We couldn't be happier with the care our son receives at this nursery. The team went above and beyond to help settle him into the baby room, making what could have been a difficult transition feel smooth and reassuring for both him and us as parents.
Each day is filled with a great range of activities,
from sensory and creative play to outdoor time, all thoughtfully planned to support his development while making sure he has fun.
The food is fantastic, with a wide variety of healthy, balanced meals and snacks, which gives us real peace of mind.
Most importantly, the staff are absolutely lovely - warm, caring, and genuinely invested in the children. We feel completely confident leaving our son in their care and would highly recommend this nursery.

We couldn't be happier with the care our son Jax has received at Old School House Nursery. He's been there for over 12 months now and has absolutely thrived. The staff are incredibly friendly, caring, and supportive, and it's clear they genuinely take the time to understand and nurture each child. Jax
has grown so much in confidence and happiness since attending, and knowing he's in such a safe, positive environment makes sending him each day so easy and completely stress-free. We're so grateful to the whole team and would highly recommend Old School House Nursery to any parent.

My son has been attending the old schoolhouse nursery, Middleton since he was one year old and is now in their pre-school class. I've been so pleased with his progression throughout his time there. The staff clearly know how to nurture each child's potential and I can see the lovely relationships he's
developed with the staff, a few of whom have been there since his time in the baby room.
He enjoys going to nursery and comes home telling me everything he has learnt that day. The outdoor space is perfect for little ones that thrive being outside and the indoor spaces are all beautifully nurturing and engaging rooms.
I'd recommend the old school house for anyone considering this nursery for their baby and beyond.

Both my children attend the old school house Middleton. The staff is what makes a nursery, both my babies are looked after, taken care of with pure love from nursery staff who want to go over and beyond. Both my babies started in Rohins and Amy has always made it so easy for us. She's looked after both
babies like they are her own and it genuinely does give me the peace of mind to know my kids are in the right nursery. All the staff are amazing they will always go over and beyond. Keep doing a great job all.

The old school house Middleton is a fabulous setting for my child. He's been there a couple of years and I can only sing praises for all of the staff I've encountered, from management to childcare staff.
My child loves the setting of the old school house, their huge range of activities even for the
days that they attend, from the baby room right up to preschool.
I will be really sad to say goodbye to the nursery when the time comes, but it's given them the start to school life I could only ever dream of. We're very grateful to you all.

We love the old school house nursery, my daughter loves to go in and the staff there are amazing. We get updates through out the dat and progress reports with how she is doing. They have wholesome activities and loads of messy play. They do some really lovely things like breakfast for parents and most
recently a care package for parents mental health day.

My daughter has been attending The Old School House Nursery, Middleton since the start of 2023, and over the past three years we've had the most comforting experience knowing our little girl is safe, nurtured, learning, and truly cared for.
Now that she's in their preschool, she's thriving even more.
The forest school and outdoor facilities have been amazing for her confidence, development, and love of learning
We honestly couldn't recommend them enough

Our little boy Riley went to The old school house day nursery from age 1 to 3 and we couldn't have asked for a better place for him. The Robins Room where he first started was amazing. The staff were so kind and caring and we'll always be especially grateful to Amy, Riley's key worker, who made such
a difference in helping him settle and feel happy. He loved the activities and we saw him grow in confidence so quickly. The other rooms he moved on to were also brilliant, each giving him new experiences - a special mention to Jo in Squirrels who was fantastic with him. I know the nursery recently received a lower Ofsted rating, but from our experience this doesn't reflect the care and dedication shown. For us, the nursery has always been incredible and we'll always be so so grateful for the wonderful start it has given Riley

My eldest daughter graduated from the old school house last year and my youngest has been there for nearly 1 year now.
I believe they gave my daughter the best start to school and she came out smiling everyday with such a lovely bond with all staff.
My youngest is waving as soon as we pull up outside
and goes in so happy and eager to see all her friends.
I feel they know my children well, always communicating if they are not them selves and making me aware of all aspects of their journey. Wether that be accessing help for her additional needs or updating us on her daily routine.
Their meals are nutritious and their extra activities are amazing, providing educational aspect but most importantly fun.
Overall I couldn't be happier with the nursery experience they provide for my children and always recommend them to family and friends.

We've had such a positive experience here with our baby (under 1). The team in Little Robins is absolutely fantastic. Their diverse personalities and natural strengths create a rich, balanced environment where babies benefit from a wide range of social interactions. For example, some bring a calm, steady
presence while others bring warmth and cheerful energy. Together, they foster a space that feels both nurturing and secure.
In just four weeks, our baby has gone from crawling to confidently standing. A huge milestone we credit to the team's focus on physical development.
We're aware the nursery recently received a lower rating, but from our experience, the care has been consistent, professional, and full of heart. The staff take their roles seriously and clearly understand the impact they have on each child's development. Every family's journey is different, but for us, this has been a safe, supportive setting where our baby is happy and thriving!

