Woven into the fabric of the school, the multi-award-winning Nursery is a truly special place, made up of three classes – the Bees (age 2), Caterpillars (ages 2-3) and Butterflies (pre-school). Cumnor is the only independent school in Sussex that can offer flexible childcare from 7am to 7pm, 50 weeks of the year, for children aged 2-4. The setting also offers both term-time only and full-time places and up to 30 hours of early years funding.

The environment is second to none. The purpose-built Nursery has direct access to dedicated outdoor space and the wider school grounds beyond, with sweeping views across the South Downs. Flooded with natural light, the Nursery provides a truly wonderful, bespoke space for exploration, creation and discovery through play, without limits.

The staff are highly trained, passionate and experienced, committed to providing the highest standards of care and education in a welcoming, homely atmosphere. They understand and celebrate the unique qualities in every child and go above and beyond to ensure Nursery is an enjoyable and positive experience for all of them.

  • Daily rates cover all charges such as meals and snacks, play equipment, stationery, nappies, wipes, sun cream and personal accident insurance. They also cover any specialist lessons such as Swimming, Dance & Movement, Sport, Music, Drama and Woodpeckers (our forest school). A minimum of two booked sessions is required per week.

My son currently attends Cumnor Nursery and my daughter did before him. It is a happy nurturing environment where the staff are caring, imaginative and so much fun. My son is delighted to get there every morning. I feel he has had the best start to his learning journey and takes great pleasure in hearing
about all of the wonderful things he and his friends have done.
Put quite simply, it is the most fun place to be a child.

Cumnor Nursey is simply amazing. From the minute we set foot in the building, we knew it was going to be the right place for our daughter. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, and the care and attention they give the children are outstanding. The facilities available are second to none, and the
rooms always look and feel very clean, bright and appealing to all. We are grateful to everyone at the nursery for their attentiveness and professionalism and have no doubt how happy our daughter is there. We would wholeheartedly recommend Cumnor to anyone and will be very sad when the time comes for "big school"!

Just wonderful - the energy and expertise of the teachers is second to none. The variety of lessons and activities is incredible. The most wonderful, nurturing, happy place for any child to start their education. The facilities are amazing. It's faultless!

Cumnor nursery is such a special place! All three of my children have loved their time there, making friends and being so brilliantly taught and cared for by the wonderful staff. The opportunities they have with music, dancing, woodland walks, swimming and sports are all fantastic. What lucky children!

Another great year at Cumnor Nursery for our son; we couldn't be happier with him being there and can't wait to send our next child too. Our son recently joined Cumnor Nursery in January. We wish we had found it earlier!
We have been absolutely bowled over by how fantastic the nursery is. The staff are wonderful, they are genuinely attentive, proactive, inspiring, kind and helpful. So in spite of our son only been there a couple of
months, they seem to know him so well. In addition to this, we have been particularly impressed with the quality of the facilities, the diversity of the activities and the attention to detail. I leave my child of a morning happy in the knowledge that she is having a very happy, educational and secure preschool experience. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and obviously liked so much that they are talked about at home. The manager is incredibly experienced and can manage some of my daughter's
behaviours which at times can only be described as challenging. The range of activities offered at such a young age is fantastic and I get reports of dancing lessons, swimming, art, music and sometimes baking. She gets lots of outdoor fun and is always happy to go. I have no reservations about recommending this nursery to anyone.

I would highly recommend Cumnor Nursery, my daughter loves her time there. They have such fun-packed, varied days full of activities that focus on practical learning as well as lots of creative and imaginative play. The staff are all so friendly, you get regular and detailed feedback each day as well
as comments on your child(ren) specifically and the indoor facilities and outdoor space that they have access to are fantastic.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Cumnor Nursery.
I am so pleased with the care and education that my daughter is receiving.
Particularly at the moment with everything closed, it is fabulous that the children are having such a whale of a time at nursery. The role play that they use as a base for learning
is fabulous and gives such opportunity for development as well as really capturing my daughter's imagination. Having the school facilities means that the current restrictions outside of nursery are much less of an issue.
The staff are hugely experienced and so kind and caring with the children and so helpful with advice if required.
I also feel that the school/nursery are good at taking feedback on board - they certainly aren't resting on their laurels.

We are so pleased with how our 2-year-old son has developed socially and in confidence since starting at Cumnor Nursery in September 2020. My wife and I had concerns about his lack of social interaction following the 2020 lockdowns but the team have been so good with him. The daily updates on the Tapestry
portal show just how happy he has been and is really helpful for us as parents to see what he has been doing during the day and discuss it with him when he comes home. The nursery team are faultless and the new extension to the nursery building looks fabulous.

My son attends Cumnor Nursery 5 days a week and enjoys it so much that he can't wait to get there in the mornings. The staff have created such a caring, safe and encouraging environment for the children. The days are varied and include a wide range of activities such as music, PE, swimming, dance, forest
school and cooking. The resources inside the nursery are first-class and support play and learning. My son has developed a lovely bond with both the staff and the children who attend. The setting is clean, light and airy and there is so much outside space for exploring. Can't recommend enough!

Cumnor Nursery can only be described as excellent.
The care and attention my son has received since starting there has been brilliant. They offer lovely home made hot meals, great facilities (including swimming, dance, specialist music time, along with many others) and a great place to enrich developing

I work full time so my child is at nursery from 8 - 6, 5 days a week. I have watched my child flourish and grow is such an amazing setting, which is down the the amazing group of staff running it. My child’s week is filled with dance, music, swimming, forest school, cooking, PE, crafts, as well as
getting school ready with numbers and letters. I am always kept up to date with what has happened through the day in a detailed diary and photos which is so valuable as I am able to see how she is progressing. I have had a child at another good nursery but when comparing it to Cumnor Nursery it does not come close on any level. I have a little girl that jumps out of bed in the morning excited and full of enthusiasm about going to nursery! Thank you!

My son adores his time at this nursery. Staff are very friendly and experienced. The setting is ideal with lots of access to a range of outdoor activities as well as an up to date and stimulating stand-alone nursery building.
