Staff at the YMCA North Tyneside Nursery have given exceptional care to our granddaughter for the last three years. They have nurtured her from baby to toddler to pre-school and prepared her so well for her transition to school. Nursery has given her the opportunity to learn many skills, both social
and educational, through extensive guided activities and play, all of which have been very carefully and conscientiously managed and supervised by the team of caring staff. We are struck by how well each member of the team knows exactly what the children have eaten each day, what activities they've taken part in and how they have behaved towards each other. They take time to pass this information to every parent/guardian who collects their child. As grandparents, we are extremely impressed by the very high standards of care we have observed, and we have been delighted by how much our granddaughter has loved her time at the nursery. My daughter attended YMCA nursery from sep24-july25 and I couldn't thank all the staff enough for welcoming my daughter and treating her so well, they helped her with her confidence throughout her nursery journey and taught her so much. She spent most of her journey in the toddler room and moving into
pre school once she turned 3 for the last few month and although she struggled a little with the change of rooms and found it abit crowded the staff really made an effort to make her feel seen and heard with all her emotions and struggles. She really did learn a lot and made many friends and really liked all the staff and most importantly her happiness spoke volumes to me so thank you and I couldn't recommend this nursery enough

The YMCA go that extra mile to make their nursery a warm, engaging, playful and educational setting for young children. My son attended for 1.5 years before school and he had a happy and playful time. Which is what we wanted. The staff are friendly and attentive.

My daughter has gone to this nursery for 4 years amd 5 months and excelled in every aspect she should due to the attention and attitude from all the amazing staff at the YMCA
It's sad to leave the nursery but on to big girl school now

My little girl has had a wonderful time at this nursery and the staff have been amazing with her. They've set her up brilliantly for school nursery and it's been lovely to watch her confidence grow overtime. She was very shy and struggled with handover when she started attending the YMCA 20 months ago
but now she runs in and sometimes forgets to even say goodbye. This is down to how patient and kind staff were with her enabling her to feel comfortable and safe.
It'll be sad to move on at the end of August but we are very grateful for the all of the staff and the effort they put in to make the children so happy whilst there. We'd highly recommend the YMCA day nursery to other parents.

My little boy has been attending YMCA since he was 9 months old and started in the baby room, he is now 2.5 years old and in the toddler room. The girls in the toddler room are brilliant, there will never be enough words to say how grateful I am to them all for the love and care they show my little
boy. His key worker is just amazing, she is so supportive with everything, my little boy needs a little extra support on doing day to day activities and the key worker is always there to support my child every step of the way, I honestly don't know what myself or my child would do without the key worker.
I'm so thankful to all of the staff at YMCA for the support given, and the management team for being so flexible, understanding and supportive with changes needed to suit my little boys needs! They always go above and beyond to ensure my son is happy!

The YMCA Nursery is absolutely incredible. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. My eldest child went to a different nursery and I can't believe the difference with the YMCA. My baby always comes out happy, warm, and full of energy. The staff are so loving and her recent report showed how
well her key worker knows her. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough; they've made my transition back to work so much easier!

Our daughter has gone to nursery for more than 12 months now and she really loves it there. It was by chance from another parent recommendation that I ended up going to visit the nursery. Above any other factors it was the staff that I warmed to the most and watching them caring for the children. I
know that they really care and look after the children, as well as teaching them lots but all in a fun way. I recommend it to anyone else looking to put their child into a warm, friendly and child-centred environment.

My daughter has been at this nursery from baby room through to preschool, we chose to put her in this nursery after a very positive experience with my son going here before her. The staff are amazing. How much my daughter loves them and looks forward to going in is a testament to that. She has learned
so much from being in this environment. It's great how they're encouraged to get messy, experience new things, and have loads of fun while doing it. I love how preschool really encourages independence. I feel like the YMCA nursery is such an amazing stepping stone for kids before going to school.

