Crews Hill Day Nursery and Pre-School is a fantastic nursery staffed by a team of trained Early Years practitioners who have a wealth of expertise in providing quality care and education to children aged 3 months to 5 years.

As well as offering light and bright indoor areas, children at the nursery are encouraged to spend time in the garden, which is educationally designed to encourage children to wander, climb, splash.

The team recognise the importance of building and maintaining parent partnerships, and aim to secure bonds between each child and the nursery team by providing daily updates and photos about your child’s routine and activities.

By always encouraging natural curiosity, the nursery team work tirelessly to give children a 'head start' as they take their next steps into the big, exciting world.

I can’t thank everyone at Head Start Day Nursery. The progress our son has made since joining in September 2022 is above and beyond anything we could have ever expected. He is so much more confident and is so happy every time I drop him off. He loves all his nursery teachers and they have such a nurturing,
caring way with him! The best decision we have made as parents!

I have placed both of my children here and couldn't be happier. The team are so friendly and accommodating and work tirelessly to provide the children at the nursery wonderful experiences, fun activities and new opportunities of learning. Our cousins little one started with Crews Hill Nursery which helped us make the decision to do the same. The team have been very welcoming and accommodating of any needs or preferences and spent the time to assure us of any queries we have. The management are very efficient and are always on hand to

My one year old has recently started at Head Start Crew Hill and I can honestly say we are so pleased that we chose this nursery. The care she receives is so lovely and I'm sure it has made the transition easier for her. The staff all knew her name straight away and make a fuss when she arrives in
the mornings. They've been really supportive encouraging me to call up to check in on her if I have needed to and going through any questions I have when I drop her off. This has made a big different to me as a parent whilst I adjust to the change! My husband and I both love the app that shows pictures of her that day and tells us when she slept, what she ate and how many nappy changes she had that day. We really look forward to seeing this each day. The nursery also provides a weekly newsletter letting us know the activities for that week and also reminders on things we might need to know/do.

My little one started with the team at Head Start Day Nursery Crews Hill and we couldn’t be happier. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. My child has settled in well and is always happy when collected. The food offered is of a good variation - I wish I could have lunch there!

A lovely nursery with caring and happy staff, our baby settled in very quickly with their key worker. Very happy to have chosen this nursery and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. The grounds are lovely too.

My daughter has been attending Head Start Day Nursery Crews Hill since January 2022 and I couldn’t be happier with the choice we have made. We knew from the moment we walked in that this was the right nursery for us. The outdoor space is wonderful and the team is just great. The staff are caring and
supportive and we feel happy and confident to leave our baby in their care. The communication is just great and we get regular updates from the room based staff as well as weekly updates from the management team. As someone who is from an education background I must add that the learning opportunities are just exceptional. They even have chickens in their garden which the children help to care for. The food is freshly made on site and my little one is definitely fed really well.

Our child has been with Head Start Day Nursery in Crews Hill from the age of 18 months to 2 years and has loved every day. He wakes up on Monday and Tuesday every week excited to go to nursery and talks about all the staff and his little mates. The grounds are great, the welfare is exemplary and we
are gutted we are moving elsewhere as he has such an amazing experience. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We sent our son to Head Start from 9 months old and now at 13 months we have moved out of the area and will be leaving Head Start. As a young July baby, we were nervous for the start of nursery but Head Start have been so welcoming and accommodating to our needs in the under 2's room. The nursery have
a fantastic settling-in period and have been so supportive in helping us with our journey of weaning which has taken some patience. They are all very dedicated staff who are all smiley and happy in the mornings which helps us feel at ease as parents when drop-off can be tearful for the baby.
Would definitely recommend and come back if we are local again.

I can't rate the nursery highly enough. My son is 18 months, and gets excited every morning that I get him out of the car to take him in! My daughter went to a neighbouring nursery where most of the staff used to work, and this is the main reason I decided to send my son to Head Start Day Nursery Crews
Hill. All the staff have the children's welfare and happiness as their main priority. They have a lovely caring nature and my son loves his teachers. The management of the nursery is 2nd to none. There are regular well-being initiatives, environmental projects, daily educational lessons, sports, and crafts to broaden the childrens learning. The food provided is great quality, homemade and varied. There are lots of plans for improvement and communication is excellent. The outside space cannot be beaten in Enfield! The children are encouraged to develop, be independent and grow. I couldn't ask for more!