A lovely nursery where the staff always go the extra mile. My little girl has been there since just before she turned 1 and has progressed through 3 of the different rooms so far; each room is beautiful with so many different activities, she learns so much and enjoys every day she is there!
It is
great getting such regular updates from the staff which is really reassuring and the nursery offers so much!

Our child has absolutely loved this nursery from the day he started. He is always happy and smiley to be there which has made us feel at ease. It's evident the nursery staff genuinely care about all of the children, and treat them like their own. The staff keep us updated throughout the day with pictures
of our child playing or what he's been up to during his day. The garden outdoors is also a great space for the children to play. Our child has developed so much during the time he has been there, in terms of his motor skills and speech. The nursery management are really friendly and approachable, whenever we've had any questions or queries, they've been happy to answer them and deal with everything efficiently. I have so much trust and confidence in the staff and their care, I would highly recommend this nursery to anybody.

We have been with OSH Middleton now just coming up to 4 years with our 3 children (with still minimum 3 years to go.)
OSH is a lovely nursery, all staff around the nursery including another member of staff are so kind and welcoming to the children and teach/guide each to their own demands.
My middle
child has asthma at the time of flare ups the nursery were and are amazing throughout the whole process. Communication and making a plan together. This has also started with my youngest which again the staff have been amazing especially when she's so little (baby room).
A lady in baby room has been one of the heart and souls of this nursery, she really has been a blessing with both my littles starting with her she's been there key worker and full communication throughtout.
From having an older child now in school, I think he had a shock when he went as he didn't really have that much knowledge of phonics (neither did we) I'd possibly say a little more brought into preschool to help them.
Thank you

Amazing nursery, all the staff have the children's best interest at the front of everything they do. The rooms, outside space, equipment and resources are to a really high standard. My child was always happy going in, excited to see her friends and 'teachers' (all the nursery staff). They have so much
fun, learning through play and the extra curriculars they offer aswell are such good opportunities for the children. The meals offered are great and theres such a variety of foods that broadened her food horizons! They're so supportive during room transitions, challenging times such as potty training and always keeping us updated on everything. I'm so happy with the bonds the staff make with the children, looking after them like their own and I know she's safe, looked after and happy whilst we're at work.

My son started at The Old School House Middleton in January and has progressed extremely well in all areas, including his speech, learning, and social development.

The staff are always welcoming and you can see how compassionate and attentive they are towards not only the children, but parents too,

especially during the settling in period.

We are continuously kept up to date via the app with day-to-day information and love to see what he has been up to from the posts and supporting photos that the staff take the time to write. You can see the children are encouraged to be curious, independent, and confident learners, and we can see this reflected in our home environment.

I would highly recommend and will be sending my other children to the nursery once they are older!

I could not recommend The Old School House at Middleton enough. My daughter absolutely loves it there, and has developed so well. The team could not have done more to get her settled and adapted into nursery life at the outset, and provided such amazing care to help her transition. They have also done
this as she's moved up age groups too. Their days are filled with a rich range of activities, with lots of outdoor time especially in the warmer months. They also include a good range of extra curricular activities and the daily menu is always nutritious and well balanced. We've been really impressed with the running of the nursery, organisation and management and feel really well informed. I am so glad that we chose this nursery and very highly recommend.

My son started at Middleton in May in the Robins room. I was really nervous and anxious about leaving him due to another nursery not providing the right care for him but the settling-in sessions really helped. I was sent lots of photos of his settle sessions and I still am sent photos of him now during
the day. The staff know my little boy inside out and knows when he isn't himself etc, it feels like an addition to our family. I am kept up to date on his progress and have 1 observation a week (he attends 2 full days). The app is always kept up to date so I know how he's eaten and slept that day. Whenever I drop my son off the staff are always smiley and friendly which he responds to with big smiles. It really helps that transition more for me being an anxious parent. I just want my little boy happy and I know he really is at this nursery!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.788) out of 10 for The Old School House Day Nursery Middleton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.975 for The Old School House Day Nursery Middleton is calculated as follows: ( (234 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.975
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.813 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old School House Day Nursery Middleton is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 123 number of registered child places is 24.6. 20 Positive Reviews ÷ 24.6 = 0.813
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My career began as a nursery apprentice in 2014, and my passion for childcare has continued. I have a wealth of experience and find the job very rewarding. I completed a team leading qualification, which has supported me in my role as part of the management team here since 2023. I also have two lovely children of my own!

My favourite part of the role is building relationships with the children and their families. It’s a wonderful feeling to know the children feel safe and loved in our care.
