First Class Nursery provides high-quality, integrated and flexible day care for babies, toddlers and pre-school children, close by to Huddersfield town centre.

Highly trained and experienced staff provide a wide range of stimulating and educational activities linked to the EYFS curriculum. The staff encourage and support all children to achieve their full potential, actively promoting the development of positive self-image within each child.

Children are given lots of opportunity to get creative in the outdoors, with woodwork, loose parts play and caring for the fruit and vegetables which are grown every year.

First Class has embedded the curiosity approach, where modern toys and technology are removed from the learning environment and replaced with everyday items to encourage children's natural curiosity and eagerness to explore and create.

First Class Nursery menus are planned in house and children, parents and staff are actively involved in this process. Good quality, fresh, wholesome ingredients are used to prepare meals. The nursery supports local suppliers where reasonably practical and cater for a variety of special diets. Nursery currently holds a Food For Life Early Years Award and continue to follow the Food for life ethos.

The nursery work in close partnership with parents and carers, maintaining strong, open and honest working relationships and good communication through regular newsletters, email updates, parents zone electronic journal, child's learning journals that can be accessed in the child's room and also parents evenings.

Morning session - 7:30am - 12:30pm / Afternoon session - 1:00pm - 6:00pm. They offer 15 Hours funding for two and three year olds and 30 hours funding for 3-4 year olds.
Fully Funded 30 hours places are subject to a sundries charge of £1.50 per hour

Both my children have attended first class nursery and we could not ask for a better childcare setting.


The staff are welcoming, friendly, professional and always on hand to answer any questions or support with anything we need.


Both my children are very different, yet both thoroughly enjoy the

nursery, staff and settled in amazingly. My youngest constantly asks to go to nursery on days she doesn't even attend!


The setting have been incredibly supportive with the demands of working and accommodating childcare and I have never felt worried about them attending.


I recommend first class to friends and family and wouldn't hesitate to chose them again.

First class staff members are exceptional, they truly care about the children in terms of their needs and development activities. My child had developed a very strong and secure attachment with the staff members, which is so heartwarming to see. The staff members are so thoughtful and caring, they even
helped make a special birthday card for me, just at the slight mention of my birthday coming up in conversation. Now this was a lovely surprise to open up! This meant the world to me ! It's all the little things they do that show how amazing the nursery is, definitely the best choice we made for our child. She had developed so much more since starting nursery to now!

I couldn't rate this nursery any higher. Our little boy is currently in the baby room. All the staff are so caring and dedicated. I was very nervous about sending my boy to any nursery but he couldn't be any happier at first class! They keep me updated regularly using the app which gives me a peace
of mind. He made a connection with all the staff so quickly which shows how good they really are! I am so grateful for this nursery , they have made my transition back to work a breeze! I will definitely be sending all my children here as it truly is faultless!

My little girl has been attending the baby room for the past year now almost. She is coming up to 2 years old and getting ready to move into the next room.
I cannot praise all of the baby room staff enough, honestly, they are caring, kind and so brilliant with all the babies. The activities they do
every day is just exceptional. It makes my heart melt every time I drop my little girl off because she is developing socially and emotionally and building important relationships that the nursery itself actively promote.


Generally managers and other staff members have also shown the same caring nature to our family circumstances and go that extra mile to support you as a family unit.


Hats off to the chef as well who does an incredible job of preparing and cooking healthy, well balanced meals for all the children at first class nursery.


It truly is a first class nursery!

First class nursery provide everything my daughter needs. They have a huge variety of foods and do a brilliant job catering for her milk allergy.

First Class Nursery has been an amazing place for my daughter. The staff are incredibly friendly, caring, and welcoming, which made the settling-in process so easy for both my child and me. Communication is excellent - I receive daily updates about my daughter's progress, activities, and development,
which gives me real peace of mind.
The learning environment is engaging and well-structured, with a great variety of activities that support both educational and social development. I have two boys at this nursery and they are amazing with them. They have both come on leaps and bounds. They do some really fun activities and make learning fun. The added extras for special occasions like mothers/fathers day and religious celebrations all add to what an amazing place this is for children.
I can't thank them enough for taking care of my babies while I work.

Great staff and nursery, my child has been going since 9 months and enjoys attending twice a week, he is now 3. Nice play area and lots of different activities each day.

As a new mother who has moved from another city. It was a really big decision when it came to nurseries as I wasn't familiar with the location and didn't know a lot of people around to ask. I was recommended this nursery for my then 12 months old and honestly I've made the best decision ever. The nursery
is outstanding in all aspects whether it's staff, managers, food, care for children etc it's perfect I can't fault it. The living example is that my toddler settled in so quickly that few months down the line (now) she runs into nursery to her key person and there's no tears on drop off or collection. She eats most or all of her food and brings me her shoes when it's time to go nursery and runs to the front door. As parents who work full time this is peace of mind for us and it tells us that our child is very happy going to nursery. I recommend this nursery to all the mums that I know are looking to put their children in nursery. Thank you to all the staff and managers.

Overall experience with the nursery has been exemption and I like how my child's key worker pays attention to his development, behaviour and activities. The nursery's admin has also been very supportive and the overall staff are amazing.

My little boy loves going here, I know he's in great hands of staff that care for him. The food is varied too so he gets to try new foods there and I enjoy hearing about his day there. My older son used to attend too and they remember him and ask about him.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2018

My Name is Laura, I am the Nursery Manager at First Class.


I qualified in 2010 with BTEC Level 3 in childcare. I then went on to complete my degree in BA (Hons) Early Years with professional studies and QTS. I graduated in 2015 with a 2:1.


I started working at First Class in 2018 as a nursery practitioner and then was promoted to senior practitioner in 2019. From then, I remained a Pre-School senior until I was promoted to deputy manager in 2022. I have recently been promoted to nursery manager.


I am now mainly based in the office but I like to go into the rooms to help out when needed and at dinner times. I love my job and I’m passionate about working with children. I am told by my colleagues that I am kind, and always willing to listen and help. Goes above and beyond in my role as a manager.


My other roles within the nursery are safeguarding officer and health and safety officer. I have carried out many training courses including EYFS, food hygiene, First Aid, behaviour management and Mental Health First Aid.

I've worked at First Class since 2013.


I have worked in all the rooms in the nursery as a practitioner and also as a senior, I then became deputy manager in 2016.


In 2018 I completed a BA in Early Years.


I have been on many training courses including behaviour management, health and safety, food hygiene and first aid.


I've been told I am a funny, caring enthusiastic member of the team. I love working with children and I love to work with all age groups at First Class.
