Building Blocks Day Care has looked after both of my children and I am very happy with how they look after and care for my children. The staff take extra care to ensure that all the children are cared for and given a homely experience.

Both my kids have been so happy here; they love the staff, who are absolutely fantastic and have been particularly helpful with settling in, transitioning from nappies and encouraging healthy eating. The structured learning is genuinely engaging, and they've picked up a lot of general life skills too.
There's plenty of outdoor time, which keeps them active and helps to burn off excess energy. On the practical side, the nursery has been flexible, helpful and communicative. Overall, we feel very lucky to have chanced on this place, which continues to exceed our expectations.

The carer to child ratio is great and it's a smaller daycare so our little one gets plenty of personal attention. The age range is good too and while there are separate age groups they do also mix and seem to play well together benefit from it. We've seen great strides in her development since joining
last year and have felt great support from the staff with regular communication and daily updates on activities and nutrition. The staff are wonderful, very friendly and focussed on the children, tirelessly doing new activities such as forest school, and learning about the seasons through tactile games and songs. The outdoor space is large and very well equipped. Overall the staff are very personable and we know our precious little one is getting the care, developmental support, social exposure she needs in a safe secure environment.

The team have never been anything but wonderful! Both of our children have loved going, and they have clearly developed social skills, reading and so much more as a result of the care and attention they receive.

Building Blocks is a real gem - we are so happy we found it. It's a small nursery but that means you get the personal touch that's lacking with some of the big chain nurseries. It has a huge garden which means the kids get loads of time outdoors in all weathers, and the staff plan lots of great creative
and sensory activities as well. All the staff are incredibly kind and friendly. They really do seem to love and care for the children and take a lot of interest in their progress. They are great with the parents, too. Our son is two and has been here for a year and is extremely happy. We will definitely be signing our daughter up when she is ready to go. Thank you Building Blocks!

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.111)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.111) out of 10 for Building Blocks Day Care is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.833 for Building Blocks Day Care is calculated as follows: ( (10 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.833
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.278 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Building Blocks Day Care is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 number of registered child places is 3.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.6 = 0.278
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
