Ofsted rating for Co-op's Sussex Nursery is Outstanding (July 2023)

At Co-op Childcare Sussex they stay engaged with lots of activities from bike school to PE lessons to phonics activities. There's lots of diverse ways for your child to stay engaged and learn at their nursery. They also encourage children with brothers or sisters at nursery to take part in 'Sibling Diaries', a chance for siblings to spend time together and for nursery practitioners to share their experiences with parents/carers.

They have an app called ParentZone which will keep all parents/carers updated on how their little one is getting on, from photos of their day, meals eaten and assessments.

They are big on safety which is why all their staff are paediatric first aid trained and they have 5 Little Pioneers who help to share the Co-op Childcare's core values with their children.

They also have growing areas for food which they also eat as well as having regular visits to their local care home.

At Co-op Childcare Sussex, they house 5 spacious rooms catering for children from 3 months - 5 years with the latest technology, including interactive whiteboards and age-appropriate resources. Outside it has an adventure garden with tunnels, water play, slides, bike tracks and planting area.

The facilities at this nursery are outstanding! The outdoor play park is phenomenal and there is even a separate, smaller one for the babies.

My little girl loves the outdoor space but also gets time to develop her learning skills.

Kind and attentive staff have looked after her well.

Our daughter always came home very happy and content. She seemed to very much enjoy her time in the nursery and is looking forward to attending again. It seemed the meals were very nutritious and filling and that she felt very safe.

My son went to the Falmer Co-Op Nursery for just a few months as a pre-schooler and he absolutely flourished there.
The venue is brand new, light, and spacious. It is welcoming. The landscaped garden is amazing for the children to run around and play in.
The meals are balanced and healthy; children
are well fed throughout the day.
Last but not least, the staff is absolutely fabulous. Each individual is approachable, caring, dynamic and engaging. Under their encouragement and care, my somewhat shy little boy really came out of his shell. He learnt lots of new skills, had a great deal of fun, and generally grew more social and more confident.
At first, he didn't want to go at all, but in the end, he wanted to go every day, weekends included!
As a parent, I felt confident that my son was well looked after and cared for by professional and committed people who showed him respect, who continuously encouraged him, and made his days there so much fun.

My child has attended the nursery from age 20 months to age 4. He is now leaving to attend school. During his time at nursery, he has been very well looked after and loved by the staff. He has always felt safe and happy at nursery and his care has been exceptional. The environment has been very emotionally
nurturing and this has been the most important aspect to me.
Some of the Co-op rules about not assisting children's artwork etc are very odd and I didn't particularly agree with this, although my child didn't notice and was largely unaffected and staff took on board my comments.

This nursery and the staff is the warmest educational institution i have ever been to. Not only is it beautiful structurally, the gardens, the foyer for relaxing, the spacious, fantastically designed classes, the nursery is beautiful psychologically. Need i say more? My only regret is that i do not
have sufficient funds to have my two children in full time every week day!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.894)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.894) out of 10 for Co-op Childcare Sussex is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.978 for Co-op Childcare Sussex is calculated as follows: ( (223 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 228 Ratings = 4.978
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.916 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Co-op Childcare Sussex is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 101 number of registered child places is 20.2. 19 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.2 = 0.941
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
