The nursery comprises of six thoughtfully designed rooms, which carefully follows the stages of early childhood development, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full learning potential, and is thoughtfully curated with age-appropriate resources that inspire and engage. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

In Wiggly Worms, the youngest babies spend their days immersed in sensory activities, fostering learning and exploration. Building strong relationships is a key focus at this stage, and the caring staff are there to assist both you and your baby in settling into this cosy and welcoming environment.

In Dancing Dragonflies, children are encouraged to develop independence and curiosity. They can climb the indoor climbing frame, engage in free play and tackle puzzles that sharpen their mathematical skills.

In Cheeky Hens and Little Ladybirds, the team foster the development of expression, language and comprehension skills. Creative and imaginative skills flourish through daily play activities tailored to meet the individual learning needs and interests of each child. The team provide ample opportunities for revisiting activities to reinforce learning.

In Busy Bumblebees and Little Green Rascals, under the guidance of experienced Early Years Teacher, children aged three and above embark on a journey toward becoming independent learners who are eager and prepared for school. With free-flow access to the gardens, the children maximise their outdoor time, fostering holistic development.

My son is in the class, Little Ladybirds. He has struggled with his talking for some time and was actually a concern when he had his two year review. The health visitors requested to see him again in 6 weeks to see improvement. After discussing with Little Green Rascals Organic Day Nursery, they put
him on a speech development programme and he has developed dramatically. He now connects whole sentences together and pronounces nearly all letters. We are delighted with his progress and commend Little Green Rascals Organic Day Nursery for their support through this.

Our daughter has moved here recently from another local nursery and she’s settled in very quickly. The variety of activities available to them is fantastic and she gets plenty of time outside which she really enjoys. The food is varied and she appears to enjoy it all! Would highly recommend this nursery

My daughter has been to three nurseries as a result of relocation. Although she couldn’t express this, it was clear that she was not happy at the last one (unlike the first and this one). Since attending LGR, she has clearly returned to her happy self, her confidence has improved and she is developing
well. She never wants to leave LGR in the evenings, she absolutely loves the team and the nursery!

I am so happy my daughter got a place here, she learns so much especially in science tots and she loves telling me all about her day. The staff are all fabulous and so caring towards the children.
I love the forest school as she enjoys being outdoors more than anything, she goes on a fun walk or activity
at least once a week and has already enjoyed a trip to the castle museum. On the occasions when she has been upset all the staff have comforted her and helped to reassure her. The only thing I’m sad about is that she’s only spending a year here before starting school!

We’ve had children at Little Green Rascals for four years now and would never think of using a different nursery. I’m confident that my kids are getting the best care there. The staff are so caring and kind to the children, and friendly and approachable to the parents. The rooms are beautiful and the
toys/surroundings are all high quality and beautifully made. We value the forest school approach and that the children are encouraged to be outside all year round. Thank you LGR for providing such a beautiful caring environment!

I am so, so happy that we picked this nursery for our son. The variety in the activities each day promotes their development. The food on offer is second to none. The atmosphere in the nursery is so calming, caring and fun and the staff really know our son and his personality. Our son has been here
for 4 months so far and I haven't had a single issue. I couldn't recommend it more.

My first impression of the nursery was back in February when my twin granddaughters joined Little Green Rascals. The staff were very friendly and the environment was so child-friendly (not necessarily seen in some nurseries).


As my grandchildren have become used to this environment I have seen such

a difference in them both. They now interact more easily with friends and family who they don’t see often. Their relationship with the associated nursery staff is such that they appear to enjoy their days there.


I could not be more pleased with their development in such a relatively short time. This is down to the attention that is afforded them while they are in your care.


I look forward to seeing them grow in character and emotional intelligence.

My daughter has been attending the full-time sessions (5 days a week) for more than a year now. I do not have words to say how happy she is in the nursery. At the beginning it was hard, but the staff (every single girl), they are amazing! You can say they work as a team and look after all the babies/toddlers.
Every day is planned and the toddlers really enjoy their day. in addition, they can have extra curriculum lessons. Very happy with the nursery so far!

The review has been provided for a member of staff who works in the pre-school room. She clearly has a wealth of experience working with children. She is able to adapt her style and communication techniques to get the best out of the children. She is passionate about their development and this clearly
shows. She gets to know each child really well, understanding their likes/dislikes to get the best out of them and encourage them. She has a very warm personable and engaging personality. I can always rely on her to provide me with updates/my child's development etc. I feel assured my child is safe in her care. I cannot praise or recommend her enough and my daughter adores her.

I honestly couldn't wish for a better standard of nursery for my two boys to attend. The staff here are fantastic and care for my children in the best possible way. The facilities are brilliant, extra activities such as Forest School and French classes. It really is fantastic. Would recommend without

This nursery is excellent and my little boy has blossomed and gained in confidence because of his experience at Little Green Rascals. The staff are kind and caring, the facilities conducive to learning and the food is good quality and nutritious. Even if I were not working I would send my son here for

I found the transition back to work a lot easier with the help of all the staff ay my son's nursery, he settled well and quickly with the help of his key worker. They are a lovely team who have lots of different activities for the children to play and learn with. They have lots of outdoor areas for
the children to play in. The staff made me feel happy with my choice of nursery as nothing is too much. My son is always happy to be left and that's a massive bonus for me.

It's no surprise that this is one of the most sought after nurseries in York. The setting is absolutely fantastic, the staff genuinely care about the children and the focus on enjoyment and development is commendable. As a parent, I find it totally reassuring that my child's key worker is focused on
her overall well-being and her development has been astounding over the last few months - evidence of the wonderful range of activities undertaken by the staff. We love Little Green Rascals!

Little Green Rascals has provided fantastic care to both my 3-year-old son and my 11-month-old daughter. Staff are well qualified, attentive to detail and take a personal interest in each child they are in contact with. We have encountered lots of key workers as our children have moved through the rooms.
Each one has been equally caring and competent and always without complaint.

We are extremely happy with Little Green Rascals. My little girl has been there since she was 12 months, she's now 3 years old and in the Busy Bumble Bee's room. The nursery offers her so many opportunities to play and learn getting lots of outdoor time. She is currently enjoying Forest school yoga
and Ballet lessons, but there are even more options to choose from such as French, Spanish, Rugby etc. My daughter's key person knows her inside out and she has documented a fantastic record of her development and learning plan. There is always a clear topic for the week 1 month etc with lots of fun activities based around this. For example Chinese New Year, the weather etc. The nursery has always been very focused on treating my daughter as an individual especially when it comes to room transitions and selecting her key person. The food is brilliant, all freshly prepared, organic meals with lots of variety. Overall we thoroughly recommend Little Green Rascals and we are happy to have both our children at the nursery.


My little boy has been at Little Green Rascals for 4 months now and he absolutely loves it! He is in wiggly worms! The baby room is fantastic - a real home from home. The wiggly worms team totally understand what it feels like for you to leave your baby in a new environment and really tailor the settling in period to your baby. My little boy has a rare medical condition and the whole team has undertaken training with a local medical professional to understand this better and look after him. His key person has been especially proactive in learning about this and monitoring his progress. His key person is always keen to find out what he has been up to at home and vice versa, what he has been up to at nursery! He has a broad range of fun learning experiences and has come on leaps and bounds since joining. We are very pleased and highly recommend Little Green Rascals.
