This nursery in Whitchurch opened on 19th June 2017 and is part of the Mama Bear’s Day Nursery family.

From September, the setting will be transitioning to a dedicated baby unit for children aged 0–3 years, offering a specialist environment tailored to the needs of the youngest children. The nursery has been thoughtfully adapted to create a calm, nurturing and home-from-home space, with excellent resources designed to support early development, wellbeing and secure attachments.

The outdoor space is a spacious, landscaped garden with free-flow access, allowing babies and toddlers to explore safely and confidently.

Conveniently located just off Bristol Road and directly opposite Whitchurch Primary School, the nursery remains easily accessible for families.

The setting is proud of the experienced childcare practitioners who carefully plan activities to support each child’s individual development and progression. With a strong focus on care, learning and emotional wellbeing, they provide a warm and supportive environment where children can thrive from the very start of their early years journey.

The staff at mama bears whichurch were so kind and understanding. My granddaughter loved them. They really helped with my granddaughters development and she learned so much there. We're all very sad that she had to go to preschool after Easter. We will all miss them terribly.

We've had such a lovely experience with this nursery. From the very beginning the staff made our daughter feel so welcome, safe, and cared for.
The team are incredibly kind, patient, and attentive, and it's clear how much they genuinely care about the children. In the short time she was there, we saw
her grow in confidence, enjoy new activities, and start forming little friendships.

My little girl started at Mama bears in September. The staff are lovely and always greet us with a warm welcome.
The app is wonderful, I love getting updates about my little girl during her sessions.
I'm very grateful for all the hard work and fun activities the team provided.

Emma, in particular, has been wonderful with my son. She is always full of energy, warm, and welcoming. It is very clear from the way she interacts with the children that she genuinely loves her job and cares deeply about
them. Seeing her work so passionately is a real joy as a parent.

My daughter has been attending the nursery for a year now, to begin with she was shy and reserved. She is now very confident and has truly come out of her shell.


She has a strong bond with her key person who she loves going to see each day. She even talks about her at home and to family members.


They have put on lovely stay and plays this past year including a winter/Christmas stay and play with lots of activities and just this last week had a Mother's Day tea.


She has got on so well I would recommend this nursery with not a bad word to say.

My son has been attending Mama Bears since Sept 2024. I was sooo nervous at first to put him anywhere as he was at a childminders previously and just wouldn't settle. Within his first couple of weeks at Mama Bears he settled and I could notice a difference in him, he was so happy there and he still
loves it.


My son has recently had an operation to improve his hearing and the nursery have fully supported this and have helped him come out of his shell and explore more, whilst making extra efforts to support his weaknesses.


Every staff member has been amazing with Brody and I cannot thank them enough. I have and will continue to praise this nursery to everyone because it really is a fab place to send your child :)

My son has attended the setting for nearly 2 years and has numerous additional needs which was identified very early on in him attending the setting. The staff on a personal level are kind and supportive of the children. On a professional level, lack understanding and experience. Staffing and hours
are inconsistent, meaning that they regularly cannot fulfil the hours my son is signed up for. My son has been thoroughly let down in terms of his Senco support - the excuses given are always lack of staff, training and staff sickness. I would never recommend this setting to anyone but especially if you think your child has any kind of additional need.

Our son started at Mama Bear's when he turned two and he has had two months now at the nursery. He was warmly welcomed there and settled in fast and well. Within the first couple of weeks he seemed to be at ease when we dropped him off and has since then been in no rush to leave when we pick him up
at the end of the day! The nursery manager, his key person, and other staff have all helped make his adjustment very smooth and they have kept us updated on how our son is getting on. We would be very happy to recommend this nursery and we very much appreciate how well they have looked after our boy so far.

Thank you dearly to all the staff at Mama Bears Whitchurch for providing such a loving, secure and stimulating place for the children. My boy has made lovely relationships with the other children and carers alike and he always seems happy and engaged when I pick him up. Of the other nurseries he's previously
attended, this settling seems by far the best managed and organised, with interesting, new activities set out every day in advance. Thank you sincerely for taking such excellent care!

Our son really enjoys going to Mama Bear's Day Nursery and Pre-School (Whitchurch) and the staff have been wonderful. My only regret, after years of childcare struggles, is that we haven't decided on this nursery earlier as it is a pure joy to see our son thrive that much under the wide range of learning
and social activities arranged by the staff and the management of the nursery.
He is always happy to go in when we drop him off in the morning and finds a lot of new friends there. Sometimes he doesn't even want to go back home with us! The manager is lovely, very organised and always helpful. We get regular newsletters and updates keeping us up to date on things going on at the nursery.
We recommended this nursery to our friends as we were so impressed. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for fabulous childcare.

We are really happy with how our child has settled at Mama Bears. After a year of upset with another childcare setting, he’s fitted in instantly. I love how all the team members didn’t hesitate to give our child a hug the minute he showed upset at drop off initially.
He is always happy to come to nursery
and comes home with lots of exciting stories to tell about his day.
We are looking forward to continuing to see him thrive at Mama Bears.

I cannot say enough good things about this nursery. My little one loves going in everyday which definitely makes mornings a lot easier. I'm always so impressed by the range of activities set out in the mornings - I'm often tempted to stay myself! I had concerns about his speech before attending Mama
Bears but this has vastly improved and I've noticed a big difference in his confidence as a whole. Ultimately, all credit should go to the staff, the team are caring and fun and evidently has lovely close bonds with the children.

Amazing nursery in general, and after coming back from the Xmas break, the staff helped my child feel at ease, with lots of fun activities, stories and learning. Lovely staff, they go above and beyond, all in a happy, clean environment. Would recommend it over and over again.

My daughter started at Mama Bears in October 2023. I have nothing but amazing things to say about the team there. She was made to feel so welcome and absolutely loves going on her days. She had been out of a nursery setting for over a year so was understandably feeling apprehensive about starting. But
seeing her so excited to go from the start has made it such an easy transition. All of the nursery staff and managers are amazing.

The best decision ever made.
There are no words to describe what a wonderful school it is. The staff are wonderful, attentive, concerned and passionate about what they do. My son loves all the staff members and is always happy to return to school. I couldn't ask for a better school than this. I recommend
this school to any parent. Thank you to all of you for the affection and love you give to all of us and for leaving us parents with a lighter heart when we leave our son with you. Because we know that he is well-delivered.

Lovely preschool. My son came from a childminders, and within a few weeks, I could see such a change in him. He’s now very outgoing and has come out of his shell. He loves going every day to see all of the children and staff.
