Mead Open Farm Day Nursery and Pre-school is part of the Farm Day Nurseries group and sits within a farm environment. It has two self-contained, nursery and pre-school buildings, a fantastic garden and the opportunity for children to visit the farm and play attractions daily.

It has modern facilities in a rural setting and provides nurturing care for children and babies from the age of six weeks to five years, with funded pre-school places available. The nursery ensures that the children have a well-balanced diet, and can cater for any special dietary requirements that may be needed.

Our daughter absolutely loves going to nursery (pre-school). She says every morning that she is excited when we are queueing up, and she sees her friends waiting in the line. She always tells me about her day when I pick her up, and she has a lot to say each time, so I know she has had an amazing day.

We have 2 children currently attending the nursery, and they both started when they were respectively 10 months old. Our eldest has now been attending for over 3 years and very much enjoys his time at the nursery. We have seen him grow into a thoughtful, caring and sensitive child, and this has been
nurtured by the wonderful staff at the setting. Due to start school in September next year, we feel that the activities and educational content of his day are making him ready for this next stage. Our youngest has been attending now for 4 months, and the nursery has been supporting us with his development. They regularly ask what areas of learning and development we would like them to focus on with both children. Weather permitting (!) there are the well developed and beautiful gardens for the children to enjoy as well as the daily visits to the on-site farm. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their caring nature with our children.

My son started nursery at Mead Open Farm Day Nursery in September. This was our first experience of leaving our son with anyone other than family since he was born in February 2019. With everything going on, it made it even harder to leave him. The staff made us feel reassured and welcome and our son
warmed to them all instantly. Although due to covid, we haven’t been inside the nursery, we have been told all about what he gets up to, the layout of the rooms, what he enjoys playing with etc and it makes us feel part of it. The staff remembered and recognised us from our very first meeting, again making us feel comfortable and at ease. It’s a very personalised touch and we know how much our son loves it. We have seen our son blossom and grow in the 2 months he’s been at nursery. His confidence has grown so much and his learning is coming on so quickly. We cannot thank everyone enough for the experiences and opportunities he’s getting to enjoy every day that he’s there.

Mead Open Farm Day Nursery is fantastic, the staff are lovely and really get to know your child. My daughter has been at the nursery for just over a year and I have nothing but praise for the staff. She enjoys every minute and gets to do so much every day, including wonderful trips to the farm! The
nursery has been extremely flexible throughout the Covid pandemic and we are extremely grateful for everything they have done to ensure our daughter is safe and well cared for. The administration side of things is also so efficient!

Amazing staff and facilities! My child only had her settle in sessions before lockdown but once they were allowed back the staff went above and beyond to make sure my little one settled in quickly and enjoy her time there. Each day she attends she is so excited to be going and loves going to the farm
with her friends.
Since attending I have noticed that her development is progressing in leaps and bounds and I couldn't be happier.

I have 2 children at Mead Open Farm Day Nursery and they both love it. The oldest is in the toddler room and comes home telling me about all the fun he's had. The development I've witnessed in both of them since they joined the nursery is fantastic. I love the fact they get to explore the farm, I feel
it helps give the variety in their day. My youngest really struggled to settle and the staff went above and beyond to encourage her. I can't thank them enough as she now loves it, and is learning it's ok to be independent of me. I highly recommend this nursery.

The staff are friendly and listen to your child's individual needs. They are approachable and are a second family to my daughter.

Since our daughter has been at Mead Open Farm she has developed so much. She loves being outside and this nursery provides so much outdoor play. I am extremely impressed with all the staff who look after my daughter. She seems to have strong connections with multiple members and staff are extremely
welcoming when I drop her off in the morning. I love how informed we are as parents as to what our daughter has been doing at nursery.

All team members, without exception, are friendly, welcoming, kind and understanding. My son absolutely loves his time at nursery, literally running into the room each morning. There are such a great range of different activities - indoors and especially outdoor with access to the farm and their programme
of events. The most important thing though is the genuine care shown by the team - they are brilliant.

Staff are polite and attentive, always interested in our lives. Happy to spend time getting to know you. Key workers understand my children and their needs! Work well to encourage my child to eat a variety of food groups. They have a wide range of activities and always something different to enjoy.

Our son has gained so much since joining Mead. His confidence has grown and he enjoys his time there. He gets to spend quality time outside, whether it be visiting the farm facilities or the free flow outside space. The carers are brilliant and attentive and take great care with him. They hold summer

A fantastic caring nursery with lots of fun and stimulating interactive activities for the children to take part in. The farm adds an individual touch which cannot be found anywhere else in the local area. The children are happy, safe and cared for and I would definitely recommend it to other parents.

Hi, I’m Vikki Bosworthick-Bass, Nursery Manager here at Mead Open Farm Day Nursery & Pre-School! With daily visits to the farmyard, children LOVE meeting the goats, counting the piglets and bottle feeding the lambs. There is plenty of animal interaction and learning opportunities here.


We are situated within a farm environment on the edge of Leighton Buzzard and provide children with the very best early year’s education, following the EYFS structure of learning like all our other farm-based Day Nursery sites.
Mead Open Farm Day Nursery & Pre-school has its own dedicated nursery garden and boasts modern
facilities in a rural setting.
