Pear Tree Nursery West Road

My little boy has been at West Road since he was 9 months old and I cant fault them. He absolutely loves going to nursery and I sense that the staff know him well and care about him. The children do a wide range of activities and spend a fair bit of time outside. Communication from the nursery has always been excellent. His allergies / dietary restrictions are also well catered for and never seemed to be a problem, which was a worry for us before he started. I came across some old news about West Road a couple of months ago and clearly a huge amount of work has gone into making improvements.

She has developed so much since starting here and continues to do so!

Really friendly and informative staff. Let us know everything that our daughter has been up to on the day and what new skills she is developing. The nursery has a useful app that keeps us up to date on our daughter's activities and if you agree a selection of daily photos of activities. Would recommend it to anyone living in the East Lothian area.

They feed the children well and as a vegetarian, she has a varied rich diet and tries lots of new things.

The frequency of the updates is excellent and reflects well-thought-out and resourced learning opportunities. The outside space is superb and we really like the fact that all staff across the different rooms interact with all pupils in this environment. I can not speak highly enough of the staff and the effort they put in!

My son has been at Pear Tree West Road since we moved to the area in August 2024. He had previously attended a private nursery in Edinburgh which we were distraught at having to leave, however, Pear Tree is in a different league altogether and has surpassed every expectation we had. The staff are a credit to the nursery, they go above and beyond to create a safe, secure, happy environment in which my little boy thrives. His confidence, learning and social skills have come on leaps and bounds since starting here, he loves arriving in the morning and I know he is truly cared for and nurtured - I couldn't ask for anything more as a parent. They place a huge emphasis on outdoor learning and forest school as well as visits to the community including inter-generational visits to care homes. The experiences he has are undoubtedly having a huge positive impact on his early childhood and learning and I can't speak more highly of them.

Our son attends this nursery two days per week and he absolutely loves it. He has great relationships with the staff in his room and often chats about them when he is at home with us, telling us about games they've played or activities they've been doing. The staff are really attentive to his needs and make lots of tailored activities to aid his development, including helping him learn to spell his name and to take turns with his friends. Our son also loves the meals and snacks at nursery. Fresh fruit is available every day, along with a wide variety of meals which allow him to sample lots of different foods. We've been so happy with the care our son receives at this nursery.

My granddaughter has thrived at nursery. She has a great range of varied activities to take part in each day which help all areas of her development. She is always eager to go in knowing that she'll have things do that match her interests and abilities. Staff are great at providing varied opportunities both indoors and outside. She especially loves being in the garden, climbing and out on walks to the woods.

My daughter has been attending this nursery for 3 years now and I can't speak highly enough of the team at Pear Tree Nursery West Road. It has been such a caring a nurturing environment for our family. Our daughter skips in and out every time and is full of fun stories about the great experiences and learning moments. My biggest positive is the staff - they take the time to get to know the children as little individuals and I see so much care in how they approach each day, through all stages/rooms of the nursery.

My daughter started at Pear Tree Nursery West Road in November, I had all the fears of a new mum sending her daughter to daycare but the staff couldn't have been any better. The management is always happy to answer any question no matter how silly. When my daughter started in the bear's room the staff went above and beyond to make her settle in. She now giggles at the door in the morning when I ring the buzzer and always has the biggest smile when she meets the team. We get regular updates on what she has been up to and photos of her day. They always come up with such fun and engaging activities. So happy to have my daughter here. Thank you.

The staff are excellent. Always happy and welcoming with an air of calm. They are continually thinking of new ideas and really structure things around key learning topics. My daughter loves it and is happy and content.

Our child has been attending Pear Tree for nearly two years and gets so much out of it. She loves all the outdoor time and the variety of activities on offer. She has great relationships with other children and with the staff. The staff are very caring and go over and above to make sure the children not only have their needs met but have opportunities to grow and develop according to their interests.

The nursery staff create lots of opportunities for development and choice.

The staff are friendly and very helpful. Regular updates through the app help ease the transition to nursery life from the start. My kid loves the outings to the park and forest. A safe and warm environment.

My child started when he was a baby and has progressed into the group above. Care from staff in both groups has been over and beyond and they meet by child's needs beautifully. He isn't two yet and can read and count amongst being active and very chatty. I could not rate the staff and their work here more.

I can confidently say that the nursery environment is one of a 'family' feeling. Our son has formed strong bonds with his key workers/carers and very much enjoys his days at the nursery. The staff are very communicative and each day we receive a summary along with pictures of the children during their activities which is great to see.

My child has been going to Pear Tree Nursery West Road for well over a year now. It has always been a delight. The staff are friendly and accommodating. My child is excited to see them and they show the same level of enthusiasm in getting to see them. They always seem to have lots of fun and the staff keeps me very well informed on what is happening in their day-to-day via the app as well as answering any questions I may have.

Such a good nursery, lovely staff who really care about the children and great management too. The children do a range of activities and spend as much time as possible outside, in the garden or forest school. Would highly recommend it.

My toddler recently started at West Road Pear Tree Nursery. The settling-in period was really positive and also their daily communication about the daily activities is brilliant. Very informative. I really appreciated as a parent the individual communication about how my child had settled at the beginning. All the staff are caring and nurturing in their approach and always approachable. The activities in the room are always new and innovative. My child always looks engaged and happy. He is also enjoying the varied food menu provided. Overall I am very happy and would highly recommend West Road.

Always find everyone very helpful and my grandson loves his time there and often does not want to leave when it is time to go home. Would certainly recommend this nursery to anyone looking for childcare for their little one.
