Barley Barn Nursery Sawbridgeworth provides quality childcare for children aged three months to eleven years. The Day Nursery and Preschool are based in a beautiful, Grade 2 listed country house in the sleepy market town of Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.

The setting is centrally placed in the local catchment area of numerous outstanding primary and secondary schools.

Morning, afternoon or all day sessions are offered at times that are as flexible as possible regarding early drop offs and later pick-ups, should they be required.

The pre-schoolers benefit from having their own annex to enable them to thrive and reach their full potential in preparation and readiness for school.

Food is provided by the fully trained and dedicated chef in the on-site kitchen, who prepares healthy, nutritionally balanced meals and snacks using fresh, locally sourced ingredients on a daily basis.

There are two gardens at Sawbridgeworth, enabling a wide range of outdoor activity to take place each day, offering a broad, age specific outdoor curriculum.

Ample parking is available in Bell Street Car Park, adjacent to the nursery which ensures easy access. There is also a designated buggy storage park to enable parents to drop off and collect their children from the nursery as smoothly as possible.

The nursery really puts emphasis on the well-being and development of my child. The days are full of activities encouraging children to explore their surroundings. All of the staff on site are caring towards children and interact with them in the communal garden.

The girls here are amazing. My daughter has severe eczema and many food allergies. The girls made the whole process so much easier for me and my daughter. The way they dealt with her extra needs, and the way they have helped me through my struggles - I couldn't have asked for better care. I absolutely
recommend this nursery 100% and more. If only I could take the girls with me to primary school!

The girls at this surgery are absolutely amazing. There are so caring and compassionate with everything they do. They put so much time and effort in caring for the kids. My daughter has come on leaps and bounds since being there and I enjoy seeing her grow and learn with them. Thank you girls.

My daughter has been going to nursery for about two years and a half now and she loves it! She has found it a bit unsettling moving rooms at times but the staff have been so great with her and have made her feel much better about it all. She talks about the staff who look after her a lot most days when
she is not there and loves them all for individual reasons. I think that is lovely as it shows what an impact they all have on her in different ways! They do so much fun stuff and it's lovely to see the activities on the app.

My daughter started this nursery when she was 10 months old and has been there for nearly 6 months. We are so happy we choose this nursery to look after our child. As a nurse, it was always a worry that my daughter wouldn't settle, however since day one she has been so happy to be there and is looked
after so well. All the staff are so friendly and approachable. Her development has come on leaps and bounds being at this nursery exploring and learning. My daughter has even learnt baby sign language.
It's such a positive having multiple updates with their app of how her day has been with pictures!
My daughter has multiple food allergies and the team have been fantastic and proactive with this and my daughter loves the food they serve her. I've never had to worry that she might potentially eat something she could react to.
I highly recommend this nursery to any potential parents!

I have two children at Barley Barn. One at pre-school and one in the baby room. They both love it. My eldest runs to the door in the mornings, excited to go in. She loves all the arts and crafts they do, which I get to see from photos on the app. My younger daughter has a visual impairment. Her key
worker and the Barley Barn team have been a fantastic support, keen to help in any way they can, and keeping me well informed of how she is progressing. I know she is in safe hands and I can't thank them enough.

Our son has been at the nursery for almost a year now (started at around 20 months) and we are so pleased with his development. He learns new things every week and they have brought out so much in him. He loves the staff and is always happy to go. He eats and sleeps well and comes home full of beans

Our daughter has been enrolled at the nursery since she was 10 months old. We only have good things to say about the nursery. Our little girl has thrived in this environment and she has been well supported by all members of staff in both the baby room and now the nursery room. The staff are welcoming,
friendly and incredibly caring. Our little girl loves her keyworkers and speaks about them even when she’s not at nursery. She looks forward to her nursery days, so that speaks volumes about the care. The team are enthusiastic and there are always lovely activities set up for the children. They are offered a range of foods, which our little girl throughly enjoys. Communication has been brilliant since a new app system has been adopted. It’s great to be able to receive updates and check in on our daughter. Overall we would highly recommend the nursery. It may look a little rough around the edges, but this has no effect on the excellent caring environment.

