Tiddlywinks Nursery Group proudly opened its fifth setting in the heart of the Ancoats/Beswick community, offering exceptional early years care and education for children aged four months up to school age. Their aim is simple: to give every child the very best start in life.

At Tiddlywinks Ancoats, they believe that children thrive when parents and practitioners work in true partnership. Together, they create a rich, rewarding, and stimulating experience filled with fun, laughter, and meaningful learning opportunities.

Their nursery ethos focuses on providing a happy, secure, and nurturing environment where every child can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. With three spacious outdoor areas, an enhanced provision throughout the setting, and opportunities for real-world exploration, children are encouraged to investigate, discover, and learn through child-led play.

They offer a wide range of exciting activities designed to ignite curiosity, build independence, and allow children to take safe, calculated risks as they develop confidence in their own abilities. Every child’s unique interests are celebrated and used to shape their learning journey.

Tiddlywinks Ancoats also proudly provides free childcare places for eligible two and three year olds through early years education funding, helping families access high-quality childcare all year round.

My daughter really enjoys coming to the nursery and loves all the staff that work with her. There are always things going on at the nursery for the children to be involved with and the other children that come seem to love it just as much as my daughter.

Since my daughter came to this nursery in July 2016 she has come on so much. She is only 2 and she can count to 12, knows all her colours, recognise most of her numbers and can sing the alphabet.
She is really good at talking and telling me what she wants and is doing really well with her potty training.
This nursery is brilliant and all the girls are excellent at their jobs.
I always feel welcome, it's a lovely setting.

I would highly recommend this nursery. The nursery team was very helpful in making my little boy settle in so fast. My little boy enjoys the nursery very much that when he sees his picture on nursery website he gets excited! Also, the food is tasty and hygienic, that he loves finishing it every day.
His language development and other skills have been significantly improved as we talk our native language in our home, I can see the development. The environment is lovely as well, with a fish tank and other pictures which he loves to touch while arriving and leaving the nursery. Finally, I'm simply amused by seeing most of the nursery staff recognising the names of each child at the nursery!!

Since starting at the nursery over a year ago, my daughter has been made to feel both happy and welcome. The communication between home and nursery is very good and I especially like the use of parentzone and the ability to contribute to my daughter's learning journey.
I am extremely satisfied with
the care given to my daughter.

Very nice and well trained staff. I never had a complaint or concern about anything. I am just happy and thankful that I have people that I trust and who can help me looking after my boy. He is happy to come here every morning.

The staff at Tiddlywinks Day Nursery have been excellent with my son from day one. He settled very quickly with them, clearly because they are all so friendly and welcoming. They all include me in everything he does and the regular parent gatherings allow even more input. The setting is brilliant both
inside and out, the play facilities are excellent and the site is very secure. I would recommend this nursery to anyone.

My daughter started at Tiddlywinks Ancoats May 2015. I was extremely nervous and worried about her going to nursery as I had never needed to use one with my other 3 children. The staff were amazing and my little girl loves going to nursery everyday and has thrived during her time there. I couldn't have
chosen a better place for her to be cared and nurtured whilst I am at work. The staff are always bright and bubbly not just with the children but with us parents too. Its always clean and fresh, even when the children are messy playing. A wonderful nursery and amazing staff. Almost like extended family.

Tiddlywinks is one of the best nurseries I know. Since I started taking my children to Tiddlywinks I cannot complain. The staff are so friendly and very welcoming. Whenever I come to drop my children off to the nursery the staff will always greet you with a smiley face and ask how you are doing. When
leaving they will always see you to the door, they will always accompany you to the door and say goodbye. The nursery is always clean and he children well looked after or well cared for. I am very happy my children attend the nursery.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.759) out of 10 for Tiddlywinks Nursery Ancoats is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.859 for Tiddlywinks Nursery Ancoats is calculated as follows: ( (170 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 191 Ratings = 4.859
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tiddlywinks Nursery Ancoats is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
