WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 25TH MAY 2026

Clever Cats & Clever Kittens This week we have been having fun focusing on Elmer enjoying the various stories and talking about how we are all unique. We have also been learning some new vocabulary to help us communicate with our peers and practitioners!

The children have been practicing sitting in place for story time. They voted for their chosen story and was encouraged to sit for the whole story as we practice our ‘good sitting’ ready for school!

Next week the Graduates will be recapping on some of the skills we have been learning this half term, such as trying to write our numbers 1 to 10, fastening various zips, looking at ABAB patterns and seeing if they can continue them! 

Ladybirds Next week in the Ladybirds Room, we will be learning and exploring caterpillars and butterflies. We will get messy and create crafts of butterflies using different resources that we will then take home. We will also be exploring playdough developing our fine motor skills by using different tools such as rolling pins and playdough cutters to create butterflies. We will develop our communication and language skills by reading the story ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’.

Butterflies Next week in the Butterfly room, our theme will be Caterpillars and Butterflies. The children will enjoy simple sensory play, painting, songs and story time linked to colourful caterpillars and butterflies. We will be exploring different textures, colours and movements through fun activities!
