Located close to the Old Street Tube station, Co-op Childcare Islington has bright, spacious rooms for each of their age groups. They bring the outdoors inside as they've created a sensory garden area, a beach and an indoor Gruffalo nature walk.

The nursery goes above and beyond for safety which is why ALL its staff are paediatric first-aid trained. They keep parents informed on what their child has been up to all day including observations, assessments, meals, (and even toilet training progress!) using an app called ParentZone.

The team know that little things can make a big difference, so they make sure to give children lots of hands-on experiences through activities such as growing food (and eating it!), and doing their bit for the environment. They will also make regular visits to a local care home and be involved with a global eco-schools programme, making them aware of their environment and local community.

I honestly couldn't recommend this nursery enough. The staff in the Butterflies room are absolutely amazing, and I want to give a special mention to Jemma and Anne Marie, who have truly gone above and beyond for both me and my son.
As a single, full-time working parent, finding a nursery that not only
cares for your child but genuinely supports you as well means everything. They have made my life so much easier, and I couldn't ask for more.
Since starting here, my son's communication skills have come on so much. His confidence has grown, his social skills have developed beautifully, and he now has so many little friends. Most importantly, he genuinely loves coming to nursery, which says it all.
Thank you for everything you do for me and my son. It does not go unappreciated.
Reply from Anne-Marie Lawrence, Manager at Co-op Childcare IslingtonThank you so much, for your beautiful comments. Jemma and I are passionate about the role we play and always will ensure our children's care, learning and development is and remains paramount. We endeavour to make and maintain positive relationships with families and offer as much support as is possible.

All staff are welcoming and lovely. My child loves it there. Honestly gonna be so sad when in a few years he has to go to regular school. They are so patience with him not saying many words. I can genuinely feel the care for him from everyone there and the updates are 100% needed and something I look
forward to.
Reply from Anne-Marie Lawrence, Manager at Co-op Childcare IslingtonThank you so much for your comments - We try not to think about our children moving on, as most of us would be crying so often, instead we focus on ensuring they get the best care, learning and development opportunities whilst having the most fun, through their interest, with their peers and other role models.

I honestly love this nursery!! Everything about it is just so great. The staff are supportive, and incredibly patient - they truly do their jobs with passion.
I was very hesitant when my child first started, but they supported us from day one. Even with food, if my child asks for more, they happily
give it. They keep the children engaged with a variety of activities, all thoughtfully tailored to support each child's development.
We had some concerns about our child, and they worked closely with us to address them. Now my child goes in happily and says "bye bye!"
There are CCTV cameras throughout, which gives great peace of mind as everything is secure and traceable if needed. They also use an excellent app that's regularly updated with details about meals, sleep, nappy changes, plus photos and activity updates twice a week.
They also offer discounts during specific months, which they announce in advance - giving parents the opportunity to book extra days at a reduced price.

Staff are very attentive to my child and present in play and learning. All friendly and welcoming and make my child feel at ease despite changes with her allocated key worker.
The food served is nutritional and varies week to week on a rotation which is good to enhance children's palates and discourage
fussy eating

An outstanding nursery that prioritises both fun and holistic development. My daughter has come on in leaps and bounds since joining. We love the variety of activities and the regular updates we receive via the app. It's clear the staff are passionate about the Early Years curriculum and they go above
and beyond to build positive and nurturing relationship with all the children!
Thanks for making the settling period so easy! Your all great!

Nursery's amazing, I have very clingy twins that have been there for a short time. All of the staff make sure they feel at ease once I've left, which makes me feel less guilty. They always end the day with big smiles on their faces and tell me what a great day they've had!
Reply from Anne-Marie Lawrence, Manager at Co-op Childcare IslingtonThank you for taking time to give such lovely comments about the setting. It is a pleasure having them both here and keeping us on our toes whilst they explore their environment and make friends.

This place is such a hidden gem and we are so lucky to of found this nursery. Since starting in September everyday learning is different, the meals are always fresh ( and on time even when short staff ) and the children are constantly smiling when I drop off or collect my son. Every member of staff
is happy, polite and engaging with the parents as well as the children. The lead up to the festive period was full of fun activities, parties and of course playing - the extra effort that staff went to is greatly appreciated, they always go above and beyond and I love the bond my son has with everyone here - thank you to everyone at coop Islington x

My little girl grace has been coming here for a little while now and I have to say how happy and proud I am of the work you all do for her. Her eating has improved incredibly, she will eat anything you put infront of her. Awareness is 100x better when talking to her she gives alot more eye contact now.
For anybody reading the reviews my grace is on the spectrum but since coming here the improvement with everything has gone up 10 fold. Thank you for everything you do not only for grace but for all those lovely kiddos in there. John

My daughter has been here since she was 7 months old. She's now 14 months and the best review she could possibly give is her excitement and hand waving when she meets the nursery staff every morning. I know she's safe and happy here.

They're also great at updating the app so I always know what her

day was like. There's lots of activities every day which she seems to enjoy, and the staff share photos on the app as well. Food is varied and she has been supported to learn how to eat independently.

Overall, I know she's safe and happy here, and that's what matters to me.

Reply from Anne-Marie Lawrence, Manager at Co-op Childcare IslingtonThank you so much for your review, we have also observed her grow and develop with some much confidence. She is always smiling whilst exploring, socializes comfortably with the team and her peers and is know doing the queens wave when coming in and leaving.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.895)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.895) out of 10 for Co-op Childcare Islington is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.895 for Co-op Childcare Islington is calculated as follows: ( (248 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.895
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Co-op Childcare Islington is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 number of registered child places is 15.6, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
