St Margarets Nursery & Preschool Craigmillar Park

My two children are very happy at St Margarets. They spend plenty of time outdoors when the weather is good enough (there are several outdoor spaces). The staff seem very caring and fond of the children. I particularly like that my daughter, who is in the preschool room, has the opportunity to participate in visits to residents in a nearby care home most weeks. They also go on other outings such as local walks and trips to the park, which she likes. The nursery has also recently invested in providing sturdy sheltered areas to keep parents dry when doing drop off and pick ups.

The building itself is big and the outside space is lovely. We would recommend St Margaret’s to anyone.

Our son has been at St Margarets Nursery for over a year and he has loved every day there! He has been in three rooms as he’s developed and all the staff across the whole are wonderful! The rooms are inviting, stimulating and engaging, with quiet areas of cuddles and reading. The food sounds delicious, varied and plentiful. Regular updates online and at the end of the day make me feel connected to his day and help us with ideas for the weekend!

In summary, we couldn't be happier with our choice. This nursery goes above and beyond to create a loving and enriching environment for our child. Highly recommended!

Our son has been going to St Margarets for over 2 years now and he absolutely loves it. The rooms are beautiful and they have lots of space to play outside. The menu is varied and if my son does not like the food that day, they always provide lots of healthy alternatives. The staff have always been thoughtful and helpful.

Our son (2 and 3/4s) attends this nursery and has done so since he was 9 months old and we have been delighted with his time at St Margaret's. The facilities are terrific, with large rooms for play/education and there is significant outside space for the children to enjoy in all seasons. Their menu is varied and extensive, and they seem to have more success at getting him to eat different things than we do which is a big bonus. However, the real asset and reason we value the nursery so much is the staff - our son has transitioned through three classes with new teachers so far, but each time the staff have been considerate and kind, and have made a positive impression, not only on ourselves but also on our son directly. Would highly recommend.

We could not recommend this nursery enough. My son went from 14 months right in the middle of Covid and the staff went above and beyond to help him settle. They really helped us with his delayed speech and social skills and genuinely cared about him. The staff turnover is really very low and it’s so lovely because even now, at 4, there are a lot of the same staff and they have seen him grow up and know and care about him as an individual. We were very sad to take him out to start at school nursery, but we were very lucky that his sister got a place and she is thriving at St Margaret’s and every time her brother comes for pick up staff take time to chat to him and make him feel special. The activities that are planned for the children and the thought that goes into everything that is done is so impressive. Highly recommend!

Also, need to add that nursery staff are constantly planning events for the children, which always have us looking forward to some parent play day or holiday-themed parties. Nursery facilities are top notch and the daily lunch menu’s are a big hit with my kiddo. Overall great place, highly recommend.

In closing, St Margarets has been a fantastic choice for our family. The warm and nurturing environment, coupled with the dedicated staff, makes it an ideal place for any child's growth and happiness.

I can’t recommend St Margaret's enough, we’ve had a wonderful experience there for the past two years. The staff communicate excellently and my son has always had a really positive relationship with his key worker, in each of his rooms. The facilities are of a very high standard and there’s lots of outdoor space for the kids to play freely. We’ll be sad to leave next year!

A calming, clean and dynamic environment for little ones to grow. Our daughter absolutely loves going here. The staff are fantastic and their processes are considered and thorough - which means a lot when having a child with allergies. Would recommend.

Our little girl has been going to St Margarets for the last almost 18 months. It is such a wonderful nursery, the facilities are lovely and fresh and clean. The staff clearly care so much about the children. Our little girl tells us all about her little friends and how one of her teachers is her best friend. With all the different activities and resources they have available, it is clear how much this setting has helped our daughter's development. The food offering is also excellent with our daughter trying loads of new foods. It’s so lovely to know how happy our daughter is at nursery.

My Daughter loves to go to nursery and we value the relationships with you all. We are pleased with her development and happiness. Thank you to the Manager who supported us in difficult time. Your excellent staff are not my daughters mother but their role is just as strong. Thank you for providing a safe, contained place for my daughter to play and smile, and paint, glitter and glue. It’s been probably the single best decision we have ever taken to send our daughter to St Margaret's Nursery.

I love working here, the staff are so friendly, the facilities are phenomenal, soft play, garden, there is so much for the kids to do. I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

We looked at several nurseries for our 4-year-old son before picking St Margaret's. It was a real stand out in terms of the learning environments and pleasant atmosphere. I was also impressed that there are qualified primary teachers on staff for pre-schoolers and that, as well as play, there are activities built into the day to prepare wee ones for Primary 1. Letter and number recognition, and having routines for hanging up jackets and eating together are essential skills to make the transition easier.

I have to say, I have never once doubted my decision to send my son there. The staff are friendly and supportive, as well as firm when necessary. Play is often free form, and the outside space is amazing, but there is also a good balance of structured activities. The pre-schoolers visit as old peoples' home every 2 weeks and this is a wonderful mutually beneficial arrangement. The food is planned by a nutritionist and encourages healthy eating.

Brilliant nursery. The nursery is very spacious and the rooms are great. Very clean and with underfloor heating which is great for crawling babies and kids playing on the floor. My 28-month-old boy used to hate going to the nursery but after moving to St Margarets he can't wait to go there.

They have a big garden area to use and an indoor soft-play area which is ideal when the weather is horrible.

Great communication with staff and managers. No problems at all.

Great facilities for the children including soft play and a sensory room which are mainly used when the weather is bad and they can’t get into the garden. There is a small car park making drop off and pick up safer than parking on the road. Children are encouraged to be independent and room sizes are small enough that children are always involved and not left on the periphery. They use a secure online learning journal which we find great for allowing Grandparents to see how their grandchild is progressing at nursery.

It’s an outstanding nursery with both my kids very happy to be there and the staff are very helpful. They have lots of activities to keep little ones busy and a lovely big garden area as well.

We have been delighted with all elements of St Margarets. Our son settled very quickly there and every member of staff has been caring and enthusiastic. The management are focused on learning and make a dedicated team.
