My son joined Brightsparks in January at just 11 months old, and naturally I felt apprehensive about leaving him in a childcare setting for the first time. However, from the very first settling-in session, I was completely reassured.
The team are consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely pleased
to see him each day. It's clear that they truly care about his wellbeing and development. He settled in remarkably quickly and now beams with excitement when we arrive, which speaks volumes about how comfortable and happy he feels there.
I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. I feel confident and at ease knowing my son is in such capable and caring hands.

My son recently transferred to Brightsparks Old Coulsdon from a different setting, and I was quite nervous about how he'd adjust as he can find it hard to settle into new environments. But I honestly couldn't have asked for a smoother transition. The staff (especially toddler room staff) were so attentive
and understanding from the very start, making sure he felt comfortable and supported every step of the way. Thanks to their care and patience, he settled in much quicker than I expected. It's been a few months now, and it genuinely feels like he's been there the whole time. He goes in happily each day and comes home full of excitement about what he's done. I'm so grateful to the team for making this such a positive experience for him, and for us as a family.
Highly recommend!

We've had a really positive experience transitioning our one year old to nursery with Brightsparks - great staff and really communicative with parents.
They do different activities all the time, spend time outdoors, and have a varied and healthy menu for the children.

We've used this nursery for both our first and second child, and it has truly become a part of our family. It's a worry-free, reliable place where we've always felt confident our children are in the best hands. The staff are all so lovely, warm, and welcoming - we feel very lucky to have found such
a good team. The balance between early years learning and fun is spot on, with great attention given to helping children develop ready for school. The app is useful for staying connected with our child's progress, and communication from management is always clear and proactive. We couldn't recommend this nursery more highly.

Brightsparks at Old Coulsdon has been great and we've never had issues. Our daughter has been here for a year nor and has moved up /changed three rooms over the year. The staff have been amazing in all the rooms.
The manager does a great job in managing the team and is very responsive on emails. Secondly
you get regular updates on your child, including pictures and a brief message on what activities they are planning with the kids and how it develops their learning/speech.
All the room leads have been great and make my little feel right at home. She's always super excited to be there. Would highly recommend. Only downside, I wish the car park was closer as its a good walk to nursery from the car park.

Our daughter has been attending the Nursey since Jan 2025 and she has developed so much since joining! Her eating skills have improve vastly as well as her speech. She loves all of the staff there, enjoys being there and doesn't even notice when mummy is gone now as the staff are so warm and welcoming.
We know she is safe there and loved. Would highly recommend this Nursey and having the walk really helps ensure that children get some time outside no matter what the weather.
Management is amazing! Always quick to reply, approachable, visible and friendly. The door it literally always open and can as anything and not feel silly - this is especially important when your a new parent.
The only bit of feedback thing that would be helpful is for there to be more lights on the path for the winter days (this might be down to the school though!) and a few more Brighrsparks Stars on the fence/path as our daughter loves following them on the way in - it's become a little game for her :)

My children have been coming to Bright Sparks since 2019 and when they finish this summer it will be the end of a special era. I honestly cannot fault the nursery, the facilities and the staff. I have always found members of staff to be open, helpful, pro-active, considerate and supportive. The security
of the premises is great - being nestled within the high school grounds, the nursery is regularly being updated with new equipment / fresh decoration and garden furniture. Management are very understanding and supportive whenever there are special arrangements relating to my child and communication is very strong.

My son has been attending Brightsparks Old Coulsdon since Jan 2023. The staff have always been very communicative with us as parents, from drop off to collection and with the daily diaries inbetween. The nursery is really well run by management. We are confident sending him each day as know he has a
super time with both structured play and learning.

I cannot recommend Brightsparks enough. All three of my children have attended, and over the years the level of care has not faulted. I feel the children have definitely benefitted from attending a smaller setting; the staff know the children's likes and dislikes and are always encouraging them to try
something new.
The facilities and resources are also constantly being refreshed.
Communication from management is great and any worries are addressed immediately.

The staff are wonderful and always doing to much with the children, all the messy play I would worry about doing at home because of the mess he gets to experience here.My son loves his key worker and the weekly sing and sign they get to do.

My oldest attended Brightsparks from 2017 and I quickly enrolled my youngest when she was born in 2021. I didn't want my second to attend any other nursery as I knew she would be well looked after. All the staff are so caring and quickly learn your children's likes and dislikes.
I will be sad when
my eldest leaves this year but I know they have given my daughter the building blocks to be a happy confidential little girl when she starts big school.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.911 for Brightsparks Day Nursery, Old Coulsdon is calculated as follows: ( (504 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 550 Ratings = 4.911
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brightsparks Day Nursery, Old Coulsdon is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 number of registered child places is 9.8, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
