Tiddlywinks Nursery Group proudly opened its fifth setting in the heart of the Ancoats/Beswick community, offering exceptional early years care and education for children aged four months up to school age. Their aim is simple: to give every child the very best start in life.

At Tiddlywinks Ancoats, they believe that children thrive when parents and practitioners work in true partnership. Together, they create a rich, rewarding, and stimulating experience filled with fun, laughter, and meaningful learning opportunities.

I chose Tiddlywinks for my son after his original nursery closed. He started here just before his second birthday and I wish he'd move sooner! From his very first day I felt that he was safe and cared for and he has been thriving ever since. The staff here listened to our concerns, reassured us and
have supported his development exceptionally. Each and every member of staff has made an effort to get to know us and our child, and it genuinely feels like we're dropping him off with family. I'll be devastated to move on from Tiddlywinks when my son moves to reception.
Reply from Charly Green, Deputy Nursery Manager at Tiddlywinks Nursery AncoatsThank you so much for your lovely review. We're incredibly grateful that you chose Tiddlywinks for your son, especially during what must have been a difficult transition from his previous nursery. Knowing that he felt safe, settled, and cared for from day one means so much to our whole team.
We're delighted to hear how well he has thrived with us, and it's wonderful that you've felt supported, listened to, and reassured throughout his journey. Our staff genuinely love getting to know each child and their family, so your comment about it feeling like dropping him off with family truly means the world.
Although we'll be sad to see him move on to reception, we're proud of the confident, capable little person he has become-and we're honoured to have been part of his early years. Thank you again for your kind words and for being such a valued part of our Tiddlywinks community.

Our daughter has been at Tiddlywinks Ancoats for the past 18 months, starting in the baby room, through the tweenie room, and now into the preschool room. I can honestly say it has been a fantastic experience and our daughter absolutely loves it! She has really come out of her shell here with the support
of staff across all rooms.
At 2.5 years old she knows her numbers from 1-12, understands two languages, speaks well, knows her colours and shapes, and has very good emotional regulation. I feel that the staff at Tiddlywinks have really helped support her growth in all of these areas which is fantastic!. The app is great and is constantly updated throughout the day. The facilities are great, very good food options, and then there are day trips and stay and play sessions where the parents can get involved.
Honestly we couldn't be happier here :)
Reply from Charly Green, Deputy Nursery Manager at Tiddlywinks Nursery AncoatsThank you so much for your wonderful review!
It has been an absolute pleasure watching your little one grow and thrive over the past 18 months-from the baby room, through tweenies, and now into pre-school. Hearing how much confidence she has gained and how well she is progressing in her learning and communication truly means the world to us.
Our team work hard to support every child's development, so your feedback about her language skills, early maths knowledge, emotional regulation, and overall confidence is incredibly appreciated. We're delighted that you feel the app updates, facilities, meals, day trips, and stay & play sessions have all added to your positive experience.
Thank you for being such supportive and engaged parents. We love having your daughter with us and we're so happy to hear you couldn't be happier here

My boys have been at this nursery for 2 and a half years only eldest who is 3 is showing signs of autism I could not thank C enough for everything she has done for my boy she's been his comfort whilst attending always supporting him they've built such a strong bond together which makes me feel so much
at ease as a mother knowing there's somebody who understands him and his needs in a different setting than at home. Not only has she supported my son in the best way but she has also supported myself when I've struggled emotionally and mentally. She's supported me in ways from home life struggles with my sons needs to even supporting which school would be best for my son to go to, she's been there whenever we both have needed her I wouldn't have been able to do anything we've achieved with him so far without her, I will be forever grateful for C and I'm sure my son feels the same at 3 as he always mentions C at home too. Thank you so much C for being our rock.
Reply from Charly Green, Nursery Manager at Tiddlywinks Nursery AncoatsThank you so much for your lovely review. We are truly grateful for your kind words. We have two children in Tiddlywinks Ancoats, attending this nursery since they were babies. The nursery is located in a pleasant green space, with its own large garden and playground. The team is very engaged and enthusiastic, professional and with vast knowledge of children's development processes
and needs. We are very happy with this nursery and the boys enjoy their time there.

