A home-from-home nursery in Greenwich

Located in a residential development area, Greenwich Day Nursery and Preschool, has been carefully designed to support your child’s education and development, from 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery provides an enabling and stimulating environment with fun and challenging activities that are age and stage appropriate for all their children. They have five large, open-plan rooms tailored to each age group, and a lovely external play area where the children can flourish and explore.

Children have free flow access to the garden from the 2+ rooms and babies have access to the garden daily at an allocated time, giving them the space and opportunity to explore. Outside, the children will love playing with the mud kitchen, water wall and in the Growing Gardener’s area, where they plant a variety of flowers. The nursery also has a climbing frame and balancing beams in the garden encouraging the children to develop their gross motor skills, and soft play is used both within the rooms and the garden for the younger children too.

At Greenwich nursery, the carefully selected staff team lead the children through a range of educational activities, such as number and construction activities, scavenger hunts, sport activities, messy play, crafts and turn-taking activities.

For babies and toddlers, the nursery prides itself in providing a safe and exciting environment, rich with opportunities to explore, with books, singing and play. The baby room has a cot room where they use calming music and sensory lights to create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere to help the babies sleep. Preschool children are well prepared for their transition to school through the nursery's Growing Enhancement programme, unique to Bright Horizons.

All the team at the nursery are excited to be part of every child’s journey and look forward to conducting a personal nursery tour, book yours today!

Our son has been attending this nursery since he was 11 months old.
The facilities are lovely, though they are not able to support trips outside the nursery. Instead, they use a purpose-built garden on the premises for outdoor play and exploration.
The permanent staff are all very caring and genuinely
seem to care for the children, which is reassuring as we are full-time working parents.
The only thing I feel could be worked on is more engagement with parents around topics of learning, so parents can continue focusing on the same themes at home if they wish.

This is a lovely little nursery, conveniently located near to transport links. The staff are very friendly and really seem to enjoy working with children.
The food is excellent, both healthy and varied. The rooms are very clean and all the toys and equipment are also clean and seem interesting for
the children.
The only drawback is limited access to an otherwise great outdoors playing area.

I appreciate the daily report and help weaning her off her dummy.

My child is having an amazing time at this nursery. He has made loads of friends and is becoming very confident. He is learning how to count and is even speaking a little French, which I think is good. This is preparing him for the next stage which is school and I know he is prepared.
The staff are
very friendly which I think is very comforting too.

I initially had concerns with this nursery being brand new and having some expected start up issues. However, my concerns were addressed professionally and with compassion. The staff have all been great in helping my child settle. I would love my child to have language and sports classes here. Mandarin,
Yoga, Football or even a swim class would be great additions as well as excursions.

Friendly carers who are always ready with a hug, a smile and a song. Would be nice to hear more about how my baby is progressing towards developmental goals and how we can support these in the home over time.

My daughter has just started at this nursery. Overall I am happy with the care provided but I do have some constructive comments from my experience at enrollment and settling in:
1/ There were numerous forms to complete on site on first settling day, with info that requires referring to diary/contact
book/mobile phone, the latter cannot be used on the site. I suggest this should be emailed to parents to complete before first settling in day.
2/ Baby room should have no outside shoe policy.
3/ Admin staff communication could be friendlier, and more empathic to parents who may not have experienced a child's separation anxiety.

The building is a secure environment away from traffic. Good lock and key system to enter the nursery and a manager is sitting right at the entrance to welcome you. Spacious rooms for kids and very caring staff, eager to know about your child and what are they like at home. Even make an effort to learn
our local/foreign words to understand what child is communicating to them. Very happy overall.

We are very happy with this nursery. My son started in April 2017 and since then he is happy in the mornings when we go. They take good care of him, there are not many kids and they always do plenty of activities and are flexible with food.

My 15-month-old son loves Bright Horizons Greenwich Day Nursery and Preschool. He's attended the nursery since it opened in February and is really happy here. The staff are wonderful - infinitely patient, caring, kind, fun and genuinely fond of the kids in their care. The facilities are great and staff
organise lots of messy play which means we don't have to get sand, water and paint all over the house! We've been very impressed with the quality of food - my son always eats everything and often wants second helping! The management team are approachable and communicate well with parents. Highly recommended.

Greenwich Day Nursery is a new nursery opened in January 2017. The delays in opening caused a significant amount of disruption to my return to work following maternity leave. However, the manager and her team have been very communicative and did a great job in supporting my then 12-month-old and me
during her settling in period. She is engaged in activities, well fed, always clean and dry and she seems happy in the nursery setting. Her key workers and carers are good and baby likes them. There are a couple of minor issues which I've raised but they have been dealt with satisfactorily. Allergies were catered for. On the whole, I would recommend the nursery to friends.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.214)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.214) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Greenwich Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.940 for Bright Horizons Greenwich Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.94
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.274 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Greenwich Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 number of registered child places is 12.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.574
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