We returned to the nursery after a period away with a second child that was new to the nursery and the nursery itself was under new management. Generally, we’ve been very impressed with how it is managed, how proactively staff react to questions and issues raised and how comfortable and content our
child feels in the setting. We welcome the management’s response to feedback and find them and all the staff very approachable. It’s been great to know also that our child has been exposed to a variety of activities - both those internally run and those brought in from external companies - and I think this makes a big difference to children who have been born and raised during the pandemic. The food offered and general welfare also seem to be of a very high standard. The staff also should be credited for continuing to work under challenging circumstances due to the pandemic and have a very family-focused approach - something which is really welcome at this time.

Our son has attended head start crews hill since he was 11 months old and is now 4 and in his final year at the nursery.
He has received amazing care and support at the nursery. The staff are what makes the nursery stand out from others. They genuinely care and make a real connection with the children.
Our son adores the girls and all they do to make his learning fun!
Our son will be leaving the nursery able to read, spell and write his name, sing and read the alphabet. Count to 100 and write his favourite words clearly. He amazes me with how far he has come.
He absolutely loves the sports classes they have on a Monday and the Spanish classes on a Friday.
The nursery has improved over the years and lots of investment is being made to keep that momentum going.
The outside space was a huge attraction to us when choosing the nursery and the children get so much benefit from this all year round.

All the staff are friendly, the food choices are amazing. The location is great with nature on the doorstep for the children to learn. All in all a great nursery, my little one has been so happy here and is excited to go every day.

Our son has been attending Head Start Day Nursery for nearly 2 years now and we are so happy that we chose the setting for him. He loves playing outdoors so we are pleased that he can spend a lot of time in the amazing outdoor areas of the nursery. The staff are all so caring and attentive, our son
has additional needs and the nursery Special Educational Needs Coordinator has been brilliant and informative and helpful on that front too. The daily activities are great for learning, the menu is varied and healthy, and our son is always very happy to go to nursery in the mornings. The nursery is in a lovely location with lots of outside space, which the children have access to all day. Parking is really easy in the dedicated car park, which takes the stress out of drop off/pick up.
The facilities inside and out are fantastic, catering for a range of interests, and educational
activities are provided each day.
The team communicate with parents regularly via a daily app, and details of the activities the children have done are shared in a weekly email.
The staff are warm and caring towards the children, and go above and beyond to make sure they’re happy. It’s so lovely to speak to them at the end of the day about your child’s day, and see how proud they are of their achievements. The management is also very open and always happy to help, with a compassionate approach. They’ve been flexible for my family when we’ve needed it, which we really appreciate.
Couldn’t recommend the nursery more highly!

I spent a long time researching the best nursery in which to place my 3 year old son. I wanted my son to attended a nursery that I felt offered my child more than playschool or preshool. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough.
My son started in February. Prior to starting he was very, very
clingy, which increased my fear of leaving him. All the staff have gone out of their way to ensure he has the most positive experience. He now wakes up and asks if he's going to nursery today and is super excited to go. His key worker and staff seem genuinely happy to see him on the days he attends and I notice a jump in speak and language the day after he attends. His most favourite activities are outdoor based, which there is a good access too.
Overall, a nurturing, caring and educational environment which I am happy and reassured to leave my previous little one in. Thank you to all the staff who always have time to listen to me and give me thorough feedback.

Our son loves attending pre-school, and since his attendance he's made a number of friends and his speech has improved dramatically.


We were nervous about choosing the right pre-school for our son, but we're very happy with the choice we made and are excited to learn that improvements will soon

Head Start at Crews Hill is in the most beautiful setting. The children are free to spend the entire day outdoors if they want to versus only having set times each day. This was one of the main reasons for choosing this nursery. Since starting 5 months ago, we have noticed such a change in our little

Hello, I'm Stephanie, and I am the Nursery Manager at Head Start Day Nursery & Pre-school, Crews Hill.


I joined Head Start Day Nursery in April 2021 as the Deputy Manager and led SENCO. Alongside this, I also support the staff and children in our rooms.


I have over 12 years of childcare experience alongside my BA Hons, both of which I use to provide support to the staff, children, and parents. High-quality care and the happiness of the children at the nursery are my main priorities. If a child feels safe and happy in their environment, we are able to help them learn and develop.
