We have had a really positive experience from the day our eldest daughter first started at St Margarets. The staff go the extra mile, they are so personable and engaging and the detailed reports we receive for both of our girls at the end of each day reassure us that they receive the very best care
and attention. The daily picture and video updates via the app are excellent too and keep us informed of the diverse range of activities they partake in. A great nursery in a lovely setting - thanks so much for looking after our girls so well.

St Margarets Nursery is fabulous! I have 2 sons there who both love it, they are delighted to run in each morning and come out with huge smiles on their faces, so win win for my wife and I. The staff are all fantastic, so positive, helpful and provide safe and fun environment for all. The food sounds
better than what I get at home!
We get fantastic regular updates via a mobile app, so feel connected to the boys on what they have been doing all day. The activities are really well planned and help with their development. It's night and day between other nurseries we have seen, I am so glad we were able to secure a place for my 2 boys.

Both of our children have been attending St Margarets this last year and we are extremely happy with the experience they have had.
The children both love it there and have formed great bonds with the excellent staff and also created some amazing friendships with their peers. We have seen amazing progress
in their development thanks to the teaching and care at the nursery. The facilities are excellent with a wide range of activities and access to a wonderful outside area. There is also great communication with end-of-the-day catch-ups and online blogs. I would highly recommend St Margarets.

This is a great, well-organised nursery with fantastic staff who are very professional, but also very caring of the children in each room. There is good food service, lots of activities, and the teachers pay special attention to creating a friendly and welcoming environment.

St Margarets Nursery & Preschool has been a great stepping stone for my little boy’s journey into the outside world. He loves the space and the staff and looks forward to attending every day which is a testament to the fact how lovely the environment is. It provides a great learning environment, plenty
of outdoor space with great facilities and a staff that truly loves what they do. His food requirements are also always taken care of. The 2.5 years have been absolutely lovely.

Our son has been going to the nursery since 2021 and our daughter has just started and I honestly couldn't recommend this nursery highly enough! They've been absolutely brilliant from the very start. The building itself is gorgeous, with two massive gardens in the back. It is kept immaculately clean.
The food the kids get given is all organic and changes every week. The staff are absolutely incredible - they are so kind and caring, and so invested in your childs well being. Management is superb and always really proactive when it comes to safety and updating policies and procedures so I always feel safe leaving my kids in their care. I'm not sure what I was expecting when visiting nurseries but no nursery I've ever seen has even come close to St Margarets! Absolutely 10/10 would recommend it to anyone!

The staff and all so kind and

My two children are very happy at St Margarets. They spend plenty of time outdoors when the weather is good enough (there are several outdoor spaces). The staff seem very caring and fond of the children. I particularly like that my daughter, who is in the preschool room, has the opportunity to participate
in visits to residents in a nearby care home most weeks. They also go on other outings such as local walks and trips to the park, which she likes. The nursery has also recently invested in providing sturdy sheltered areas to keep parents dry when doing drop off and pick ups.

Both of our children have been at St Margarets for the past few years. When we first walked in we knew it would be a lovely place for them to attend and I'm glad to say we were right. They both love it, have made lots of firm friends and love the staff, who are all very friendly. It's also very professional
behind the scenes too. I'd highly recommend it, the only drawback is that it is expensive, but you get what you pay for as with many things in life.

What a great nursery/preschool.
They are so dedicated to the children. It is not only education that they share with kids. It is love as well. It’s wonderful to see how happy your child is to go to school every day. How she talks about her friends and teachers
I was told this is the best nursery/preschool,
and I know now it is!

In my honest opinion, St Margaret's is truly the best nursery, and I say this from the perspective of a parent with three kids. The team at St Margaret's goes above and beyond in caring for the children. They are not only fun and caring but also great at managing the energy of busy and challenging toddlers
while keeping them safe!
My daughter has experienced exceptional care in the 18 months she has been at St Margaret's. She loves the nursery, her teachers, and her friends. This positive experience has remained consistent across three different rooms (Babies, Beanies and Toddlers). The transition between rooms has been seamless, with careful consideration of timing and transition steps, along with clear communication.
As a parent, I appreciate, on occasion, being invited to explore the indoor and outdoor areas where my daughter spends her time and the regular child/parent updates on progress and milestones met to contribute to a strong sense of partnership between parents and the nursery.

