happy, confident and social little boy. The team are amazing! They are so kind, compassionate and genuinely care for the children they look after. I trust them and knew that every morning that I have dropped my baby boy off at the nursery, he is taken care of in the best possible way. Today was his last day at Devonshire Day Nursery (Chiswick) before we move to Wales. It has been an incredibly emotional day as the team are almost like an extended family to my little boy and he loves them so much. I’m sad to leave and will always remember Devonshire Day Nursery (Chiswick) with so much love and happiness! It’s the best nursery I could ever have imagined for my son. We are so grateful for the amazing team working there.

We really wanted to like Devonshire, and on the surface it was fine. That said, in the 12 weeks we had our daughter there, she had three accidents, was sent home in another child's clothing (and when we stated it was not her clothing, we were told we were wrong) and there always seemed to be a new person
we had never met or been told about looking after her. We were given updates about her meals and nappy changes when she wasn't in the nursery and picking her up took at least a half an hour because they didn't have a good system in place. They also forgot her full name a few times as they had "so many" with her first name (that was said to us more than once).
Ultimately, the miscommunication and constant worry about what was really going on, who was looking after her and why she kept having accidents were too much and we moved her to another local nursery where we have had no issues. Not bad, but not good enough.

My son started going to the Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick last September. This nursery is absolutely brilliant and I could not imagine finding a better place for my child. Our key person, is a godsend. My son loves going to the nursery and always leaves this place in a fantastic mood. We regularly
receive updates on his progress and photos from his day. The food is very healthy and the kids learn a lot through playing. Great place, great staff and a wonderful environment for the children.

I cannot imagine a better nursery. Handing over my firstborn to a nursery was both scary and emotionally difficult. But the wonderful team of the Devonshire Nursery took from day 1 excellent care of my son and helped him to integrate in no time. My child comes home happy and learns so much every day.
The food is very healthy and the place is very clean. I regularly receive updates through an app and have the chance to speak to his key person anytime. All in all, it is a fantastic nursery with very friendly and professional staff and with very happy children. Highly recommendable!

The staff are welcoming and professional. Settling in during a time when we cannot enter nursery was a little nervewracking but the staff were so attuned to my child's needs that I was immediately put at ease. My child eats nourishing healthy meals and I am so happy she is settling in well in such a
caring and nurturing environment. Her communication has improved so much thanks to the effective learning and communication via a parent app helps me follow her progress. The outdoor play area is my child's favourite - it's fantastic with lots for her to climb and explore. Finally, email communication and newsletters are very excellent and detailed. A happy mum here!

My daughter has always been a clingy child. It took us 3 weeks for her to settle in properly but after that she changed to a different child. Now she runs to the nursery's front door and grabs the manager's hand and go inside without looking behind. I feel useless now hahaha. Every day at pickup time
her key worker mentions how my daughter makes the most of her day, she became a chatterbox and doesn't stop a single minute. The key worker must be exhausted, bless her! All of these are very good signs this is a lovely place. We had a completely different and awful experience with my son in other places so knowing my daughter is thriving at Devonshire Day Nursery makes my life a breeze.

Cannot recommend Devonshire Day Nursery and all the staff enough!
Wife and I are key workers and we were anxious when lockdown occurred when our little boy was only 13 months and a month into nursery. However, we need not have worried at all!
Devonshire stayed open for us a few other key worker families
and I can honestly say they were fantastic! Now he is 19 months old and I know he loves going to Devonshire. All the staff are lovely and you know they really care and are passionate about looking after the children. We go to work knowing that our child is safe, happy and in a truly nurturing environment.
It's great to get up to date feedback on how he is doing day by day along with the little things like how he is eating and sleeping. Especially impressed about how varied and nutritious the menu is!
Totally recommend Devonshire Day Nursery and thank you to the whole team!

Certain staff are amazing - friendly and welcoming and make an effort to know families as a whole - invaluable!
Others, such as new, key people, have never introduced themselves to either parent.
The English/grammar/spelling written by staff on Parentzone is atrocious and really should be checked
before being published - worrying for children's formative speech/reading/writing skills!
Meals are varied and balanced.
Overall, a decent nursery with no day to day issues - our babies love it and their care!

My child is very happy here, she has made lots of friends and has learned a lot. She looks forward to coming in. I am always impressed by the range and variety of creative and engaging activities that are provided for her during the day, there is something new every day. The staff are caring and hardworking

Emmy Avery

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2009

Emmy is the Manager of Devonshire Day Nursery in Chiswick and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 14 years. Emmy started her career as an Apprentice and has since worked her way up through roles in day nurseries and an independent school.


Emmy has worked for Childbase Partnership for 11 years and has recently gained her BA(Hons) in Early Childhood Studies.


What is your favourite feature of Devonshire?
I love how diverse our team and families are – everyone comes from different walks of life, different ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The team really know their key children and provide experiences for them to help them thrive in all areas. We have achieved so much in the past few years including winning internal company awards, achieving Healthy Years London Silver status, being awarded Silver as part of Eco-Schools and raising a record amount for charity year on year.
