Blossoms Day Nursery is a purpose built setting, based within the village of Hambleton, providing childcare for children aged 0-5 years old.

The nursery operates from four rooms; a baby room, an infant room, a toddler room and a pre-school room. Each room consists of pathways for children to browse their environment at their own leisure. Rooms are carefully designed to ensure that when a child is browsing their environment, they are still learning within every area of the room.

The nursery adopt the Reggio Emilia approach in their practice. The Reggio Emilia belief is that all children are capable, creative and intelligent. At Blossoms, practitioners work with the child as an active collaborator, both adult and child learning together. They encourage children to investigate and explore their own questions, theories and ideas about what is happening in the world around them. They support their investigations into these questions through creativity, allowing children to lead and develop their own pieces of work.

Blossoms Day Nursery promote learning outdoors as it develops the children’s relationship with nature, and also include resources that are as natural as possible for learning whilst indoors. The children are supported in their creative ideas, and they believe no idea is wrong. Staff study and learn from the children and extend their ideas to see where it leads.

My child has been at Blossoms day nursery for over a year and absolutely loves it! The staff are very friendly and supportive - my child is so excited to go and smiles when they get in the room. The nursery is very good with dietary requirements and helped us so much with my child's weaning which we
previously struggled with due to reflux. The staff update the app during the day so you have information on nappy changes, what your child has eaten, the activities they've done and how long they've slept for, etc. The nursery itself is very clean and the outdoor space is great for the little ones. Management are very responsive to emails and are more than happy to help with any enquiry. I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone.

We are so impressed with Blossoms Day Nursery and our son loves attending which brings us so much joy, especially when the prospect of leaving your child in the care of others can be so daunting. The children have the opportunity to participate in so many different activities and the themes are often
topical or have even been related to our son's personal interests which is really special. There is always a sense of calm in the nursery, meal times are wonderfully relaxed and the staff are extremely kind, caring and attentive. Some other small details we appreciate are the opportunities that parents have to get involved and attend nursery, the Blossoms app with really useful and enjoyable updates throughout the day, and the extra activities for the children to take home that are placed in reception. We feel extremely lucky to have found Blossoms for our son and we are grateful that it was highly recommended to us by our antenatal class leader.

The staff are wonderful. They support my little boys development well and feedback at the end of each day positivity and succinctly. The variation in the meals over the week is brilliant allowing my little one to try meals that he might not otherwise get to eat. The activities are exciting and support
all areas of development. I especially like the App as this let's me check in on my little one whenever I need to while at work.

The staff at Blossoms are very attentive and really get to know the children as individuals. They organise and run such varied activities that are appropriate for the age of the children. They have various rooms so the children are with peers of a similar age and development so activities are tailored.
Both my children love attending this nursery.

Fantastic nursery, kind and caring staff, excellent environment and endless learning opportunities for the children. My little boy has been attending for over a year now and my newborn is on the list to start when she turns 9 months. I trust Blossoms 100% with caring for my children. They provide excellent
opportunities for the children in their care. Their focus on cultural capital is evident and my son learns so much. He absolutely loves nursery and speaks so highly of his key worker who is so nurturing with him. I wouldn't want to send my children anywhere else.

My child has been at Blossoms nursery nearly 2 years and I am so happy with the choice of sending him there. I love that they have an app so I can see updates throughout the day as this helped me settle more especially when I was first sending him or times where he was upset when I dropped him off.
The staff are lovely too and it's comforting to see my son forming a nice relationship with them.

My son has been going to blossoms since he was just over 1 year old and now he is in the pre school room. He loves attending and has grown in confidence and development. The nursery staff are always so supportive professional and clearly love their job . They make lots of effort -go out of their way
to make events special like Christmas, Easter for both the children and the parents . They teach the children about the outside world with lots of different ideas and resources. I would thoroughly recommend this nursery to anyone and am very grateful and feel lucky that my son is in such a lovely fun and supportive environment

The care the staff at the nursery provide for my child is exceptional. They have all been so supportive to my daughter as she has experienced a time of big change in her life, the birth of her new sibling. I feel that all the staff have an excellent knowledge of my child and plan appropriate activities
to further her development. Most importantly, she absolutely loves coming to nursery and looks forward to her nursery days every week.

Our 18-month-old son has been at Blossoms Day Nursery for seven months and it has been a wonderful experience for us all. I was really anxious about sending him to nursery but the staff have been amazing. He absolutely loves going and all the staff. I've always been really impressed by how well the
staff know each of the children, how well thought out everything is (e.g. "high" chairs which are actually little so the babies have their feet on the floor) and that the staff really understand how big of a deal it is to trust others with your baby. I can't imagine sending him anywhere else!

My son currently attends this setting and I couldn't be happier with the care he receives.
Like most, I was incredibly nervous for my child to start nursery when my maternity leave finished but all my fears were quickly quashed when he started Blossoms Day Nursery.
The staff are outstanding. Every
member of management knows him by name, every member of staff in his room (both current and former) have really taken the time to get to know him and we have found both his key workers brilliant.
My son has benefited so much from attending - with weaning, cruising, walking, learning actions to songs and now with his talking too. The setting has great facilities, ample age-appropriate toys and regular one-off activities. They advocate time outside and everything in the room is on the children's level so they have the freedom to choose. The app keeps parents informed on key activities, nappy changes, naps and food intake and staff are always happy to chat about the day too.
We would highly recommend Blossoms.

My daughter attends Blossoms Day Nursery. Since starting, she has come out of her shell and we can see weekly progression from her due to the activities that the practitioners produce. The team are very caring and knowledgeable in what they do. We wouldn't have our daughter in any other nursery.

Excellent care and learning.
Friendly staff.
Feel management could be slightly improved.
Great outdoor space.
Always going outside and good playing.
Food is good, though portion sizes may be slightly small but then there's always opportunity for seconds so that's good.
Great communication with

Such a lovely nursery. My son loves going, he loves the staff and has made good friends with the other children. Staff are very attentive and always have lovely stories to tell at pick-up. The Blossoms Day Nursery app is great as I get updates throughout the day as well as reports, golden moments and
newsletters/updates through it. The children regularly have exciting and new things to do, whether that's someone coming in to do a session with them or new experiences linked to national events, it's great to see so much variety in their day-to-day. As the children progress through, their independence and sense of self is really nurtured with things like lunch monitors and a student council.

Our 10-month-old has been at Blossoms in Hambleton since January 2024. His staff are fantastic and we have not once felt uncomfortable leaving him there. He comes back covered in food with a smile on his face; and 95% of the time we drop him off with no tears (Can't ask for 100%!) Very happy with these
guys and would highly rate them.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.957) out of 10 for Blossoms Day Nursery - The New Mill is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.957 for Blossoms Day Nursery - The New Mill is calculated as follows: ( (494 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 514 Ratings = 4.957
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Blossoms Day Nursery - The New Mill is based on 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 number of registered child places is 12.8, which has been reached with 43 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