My daughter loved to go to this nursery. This was her first nursery ever. She went there for over 16 months and she absolutely loved it, and so did we. Her development was amazing. Her interactions with other children, speech and language progress and even activities that she did - it was all superb.
We were given a full detailed handover at home time every single day.
It's been a month that my daughter has left the nursery because we moved houses and this one is really far now, but there haven't been 2 days in a row when my daughter hasn't mentioned her key worker's name and asked for her. In fact she keeps mentioning multiple people from there. She moved up from Baby room to toddler room and made friends everywhere.
Superbly amazing staff. It was a wonderful experience. You can depend on them to take care of your child and keep them safe.
I also attended a first aid session at the nursery which was very helpful.

My son has a great time at nursery, evidenced by him often running in and is happy to get dropped off. His talking has improved considerably since coming to Tiddlywinks, as has his confidence and social skills. There are always plenty of staff around to look after him, and they all know even if they're
from separate rooms, and he doesn't mind who he is handed over to in the morning. Whenever I attend, they are usually playing in a group, and are often playing outside. There's a wide variety of meals provided, and he is offered food we would not think to offer him at home.

The team at Tiddlywinks Nursery Ancoats are fantastic. My second child has just begun in the baby room and they've been more than welcoming and supportive in getting him settled in. He loves it! I chose this nursery after such a fantastic experience here with my first child and their standards remain
as high as they were then, during the COVID period.
Highly recommend.

We've had the best experience with this nursery my daughter comes here and they have been amazing with her. All the staff are absolutely lovely and will always greet me with smiles on Pick up and drop-offs.
Our son also attended this Nursery one year ago but has some difficulties, we were previously
turned away by another nursery as they said they couldn't tend to his needs. When I got in contact with Tiddlywinks for a possible place for my son I spoke to the manager who assured me that my son was more than welcome at the setting. The Nursery went above and beyond to help him settle in. The staff took the time to understand him and get to know him and his needs, which started to show in his behaviour as he was so happy to attend. He has now moved on to primary school however the staff will always ask how he is.
I can not fault this nursery and all the staff!
Thank you for being amazing with my children and I will continue recommending this setting to all my friends and family.

Can't speak highly enough of the nursery. My daughter was quite upset at first but now skips in. Her development and social skills have come on so well.
Really appreciate that all members of staff learn all the children's names too, even when they work in different classrooms they always make you
feel welcome.

Tiddlywinks is an amazing nursery. My son loves his teachers and they are also very friendly and welcoming. Amazing nursery manager with a good sense of humour. My son started from the baby room, it's amazing how mature he is now, he started being a lot more independent from the activities he partakes
in at the nursery. Delighted to have put him there.

My son is a very clingy and shy person, the nursery staff are really good to him, such that his settling-in process was smooth which I didn't expect to be so easy. All their staff are bubbly and you can tell that they really love the kids and its not just a job to them, they are an amazing bunch. The
only downside is they don't really update on a daily basis what the child has done updates are either not done or they come days or weeks later other than that this nursery is superb and I love how the staff are so dedicated to the kids, as a mum I know they are a good bunch especially when your child comes home and naming and imitating the teachers he has engaged with during the day in a good way and he is looking forward to the next day. Would recommend this setting a thousand times.

This is an amazing nursery with very caring staff. My little boy is very active and they let him express himself and encourage it, which is all part of his learning and development. He settled in really well and the staff are always very welcoming and kind. My only comment would be, there is room for
improvement in their learning, particularly on speech development for the babies, this is an area that could be given a little more attention. Overall, a great a nursery and I will totally recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.842)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.842) out of 10 for Tiddlywinks Nursery Ancoats is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Tiddlywinks Nursery Ancoats is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 204 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tiddlywinks Nursery Ancoats is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