Our daughter has been with Barley Barn since the baby room and is now in the pre-school room and she absolutely loves it. The settling in at the beginning were wonderfully managed and we have felt very supported throughout. She has made good friends and adores her teachers. We love receiving the updates
throughout the day with the app and seeing all the activities she is doing and what she is learning. The staff there are very friendly and supportive and it's a very nurturing environment where play is at the core. I would highly recommend Barley Barn!

My son has been at Barley Barn right through from the Baby room to now Pre-school, and he has absolutely loved his time there.
The team are fantastic and always go above and beyond, any problems or concerns have always been dealt with quickly and efficiently.
I couldn’t have asked for a better team
or environment for my son to be in - he has seemed so happy to be there and always comes home full of energy and excited to tell me about his day!

My baby has been at Barley Barn for over 3 months now and has settled in beautifully. She is thriving on the different activities available each day. I had great support and communication with the nursery during her weaning process. She has a brilliant mixed diet of homemade food. The communication
with the carers is brilliant, always open and honest so I feel I trust them totally. I would 100% recommend the under 2’s room to anyone.

Barley Barn is amazing. My little girl's development each day amazes me and I put most of it down to the staff at the nursery. They have ensured she has met and exceeded every milestone even potty training and I couldn’t be happier that I moved her from her previous nursery. The girls that work here
treat the kids like their own little family and have so much genuine love and passion for them, and take so much interest in their daily lives as well as looking after them. I always say it’s the staff that make a nursery and these girls do an amazing job and deserve so much credit. As a mum leaving your infant in capable hands who you know you can trust is hugely important.

My son has been at the nursery from the baby room all the way through to pre-school and we have seen many changes. I must say that the team there are amazing, and have been extremely supportive throughout our journey. The nursery offers ‘school’ and ‘work’ friendly hours and have always been very accommodating
to our family’s changing needs. The new app which has been introduced recently is informative and allows us to see what our son does during the day, we love seeing the photos.
Overall would highly recommend!

My Son absolutely loves his time spent at Bright Horizons Sawbridgeworth. He started in their Nursery and is now in pre-school. He has come so far with the support, guidance empowerment and encouragement from all the wonderful staff. His learning, independence and understanding he has gained at 4 years
old are phenomenal. The staff are amazing, very empathetic and attentive to all his needs and changing needs. I have lovely chats about my son with the staff when I pick him up, I’m also kept up to date throughout the day with photos of what he is doing also with his meals and snacks via the app. My son has met friends for life, he has so much fun in there. My working environment has changed on a few occasions with days and times, it was just never a problem for the manager and the other staff she supported me 100% in everything.

My son has spent a lovely three years with the staff at Barley Barn, moving from the baby room, all the way up to pre-school. He is shy and stubborn, a particularly trying combination - but it was never a problem for any of the team at Barley Barn Sawbridgeworth. He was loved and accepted for who he
was, and given room and support he needed to develop and grow at his own pace. Their patience with him (and an anxious first-time mum) was endless, and so greatly appreciated. We are so grateful for the time he spent there, and the friends he made. Would happily send any future children back! We will miss you all!

My son has been so happy during his time at Sawbridgeworth Barley Barn nursery. His development has been enhanced as well in all aspects and the staff have been very supportive and attentive. He has made many good friends who he will continue to see out of nursery time.
He is ready for school now.
Thank you to all the staff who apart from assisting him and helping him learn have been there for him every step of the way. He will definitely miss you all.

I started my career in childcare with Bright Horizons back in 2003 as a Nursery Nurse, and have been fortunate enough with the company to become a Nursery Manager. I transferred over to Sawbridgeworth in December 2020, and have loved watching the children Thrive, and also the staff.
Staff development is one of my passions and I strive to get the best out of each and every staff member to ensure the children can experience the awe and wonder whilst at the nursery.

I have worked for Bright Horizons for 8 years and joined the Sawbridgeworth team a year ago after transferring from another Bright Horizons Nursery. I have a 2.5-year-old daughter who also attends the nursery and is thriving. I am passionate about my job and enjoy seeing the children grow and watching their development from babies through to graduating and being ready for school. The majority of my experience has been with Under 2s and I worked my way up from a Room Supervisor to a Deputy Manager. I look forward to seeing where my Sawbridgeworth journey will take me.
