Banana Moon Day Nursery Harbury is a thriving, village based, family owned nursery, that prides itself at being at the heart of this exceptional village community.

In a caring and loving environment, children experience a wide range of learning initiatives, including messy and sensory play, with a strong focus on interacting with the outside world. The approach is to closely respond to children's interests, which has seen the arrival of a full size fork lift truck as part of a construction project, and the teaching of pizza making and basic Italian lessons as part of a multi-cultural project.

The passionate, experienced and caring team provides a safe and loving environment for children aged three months to five years. There are three rooms - under two's, toddlers and preschool. The nursery is open from 7.30am to 6.30pm for 51 weeks of the year, offering full day and half day sessions (7.30-1 or 1-6.30)

CCTV is installed in all rooms and operate a biometric finger print entry system, ensuring the safety of the children. The nursery offers two home-cooked hot meals each day.

My son has been attending the nursery for 3 years, in which time we’ve watched how he has developed strong friendships with staff and children. He thoroughly enjoys his time at the nursery and it’s been lovely to see how the staff tailor his learning to his interests, making learning fun. For instance
making an outdoor marble run, which helps with communication, sharing and teamwork. The meals provided are fantastic and reassuring to hear first hand from my son how scrumptious they are.
If ever we needed to liaise with the management there was always someone on hand to ask or super fast response via email when out of hours.

The staff at Banana Moon provide very personalised service to both parents and child with extensive daily briefs on our child's activity and behaviour. They always make an effort to cater for her needs and ours, which makes us as parents feel her care is almost exclusive within the nursery.

We have been very happy with Banana Moon Harbury, from babies room through to preschool, for 2 of our children. The staff are excellent, and go above and beyond to give the children a happy learning environment. The management really try to help where they can with being flexible with childcare hours
for life’s unforeseen scheduling dramas, eg hospital visits with other family members! The food is excellent and my children eat more there than they do at home, I need their meal ideas! We really are very happy with every aspect of this fabulous nursery.

Our daughter has been attending Banana Moon nursery since March 2017 (she turned 2 that following June). When she first started her speech was somewhat a concern to us and mainly babbled nonsense to communicate with people. We noticed instantly the improvement in her speech. Our daughter has come on
leaps and bounds thanks to the amazing staff at Banana Moon. She is a happy go lucky little girl very chatty (with full sentences!) and entertaining to all. The feedback that we get from all the staff about our daughter is always heartwarming and the positive comments that we get is in part a reflection on what a great experience our daughter is having at Banana Moon. My son started Banana Moon Day Nursery Harbury last September. The staff have been fantastic in helping him to adjust to the change in his routine. He really enjoys his days at nursery and I have no doubt it is down to the care and attention of the staff. All of the ladies in the Baby room know my son
and his little ways. He has the opportunity to complete many different activities and is thriving. Can’t recommend it enough.

Banana Moon Harbury is excellent. So much care, attention and thought is put towards our children and us as families. My youngest currently attends and loves it. He has progressed so much already. My daughter left in August this year and flourished during her time. I only wish it had been open earlier
so that my oldest son could have attended. Couldn't recommend it more.

Banana Moon in Harbury is a great nursery which my daughter attends 3 full days a week. The staff are lovely and I always feel I know what has happened throughout the day with her with how they keep us informed at the end of each day. My daughter loves going and has not cried once when we have left
her there!

The first thing for you to know is that I am a mum to two young children; a daughter Millie and son, Ted.
As a parent having already researched an awful lot of nurseries for my daughter, and found one that I loved (the very first Banana Moon!) I had a firm idea of what I was looking to achieve when I opened my own nursery. I wanted a loving, caring, educational and fun environment for children, and importantly, a nursery that was at the heart of its community.
I spent over a year looking for the right space for the nursery, and were thrilled when I secured this building. I was lucky to be able to approach the design with a blank sheet of paper, meaning every element of the nursery has been thought through by me, from a parent point of view, and the children. The physics of the nursery structure are only part of the story however. For me, far more important is striking the right atmosphere; one of love and inspiration.
With the emphasis at Banana Moon to see everything from a child’s point of view; every stage of your child’s development, quality of care and learning will be to the highest standards. It is with this in mind that I have recruited an extremely experienced and well qualified team, all of whom are extremely passionate about working with children.
I well remember the emotional rollercoaster that I went through when I first looked for a nursery for my daughter. Everything I do at the nursery is in light of my experience as a parent, and most importantly the nursery has to be of the highest standard that I am happy enough for both of my children to attend.

Elizabeth Humphreys

I have worked in childcare for 21 years, covering a wide range of roles and positions in establishments such as private schools, day nurseries and as a private nanny. I have worked my way up from a nursery nurse into senior positions before taking on management roles. The roles I have taken have helped shape my experiences and given me a wealth of knowledge which I share with my staff team, helping and supporting best practice.
To further extend my knowledge I undertook my degree in Early Childhood Studies with the Open University, qualifying in 2013. This has led me to understand and lead on a wide range of pedagogical approaches and support, not just the children in my care, but also my staff. I am extremely passionate and committed in my role as a practitioner and Manager and I aim to lead by example to give all children the best start in life alongside mentoring and supporting my team.
My goal is to create a setting that cares for and nurtures children, parents and staff. My door is always open for everyone.
Outside of work I love cooking and listening to music, but my biggest passion is reading. I can get lost for hours in a good book......any recommendations welcome!!
