Munchkins Nursery & Pre-School Wivenhoe

The manager and the team at Munchkins are fantastic. As first-time parents and coming out of the COVID pandemic, it was so daunting to leave our son as he'd not been without one of us until then at 13 months. The team have made us feel welcome and at ease every step of the way and were so patient with us. Daily updates of how he's doing, we can see the improvements in his progression at home too! Was all worth pushing through the tough first few weeks leaving him as he now loves seeing one staff member in particular in the morning and runs in without hesitation. Thank you Munchkins.

I took my 4-year-old to nursery this morning; it’s his last day. Four years of nursery has flown by, as it does for all parents I suppose. His time with Munchkins Nursery has been full of adventure, learning, caring and friend-making. The staff have been the most caring and nurturing that we could have wished for. I’m just going to pick him up for the final time. I think the warm welcome that we receive from all the staff, but particularly the excellent manager will be sorely missed. We would recommend Munchkins very highly to anybody.

My son moved to Munchkins in June 2020 due to COVID, and his other nursery not reopening. I was nervous about how he would settle, as he was at another nursery since birth, but everything was handled so well! My son is thriving and absolutely loves it. I am very happy with the move, and we look forward to the next two years with Munchkins.

Our little boy moved to Munchkins in July 2020 after 4 months at home due to COVID. I was quite nervous about how he would settle after leaving his previous nursery and the period at home but everything has been handled so well! I can’t thank the manager and the team enough. The staff are all so warm, kind and passionate and they have truly taken the time to get to know my son's likes/needs and routine - always being totally led by him! The nursery itself is warm and homely with a fantastic garden and a brilliant range of resources. The communication is fantastic and most importantly my son runs through the gate without looking back every morning - he loves it and doesn’t stop nattering about the ‘magic garden’ as it has become known in our house. Thank you again!

We are so pleased we sent our child to Munchkins and the nursery staff have put so much into his development, we cannot thank them enough for helping our little boy become who he is.

My three children have all attended Munchkins. I just cannot fault it. The care is beyond exceptional and the staff are so passionate and loving. Forest School is an absolute must and my two older ones now attend the holiday club as they love it so much. Go Munchkins and keep up the great work.

My son has been going to Munchkins from ten-months- old (he is now 2.5 years old) and he absolutely loves it there. The girls are all so supportive of his needs and have helped him to grow emotionally and physically. He has built wonderful relationships and made some lovely friends. My husband and I; are never worried or concerned about him while he is there. He always comes home with a big smile on his face and chats away about his little adventures (and the yummy food he ate!). I genuinely believe that Munchkins has helped in his development from baby to little boy. The actual setting is perfect for little ones who love to be surrounded by nature - getting muddy, wet, climbing on everything and having fun as kids should do. Thank you Munchkins!

I couldn’t recommend this Nursery highly enough! My daughter has been there since she was 2 and had her last day on Friday! She has had an amazing time there and was very sad to leave! The staff are all amazing and take great care of the little ones and make you feel at ease! I love the fact you can just call up any time and ask how they are doing and that just puts your mind at ease too! The other thing I love as a working Mummy you don’t need to get anything ready in the mornings. Their bag is packed with essentials like sunhat and spare clothes but you don’t need to worry about Nappies or food it’s so easy! I would definitely recommend this to all!

The manager was always on the case of little or big issues at the end of the phone, email or ready to see you without prior appointment. The location is wonderful, surrounded by nature. The setting benefits from a well-kept and organic garden-nothing is artificial. Sadly, we had to relocate recently and this is the only reason we left Munchkins. We will always miss Munchkins, but our son will always carry all they gave him. Thank you, Munchkins!

We chose Munchkins because we were impressed by the outdoor space and the relaxed atmosphere. Our child settled in well in the pre-school, and the staff are welcoming and communicative. We felt comfortable raising any issues we were having and felt that they were always resolved swiftly and compassionately. We have been pleased with how much of an impact Munchkins has had on our child's confidence, communication and general lust for learning new things - particularly Forest School. Our child has been very happy here, and I would recommend it, particularly to parents keen on child-led learning.

My daughter loved going to Munchkins for two years (she starts big school tomorrow). The staff are brilliant, the surroundings idyllic, and facilities excellent. Every opportunity is taken to play outside, and my daughter has learnt so much through play. She has been encouraged and developed into a very sociable, inquisitive and sharing child, and formed great relationships with staff and other children alike.

It really feels like each child is allowed to be themselves, while learning how to operate with others and I have no doubt that staff know and understand and love my daughter as much as I do.

Communication from management is on point, and never stuffy or overly fussy, and the whole experience has been a joy.

They are always looking for new opportunities to grow without damaging the brilliant atmosphere they have created.

My two daughters have been at Munchkins for the past year and it has been brilliant for both of them. It's a great nurturing environment with lots of outdoor play and integrated learning. Developing and learning through a broad range of activities, both have been so happy there. The staff are kind and caring and have helped them to grow into confident and happy children. My eldest is leaving to start school and I know she will miss it greatly. Forest school and the time spent outside was an important reason for us to choose the nursery and it hasn't disappointed. It's great!

Her last year in the preschool room saw a great change in her understanding of spelling, rhyming and jolly phonics. I feel she has been prepped for school and given a great base on which to grow.

Great people, place and environment for children to thrive and learn, particularly outside. Our child loves it there!

Fun and friendly atmosphere, fabulous garden, and wonderful forest school facilities - the kids love the yurt! Our little one has been going since he was 6 months old, and he's just turned 3. Settled in well from the start and loves going.

My daughter has attended Munchkins for nearly a full year, having started the nursery at only 8 months old.

She has the most wonderful time and is always eager to get to nursery. It's one of VERY FEW places she is happy to go in with a smile on her face and I can visibly see her excitement for the day and her joy to be there. (which, for my very clingy child is nothing short of miraculous).

Even though she's only there two days a week, the staff all know my daughter and appreciate her as an individual in all aspects of her development.

Her confidence has grown massively since attending, and although I was apprehensive about leaving her for my return to work, it has turned out to be one of the most positive things we've done for her. It's like she's gained a big extended family.

Have only selected "good" for cleanliness because if you expect a child to return home clean and shiny from any nursery, then they aren't having enough fun (in my opinion).

Munchkins nursery Wivenhoe is quite simple a home from home and a loving and caring environment for our 18 month old son. He has been attending since he was 11 months old and his progress across the board has been excellent. We are very pleased with the care he receives, the educational aspect of his time at nursery and the extra activities such as trips out in the village he goes on. All of the team are excellent with him and communication for us as parents is very good too. His key worker is a big favourite of his and it really says a lot about Munchkins when he’s excited to leave the house each day. Highly recommend for a well rounded nursery experience.
