The staff and administration have been taking care of our daughter for almost 2 years now. While at Bright Horizons St John's Wood we have seen her build wonderful relationships with peers and adults. We have seen her skills, language development, passion to learn and confidence grow because of the
adults in the building. More importantly, my husband and I know that she is loved and cared for by all. Upon reading their most recent Ofsted report, I could not disagree more with the judgments. The snapshot of that day does not reflect what we have experienced for almost 21 months. I am confident that her safety and emotional well-being is of utmost importance to all of those associated with this nursery.

The staff in the building know the children well and it feels like a family as soon as you enter the gate. We know that when our 9-month-old son begins in a few weeks, he will be welcomed with open arms.

Our daughter has been lovingly guided and nurtured at Bright Horizons St Johns Wood for the last 15 months. The only reason she is now leaving is because she has 'graduated' nursery and will be starting 'Big Girl School' next week. We are sad to leave Bright Horizons, as the entire staff have been incredibly
loving, supportive and professional to my daughter and each of us in the family. I was appalled at the last Ofsted scoring that Bright Horizons St Johns Wood was given as it in no way reflects the high-quality care, supportive management and nurturing facility that my daughter has benefited from. If I could appeal the scoring on behalf of Bright Horizons I would, as I can think of no safer place to send my children. Any parent conducting due diligence on nurseries in St Johns Wood for their child would do well to consider Bright Horizons St Johns Wood. It has been a wonderful experience!!

My son has been attending nursery full time for almost two years. He is incredibly happy at nursery and has formed strong connections with his fellow pupils and staff. The staff know him well and are always available to offer advice and support. The nursery was disappointed with the recent Ofsted rating
and - as a parent - I believe it is an unfair reflection on the nursery. My only concerns with the nursery over the past two years have been in connection to its head office, which I do not believe provides all the support the nursery staff requires. The nursery staff are exceptional.

The staff are the most important resource the nursery has - I hope that Bright Horizons recognises this and provides all the support (career development/resources/logistics) they need.

Having had 2 children at this nursery, and now looking for a new nursery (as we are moving houses), we under appreciated how great Bright Horizons St Johns Wood really is. While we gave the nursery glowing reviews before, the standard of care, attitude of the staff and general sense of well-being of
the kids, is far beyond that of other nurseries which we have recently viewed.

We have been very pleased with the nursery. Our son has thrived there. The teachers are incredibly kind and warm. All the staff have been incredibly helpful and have gone out of their way to make our son's adjustment to his new preschool class a huge success.

There is a real home away from home environment provided for the children. During dropping off/picking up my daughter, you see the children who attend are happy, settled and love their teachers. The staff and management are fantastic - all very welcoming, friendly and caring.

There is great communication

between the management/staff and parents – regular emails and newsletters informing parents of nursery updates and events. Since our daughter started at St John's Wood nursery she has thrived and blossomed, which wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance and love of her preschool class and teachers.

We had a bad experience with a previous nursery and the staff made sure it was a smooth transition, updating along the way on her progress. She absolutely loves pre-school and has had some wonderful experiences – all holidays are celebrated and learnt about which the children love and really get involved in. I think my daughter’s favourite was Holi and Easter bonnet making – she still talks about it now.

Our son joined this nursery when he was 10 months old and over the past three years, he has progressed throughout all classes (Baby room, Toddlers room, 2-3s room & now at Preschool). The management and teaching staff have been very supportive during 'difficult' times, i.e. teething/refusal to eat,
toilet training, adjusting upon return from holiday breaks etc. Preschool has proved to be a great learning experience for our son, both in terms of knowledge but for his own personal development, that we decided to extend his attendance in this class for another year! A big thank you to all the teachers!!

My son started when he was 5 months old and he even did not sit at the time. All weaning routine was set up by nursery staff and I just had to follow the same at home. That made the whole process so easy! I highly recommend it to all moms and dads.

The nursery is a home from home for my son. He has a great time, his development is progressing well, he gets to eat interesting food and gets lots of love and cuddles, which is important, as its a long day.

Our daughter started at bright horizons when she was only 8 months old and spent a wonderful year and a half there. We, unfortunately, had to leave the nursery because we moved house. The carers are really enthusiastic and loving and you can see it in the smiles of all the happy children who attend.
The children have a great new outdoor area and lots of activities to keep them happy and busy. Management is really friendly and was really responsive to our requests. Communication with the parents and between the staff is excellent. When there was a problem, steps were quickly taken to produce an action plan to ensure it didn't happen again. Meals looked great and our daughter certainly preferred them to what we had at home! The children were never left to go hungry and had healthy snacks in between meals. Our daughter loved the nursery as did we, and all the staff there were like one big happy family. All in all, a brilliant nursery and we would highly recommend it.

My son started at Bright Horizons St John's Wood Nursery and Preschool when he was 2 and a half years old. My wife and I have always been impressed by the warm and friendly environment at the nursery and we've seen my son develop and mature significantly during the 2 years he spent there. The facilities
are excellent (and recently further renovated improved) and he particularly enjoyed the cooked meals each day which introduce a very healthy and varied diet. His creative side has been unlocked during the numerous hours of painting and drawing and we've seen measurable improvements in his speech and confidence month after month. Most importantly though, he enjoys going every day. He often asks can he go even when it is not a nursery day he is that keen. We already recommended the nursery to a couple of friends who sent their child shortly after ours joined 2 years ago and they were not disappointed either.

Our daughter loves nursery. She has been there since she was in the baby room, giving her a strong bond with many of the staff in each room she's been in (she's currently in 2-3s). The activities are varied, the food is excellent and the personal care is fantastic and the learning and discipline reflect
how we bring her up. We never have any worries about leaving her, even on days when she might be a little tired or a little clingy - within minutes she's settled and happy.

The initial search for my baby's childcare was a daunting experience but my daughter has been attending Bright Horizons in St John's Wood for nearly 3 years now and I have been very pleased. I have peace of mind that she is in good hands while I am at work and the staff who take care of her have her
best interests at heart. She has been very happy there with staff and other children alike. Food is healthy and nutritious and children are involved in activities from French class to baking to outdoor free play. To be recommended.

My son started at this nursery at 9 months. The staff were so warm and helped us both with the settlement process. He has come on leaps and bounds during the 6 months attending. His emotional and social development skills are superb. The staff have become our extended family and I am a very happy working
mother, knowing my pride and joy is in safe hands.

Caring and professional staff and nice atmosphere for the children. My boy clearly enjoys going here every day. The nursery communicates regularly with parents and they are clearly very concerned about safety, which is obviously absolutely crucial. The key selling point as with all of these things are
the staff. They really are great.

Our son has been attending the nursery for two years. The staff has always been helpful and we trusted them through the years.
The toddlers down is a very big bright room with a private outdoor area. Toddlers up and above 3 are upstairs, maybe not very big rooms, but the children can also go in the
outdoor area downstairs on the front of the building. It has been recently renovated and this is worth a plus. Apparently, our son eats all his meat and vegetables at the nursery and rejects both of them at home. And this is a very big plus.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.287)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.287) out of 10 for Bright Horizons St John's Wood Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.824 for Bright Horizons St John's Wood Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.824
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.463 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons St John's Wood Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 number of registered child places is 16. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.563
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
