I have two children at Balham Day Nursery and have great confidence in their safety, development and happiness. The staff are always communicative and make me feel like they know exactly how our children's day has been. The nursery is run professionally and securely.

We have been at Asquith Balham Day Nursery since 2013 when our first son started. His younger brother is there now. They both have loved their experience and we feel very happy with the service they provide.

They focus on the child's individual development in a caring, friendly and safe environment.

From music and fun activities doing art and messy play, cooking and lots of outdoor adventures in the garden, social skills and sharing, to Phonics and writing, they cover it all.

Our first son was there for three and a half years and found the transition to school very good. Evidence that Asquith did a great job in preparing him for his next big step!

We would absolutely recommend Asquith Balham Day Nursery.

My son has been coming to the nursery full time since he was 9 months, he's now 2.5years and every morning he's asking when he can leave to go to nursery. He loves it! The range of activities is very extensive and diverse and he does things I would have never thought about. The garden is simply amazing,
perfect for our very sporty and active boy. The Sporty Minis programme that the nursery offers is also excellent and a weekly highlight. He is learning so much and becoming a very confident little boy.
The staff are fantastic, all so nurturing and caring and management are superb and constantly looking to make improvements. My daughter is now settling in the baby room and we are delighted she'll soon be joining in the fun.

My mother came with us for the recent Christmas concert and commented that the nursery is like our extended family with so many people caring deeply for our children but also great friendships amongst the children and parents - she is right.

Balham Day nursery is a very welcoming and caring nursery it has an amazing team that has made my child feel very welcomed within the baby room I feel as a parent my child is engaged in a variety of stimulating activities that allow her to develop in the best possible way I also feel that staff interaction
Is outstanding as the staff within the baby room engage with my child very well I am pleased with my child key worker as she has helped settle my child. The Manager and Room Leader are very welcoming and are both approachable with any concerns that anyone may have. They are very staff orientated as they both go above and beyond for their staff. They listen well to their staff when and If the staff members have any concerns or problems they need to discuss they also try to make the best solutions for staff and the office door is always open for staff to be able to express themselves and support staff with either their training or furthering themselves.

My son attends the baby room at Balham Day Nursery and I cannot be more happier with his progress and development since he started. He is now a confident walker. The staff always make sure there are lots of toys and activities available. He has the best keyworker a parent could ask for, she knows and
understands him really well and goes out of her way to help him achieve his own individual goals and milestones. He always has artwork and crafts to bring home which makes me a proud parent and assures me that he is learning. The baby room staff team are great, they are always friendly, approachable and working to the best of their ability to make sure every individual child is safe, happy and cared for in a warm, caring environment.

My daughter has attended Balham Day Nursery for over three years and my son started a couple of months ago. Both children love going - my daughter views her pre-school nursery teachers as part of her family. She loves the activities that are arranged and has many friends there. My son has allergies
and the staff are doing excellent work to help manage this.

Our daughter really loves coming here (she started at ten months and is now 1.5 years old). She loves socialising and enjoys running around in the fun outdoor areas. The staff are really excellent- very caring; they put a lot of thought into the children's development. The kitchen staff are great too-
the meals are tasty and varied. My daughter loves her food and is getting really good at eating with a fork! Her speech is developing nicely and I'm so pleased that she has such a great time at nursery. She is there long hours- around 11 hours a day for five days a week- but never seems bored. I love to see her artwork too, which she takes home to show off!

It's a great place to send your children. Both ours have been there for 2 and 3 years and they love it.
The outside space is great but the best thing is the staff who care for our kids with so much love.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.878) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Balham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Bright Horizons Balham Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (233 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 263 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Balham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 number of registered child places is 13, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