My son has been there since October and he absolutely loves it. He loves all the staff in the baby room.
They've made him feel at home so much that he is excited to head into nursery.
I love the updates I get everyday about what he's done and what he's eaten, and I love seeing the photos on the

My little boy started at 10 months old and is currently in the baby room. The YMCA nursery staff are amazing and my little boy loves going in every day which has been such a relief for us. They are really hands-on and attentive and take the time to ensure they are being stimulated and comforted when
needed. I also really appreciated the fact that they did a decent settling-in period that made the transition a lot more seamless for us as a family. After speaking to friends who have children in other nurseries, I've realised this is quite rare.
My only negative would be the food, I think the food could be improved to make it more healthy and less focused on sweet treats every meal and to have a menu provided so we know what he is eating in advance. Our son has a milk allergy and the food element has been quite stressful. The staff do listen though and have been helpful in navigating this.

My son enjoys the YMCA Day Nursery. He loves his lunch and usually has double portions! The staff team are friendly and welcoming in the morning and gives good updates at the end of the day. There are regular stay-and-play sessions which make us feel part of the nursery family.

My son has been attending YMCA Day Nursery since he was 9 months old. The care given to my child has been exceptional. The consistent staff teams is great and his key worker is always on hand should we need to know anything. The support given to us as a family has been superb and I am extremely grateful
to them for this. I feel his needs are listened to and they will cater to his needs. The settling-in periods are brilliant and we are kept informed of when these are. I really can't praise the staff enough and it a pleasure to know my child is safe and happy.

Both of my children attend YMCA nursery. And I can honestly say they are thriving in all areas due to the help, love and care they receive on a daily basis. The management are so helpful and welcoming if I ever have a problem I feel comfortable enough to speak to them. And the girls all of them are
absolutely amazing, they aren't just a nursery they are family! Me and my two little ones love them all so much I'm so sad my son will be going to big school come September as I know he will miss them. If only they were a school as I can see how comfortable and confident he is around them all. Both of my children are being assessed for multiple unique disabilities and they've honestly not only helped my children to feel welcomed and accepted but they have been such a great help to me also. Not only do the kids get support but us as the parents do also and I'm forever thankful for that. Couldn't have picked a better nursery.

Having become a connected carer unexpectedly in March of 2023 to a 2.3month old little boy my world became very different. Knowing that I would need a stable start for him we called into YMCA day nursery, he has settled in lovely, loves the outdoor space and knows all about his feelings which is important
for him and I. His key worker and the girls keep me informed of his days and routine. Which is always nice. He comes out with a huge smile on his face, lovely to see. We have enjoyed the summer and winter fates lovely to see his little friends outside of school. He will stay settled there till his transition into school.

My son has been attending this nursery for four years now and is transitioning over to reception in September, I wish he could stay we love it that much. The care of YMCA Day Nursery is exceptional, we have updates via emails for everything we need to know, there’s a vast amount of activities for the
children to dive into, as well as a lovely private garden, upon visiting it is always extremely clean. The food menu is incredible too! All staff are friendly and welcoming. We truly love this nursery.

I’m so happy I found this nursery for my son. He started when he was eighteen months and was really clingy and quite unsettled. The team have been lovely, calm and patient with him, reassuring him that he is safe and happy. Slowly, he’s started to enjoy his days at nursery much more.
The values of
the YMCA shine through the nursery. The staff seem happy and genuinely care for the children. Parents chat at the gate at pick up time and the kids come out smiling. Thank you YMCA!

My name is Ian and I am the Manager at YMCA Day Nursery. I have a passion for working with young children, providing a positive environment and helping them as individuals to develop. I have been fortunate enough through my experiences to work with children in some of the poorest parts of the world which has inspired me to ensure children have the best start in life. I have been involved with YMCA movement for many years and believe the YMCA approach to inspiring children and young people can make a difference to society. I like that YMCA North Tyneside works with some of the youngest and oldest members of our community. In my spare time, I love spending time with my wife and two children.
