At Little Pioneers St Edwards, they work together with parents to make sure that each child has the support they need by having close relationships with their parents and guardians. They have regular workshops, parents' evenings and forums.

They have 5 Little Pioneers who help share their core values with children from encouraging them to express their feelings to making a difference in the world. They have a ParentZone app which keeps parents/carers informed about life at nursery with photos from their day, assessments, meals eaten and even toilet training progress!

They are big on safety and that's why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained. They are silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.

They are also big on happy children so they have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and take care of each other and the world.

Located on the outskirts of leafy Selly Park in Birmingham, Little Pioneers St Edwards provides high quality, innovative childcare for children up to the age of five. The nursery is set in a converted Victorian school with its own Forest School nearby.

The Little Pioneers team provide wonderful care. They individualise learning goals, are creative in the activities they design (they are fun but also really extend children developmentally) and are great at communicating with parents. The food is also wonderful, healthy and diverse flavours!

The nursery have been fantastic with our daughter (18 months) who has attended since September 2019 and loves it there. The manager and the whole team have made her feel very welcome. We have noticed a positive difference in her speech and general abilities while being there which we hope continues.
Importantly, she seems very happy and positive about being there which is really important to us both working parents. They were particularly supportive during the time of the pandemic which was very appreciated.

Little Pioneers has been wonderful for my grandson. From the age of 2 and a half years to 4 years old, he has benefited from the care and attention he has received there. The staff have been terrific: patient, caring and supportive. Nothing has been too much trouble and every child is treated as an
individual. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found Little Pioneers.

Our little girl was just under 7 months old when she started and we were going through a phase of her being upset with everyone and anyone, including family if she could not see me or her dad. Since attending this nursery, her confidence has grown so much, she’s a happy little baby that now waves at
me if she knows I’m going somewhere. Being at the nursery has also given us a much better day time routine and I am very grateful for this. She’s eating a wider variety of food, she gets to play outside and interact with other children, we have noticed she’s been coming home having learned new skills such as waving and dancing. When we drop her off in the morning, she will now put her arms out to the staff in her room and is willing to go to them with a smile. It makes my working day much more bearable knowing she is happy where she is.

The staff are amazing, they have really helped to get our son settled into the nursery. They often hold workshops and sometimes it's on the weekend so that we both can attend. We feel that our son has learnt so much already.

My son has attended Little Pioneers for 18 months. He is now 3 years old and in the Pre-school room.
He loves to get stuck into a variety of activities and they are allowed plenty of independent play outdoors. They have lots of educational play activities and learning to play with other children. He
has made a good group of friends who he loves to talk about. The staff are very much a safe pair of hands, always friendly and supportive, comforting for our son and reassuring for us as parents to know our children are being supported emotionally as well as looked after.

Excellent nursery with kind, caring and attentive staff. My 21 month old son settled extremely well and the facilities, food and activities are brilliant. I like how they get the parents involved and arrange coffee mornings and activities sessions for parents to attend too.

My son absolutely loves nursery and has done since starting just before his 1st birthday. Now in preschool, he continues to enjoy his time. His activities are broad and engaging. Staff are welcoming and I feel most of his staff know him well. It’s clear he likes them.
Nursery could just improve on
the communication side of things. Returning phone calls and emails, informing about events in advance, fixing the formatting of the newsletter so it can be read, for example. However, this seems better with the new manager.

Fabulous!! We are very happy with the care our two children receive at this nursery; the staff are caring, attentive and the environment is wonderful. The activities are varied, inventive, creative and stimulating. No hesitation in recommending whatsoever!

Staff within the Little Creators 1 room are friendly and attentive and create a lovely atmosphere within the nursery. It makes drop-offs a pleasant experience and the one time my daughter was a little upset one of the staff members thoughtfully sent me an app update of her happily tucking into breakfast
after I had left which was wonderful to see. The use of the app to share information and photos of activities during the day is great and gives a real insight into the messy play and exploring they get up to at nursery. Any questions I have are always answered rapidly and any special requirements are managed with ease.

Little Pioneers are a great team. My daughter has attended from 4 months old and I have always been very happy with how caring the staff are. There is always something fun and educational for the children to do, suiting the age and my daughter loves the staff here! I haven’t used a nursery before with
my older children, so I was a bit nervous when starting out but I have complete faith in the staff here now and couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

My son has thrived since starting nursery two days per week. The staff are attentive, friendly and caring and the nursery is stimulating, organised and clean!

St Edward's is an amazing nursery. We got a fabulous feeling for it the minute we looked around it and we've never lost it. Our son is so so happy here, the staff are amazing and I really would recommend it to everyone.

Things were very unsettled at the nursery whilst it was being taken over by The Co-op and I considered moving my child. However recently - huge improvements. They have recruited enthusiastic, caring staff who seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Staff retention has improved (after a mass exodus with
the take over), agency staff reduced. It is very much a chain nursery - there are policies which I feel don't put the child at the centre, however, this is compensated for by common sense and caring staff. The building and outside space are lovely and used frequently. Staff from all the rooms seem to know the names of all the children so movement between rooms. Recently the chef has been catering extremely well for dietary requirements meaning all the children can safely eat a variation of the same food. The activities are very good, however, I understood that forest school was offered but I don't think it's happening - very disappointing. My child is extremely happy at this nursery.

Excellent provision of activities for children suitable for their age and development. High standard of care provided from staff and good rapport with staff and children. Excellent communication from staff to ensure children feel settled into the nursery and to work in partnership with families to meet
children's normal routine and needs. Nursery has a very varied 4 week rolling menu season dependent which provides healthy and nutritious meals choices.

St Edwards is a fantastic nursery. The staff are friendly, caring and engaging. Both my eldest who is now at school and my son have attended the nursery. The environment is stimulating and fun, the outside space is great for exploring and the food is great. Highly recommend.

Today we took our son to the breakfast with Santa event. We had such a lovely morning! There were so many fun games and activities for our son to do. His favourite was playing with the reindeer food. He got to meet Santa too! What really impressed us though was that the staff were all there joining
in and smiling as much as usual when they probably wanted to be relaxing at home after working so hard all week!

Nothing but positivity for the staff in the purple room and First Steps Nursery. My 11-month-old is so happy spending his days there in the care of the amazing staff. He is loved and cared for and I couldn't be any happier. My first born attended First Steps before starting school this September and
every day we come to pick up my son. She is super excited to see the staff who cared for her during her time here. Everyone is very friendly and super experienced. I would have no hesitation in recommending.

The nursery team have failed to repay my payment which I overpaid by mistake. In spite of repeated requests they have not paid me.


The standard of care has deteriorated in the last 1 year as good staff have left. The management is not trustworthy and doesn't keep up to their words.


They did not

prepare my child well for the reception year. Although the fees are expensive, the standard is not great.