We really like St Margaret’s Nursery for our 14-month-old son. He was a little unsettled when he first started but all the staff helped to ease him in and put our minds at ease! We always feel we can ask questions and staff are very friendly and helpful. Three members of staff, in particular, are amazing
with our little one and we love hearing his end-of-day updates.
The building itself is big and the outside space is lovely. We would recommend St Margaret’s to anyone.

Our son has been at St Margarets Nursery for over a year and he has loved every day there! He has been in three rooms as he’s developed and all the staff across the whole are wonderful! The rooms are inviting, stimulating and engaging, with quiet areas of cuddles and reading. The food sounds delicious,
varied and plentiful. Regular updates online and at the end of the day make me feel connected to his day and help us with ideas for the weekend!

We have had a very positive experience with St Margaret's Nursery. The staff's genuine care and dedication shine through in every aspect. Their well-thought-out, developmentally appropriate activities have not only captured our daughter's interest, but also fostered her growth.
The access to garden
play areas with a variety of toys and bikes adds a delightful dimension to the learning environment. Communication is excellent, with responsive staff actively seeking feedback to enhance the children's experiences.
What truly sets this nursery apart is the formation of close relationships. Our daughter has not only flourished in her learning, but has also formed strong bonds with both peers and staff. It's heartening to witness her enthusiasm and positive growth in such a nurturing setting.
In summary, we couldn't be happier with our choice. This nursery goes above and beyond to create a loving and enriching environment for our child. Highly recommended!

Our little girl has been going to St Margarets for the last almost 18 months. It is such a wonderful nursery, the facilities are lovely and fresh and clean. The staff clearly care so much about the children. Our little girl tells us all about her little friends and how one of her teachers is her best
friend. With all the different activities and resources they have available, it is clear how much this setting has helped our daughter's development. The food offering is also excellent with our daughter trying loads of new foods. It’s so lovely to know how happy our daughter is at nursery.

We’ve been delighted with the care and attention our son receives at St Margarets Nursery. The management's flexibility with start dates has been exceptional.
The staff are very supportive, providing regular updates at pick-up, which we find reassuring. Additionally, their online journal gives a glimpse
into our son's day. While we wish for more frequent updates in their online journal, we understand the effort involved and hope for one update every week or once every two weeks!
The big, bright interiors and gardens contribute to a spacious and well-lit setting, creating a wonderful atmosphere for kids to thrive in. Their strong communication strategy, including updates on learning activities and meal menus adds an extra layer of transparency and involvement for parents, enhancing the overall experience.
Seeing our son so happy there reassures us that this nursery has played a significant role in his development.

I can’t recommend St Margaret's enough, we’ve had a wonderful experience there for the past two years. The staff communicate excellently and my son has always had a really positive relationship with his key worker, in each of his rooms. The facilities are of a very high standard and there’s lots of
outdoor space for the kids to play freely. We’ll be sad to leave next year!

Shifting our daughter, who has been attending nursery since she was 10 months old, to St Margarets Nursery in Edinburgh has been a delightful experience. We moved from London in August and naturally we were apprehensive about how she would adapt to a new environment. However, our worries were quickly
put to rest.
The range of activities, especially the French and Spanish language sessions, is a highlight. She adores these classes and we can see the positive impact on her learning and development. The nursery's spacious setting is perfect for various fun and educational activities.
An added bonus is the quality of meals provided, which are nutritious and cater well to her dietary needs.
In closing, St Margarets has been a fantastic choice for our family. The warm and nurturing environment, coupled with the dedicated staff, makes it an ideal place for any child's growth and happiness.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.941)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.941) out of 10 for St Margarets Nursery & Preschool Craigmillar Park is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for St Margarets Nursery & Preschool Craigmillar Park is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.989 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Margarets Nursery & Preschool Craigmillar Park is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 121 number of registered child places is 24.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 24.2 = 0.289
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
