Pear Tree Nursery, West Road is run from a large Victorian house on 1 West Road, Haddington. The building is set over 2 floors and caters for 3 months to school age.

They have a separate ‘coach house’ within the grounds for their younger babies (age 3 months to up to 2 years). They have a large completely enclosed garden and a car park at the front of the nursery for visitors. There is a bus stop directly opposite the nursery. Pear Tree Nursery West Road gives children the chance to learn about the world in a stimulating and fun learning environment.

Staff ensure parents are given up to date information on their child's progress each day.

Highly-skilled and caring staff offer children a variety of adult-led activities as well as the space for young children to enjoy child-initiated play.

We've had nothing but a positive experience at Pear Tree Nursery West Road in the last year, despite Covid-19 and the challenges this has brought. My daughter loves going to nursery and comes home every day full of beans telling us about her day. The staff are amazing and communication is excellent.
We will be sad to leave to start school soon.

We had the most positive experience with Pear Tree Nursery West Road. Although we had a very slow and difficult time to settle in due to the nature of our child, we had a great support through that and now our son loves to go there. From our experience, all staff have been great and always went an extra
step to make sure we are happy with everything. We were able to watch how our son is gaining confidence and learning new skills.

I’m very happy we decided to place my son at Pear Tree Nursery West Road. The staff are amazing, very approachable for parents and they really connect with the kids. It’s a very nurturing and supportive atmosphere. The kids are always involved in lots of fun activities and spend lots of time outside
in the fantastic garden space. There is also plenty of space indoors for the kids to move from room to room and explore the space. I’m also happy with the meals served as they are always fresh and expose the kids to a variety of healthy foods that they enjoy eating.

All the staff are lovely. The outdoor play area is so large and I’m pleasantly surprised with how much outdoor play there is been. They are so good at updating you through the app, especially with not being able to go inside to have a look at the nursery due to Covid-19. I feel like I know what it’s
like inside. The meals look great and there a lot of smiley kids.

Both of my children absolutely love going to Pear Tree Nursery West Road. The staff, despite the difficult working circumstances due to Covid-19 have remained positive, upbeat and professional, allowing the children to feel comfortable and happy throughout the day. The activities are always child led
and I have seen remarkable changes in my youngest child's development in just a matter of months of them attending. The variety of healthy and nutritious lunches and dinners which they provide are fantastic! Overall, a well run establishment and I feel very lucky to have my children placed within this nursery.

My son attends Pear Tree Nursery West Road and he absolutely loves the environment and staff! He has like most not had a great time with lockdown and lost many social skills, he is coming on every single day he attends, he comes home happy and tired, which is amazing for us! There has been many hurdles
but the team have been supportive in resolving any concerns. I am grateful to the staff for their help and support to help my boy come back to us.

The staff are so friendly and welcoming to my children. They really go the extra mile to ensure they have a fun day and my children learn lots. The staff share lots of photos and videos of our children throughout the day which is amazing. The menu always sounds delicious!

Since returning from lockdown the staff have been wonderful with my son who attends Baby Bugs, he was very apprehensive and emotional returning to nursery (very unlike him) and now within three weeks, he runs in to hug whoever greets him at the door. I like that they can go for walks, play outside
and have plenty of free play and I love the little updates on the app about what he’s up to with his new friends.
One of the main reasons for choosing this nursery was that he would be able to spend a lot of time outside.

My child attends one of the 3 Pear Tree nurseries in the area - I had to wait to get him a place after recommendations from a friend.
Since being at Pear Tree, I have watched him develop into a very interactive, chatty, confident and smart little boy a vivid imagination. He very often refers to stories
and activities from nursery to recreate at home and misses all his teachers on days away from nursery.
The staff have been very supportive and professional with regards to handling sensitive situations. I was also fortunate to be put through a paediatric/child first aid course at the nursery - going above and beyond with parents as well as the children in my opinion!
I will miss Pear Tree nursery when it’s time for my little one to go to school but I have recommended to many to follow our Pear Tree journey with their children.

My daughter and I love the Pear Tree Nursery on the West Road, I was apprehensive about moving her to another nursery but all the staff at the Pear Tree made her feel welcome and she soon got used to the routine there. I like that the nursery allows the child to decide which room/area they want to play
in with open space and free flow between rooms, in addition the large garden which my daughter loves. I also like that the children go on walks and trips around Haddington, exploring the outdoors which is important to me. I feel comfortable leaving the staff at the Pear Tree to look after my daughter.

Our child is in the babies room which is a lovely area with lots of different activities for stimulating play and learning. All of the toys are really well thought through and there is something for all.

The baby room is a warm, friendly and inviting place for everyone. Staff are very attentive and informative of each child’s daily routine.

The staff at Pear Tree Nursery have been awesome from the first day through to now and have shown great care and enthusiasm in their service to our little one.
Communication is very good and they make the time to speak to me on both arrival (AM) and pick up time (PM).
My little boy loves coming
and that speaks volumes.

Nursery staff are very approachable and warm, take the time to speak with us and the other parents about our children's days at nursery each pick-up and are always willing to listen and help with any concerns, feedback or questions we have. I'm particularly grateful for the reassurance I get, knowing
on days my son is feeling a little shy, anxious or not quite like himself, that the staff will make extra effort to ensure he feels cared for and secure. This is priceless for a parent. Thank you Pear Tree!

My son joined Pear Tree nursery in April 2019 and he absolutely loves it. He pretends he is shy going in but then never wants to leave when it’s pick up time. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and my son appears to have strong bonds with them, as well as making lots of new friends since joining.
My son has become so much more confident and sociable since joining the nursery and it’s amazing to see. He thoroughly enjoys the sand room, baking cakes and playing outside in the huge garden. He also loves the vast variety of home-cooked food he gets for lunch and dinner. I don’t have any complaints about Pear Tree nursery, I’m so glad my son goes here.

My child has attended Pear Tree since it opened in July and the way it has developed and grown is brilliant to see. They are constantly improving the environment for the children and every time I go to pick up something new has been added. My little one has come on leaps and bounds and I really think
that is to do with the staff and their bonds with the children. They take the kids out every day which I think has really helped my little one's confidence. I know when he moves room he will be given the opportunity to go to the care home and this is invaluable to us as we don't have grandparents here and our older girl has benefited hugely from having this interaction regularly. Thanks for everything you do!

Since my son has started going to Pear Tree Nursery West Road in Haddington, his confidence in himself and his speech has become so much better.
He gets really excited knowing that he is going to Nursery and not many children you can say that about!


The staff in the nursery are all really friendly

and not just my child's room.
Each evening I get a full report of what he has done and how he has been at nursery, this is great as it lets me know how he is doing in nursery.
The nursery is very clean and always kept up to good standards and the nursery is a safe place for any child to play.


I would recommend this nursery and also any other Pear Tree Nursery in Haddington to any of my family or friends.

Heather Reid

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2005

Heather joined Pear Tree Nursery in 2005. Heather has worked in both the 0-2 and 2-3 as the room supervisor until 2011 when she became deputy manager. Heather then stepped into the role of nursery manager in 2012. Heather has her SVQ 3, PDA in childcare and her BA in Childhood Practice and recently completed the Froebel in Childhood Practice course. Heather holds certificates in First Aid and Child Protection Level 2. Heather is also the Child Protection Officer and Health and Safety Officer for the nursery.
