Children 1st Rosemary Lane Nursery School is a newly refurbished nursery building in a great city centre location in Lincoln. The setting is rated 'Good' by Ofsted (January 2022).

Children 1st carried out an extensive refurbishment to create a new nursery over three floors, complete with a huge outdoor space for children to enjoy. The nursery features a dedicated baby suite complete with its own outside space and innovate environments for children to enjoy.

Downstairs houses a large, well equipped indoor and outdoor space for two to five-year-olds, as shown in the photos.

All ages spend time in the large garden, with lots of resources for play and learning.

The team includes a nursery cook who prepares home cooked meals and caters for special dietary requirements.

My daughter has been attending Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane Day Nursery since June 2021. She loves going! All of the staff are extremely friendly and so lovely!
I've been extremely lucky as a parent that me and my husband have never had the stress/worry of any concerns surrounding our daughter's childcare
and that's all down to the wonderful staff at Rosemary Lane.
They're super personable and all say hi/goodbye when picking up and dropping off our daughter even if she's not in their rooms.
We had childcare sorted before we learnt about Rosemary Lane and decided to switch after a virtual visit (during Covid) and a visit before our daughter started. Was the best thing we did!

My child has been attending this nursery since 2020 and it is an outstanding childcare setting! The staff are brilliant, caring, well trained and cater to the individual needs of each child.
The facilities/toys/equipment are brilliant, diverse and well looked after. I am particularly impressed with
the garden which provides lots of opportunities for imaginative play and my child really enjoys playing in toy town and the mud hut.
I would highly recommend this nursery.

My son has been going to Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane Day Nursery since Benjamin bunnies' room. I have found the staff to be supportive, knowledgeable and many have made meaningful connections with my son enabling him to settle well and thrive within the nursery setting. Daily communication is excellent
and the level of care and support he receives is excellent. Their ethos is lovely, lots of time outside, lots of play and lots of encouragement within the early years' foundation stages for growth.

My child has been attending the nursery since September 2021. I was apprehensive as, even though she’d been in a nursery setting before, she had been out of a nursery setting for around four months and her routine was completely on its head!
Since starting at the nursery her confidence has blossomed,
her speech has improved massively and overall she loves going to nursery! The nursery are so supportive and if I need any advice or support, nothing appears to be too much trouble.
The meals seem to be popular with my child, she never comes home hungry, although will have a snack tea just before bed.
Overall I cannot praise this nursery enough for everything they have done.

My daughter absolutely loves going to Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane Day Nursery, she can be a little shy with new people but it took her no time at all to settle into this nursery.
She gets so excited when she sees the staff in the morning and can’t wait to go in and play with her little friends. Very

I was so nervous sending our first child to nursery after a year at home (also during the peak of Covid!). I couldn't have hoped for better support than we received from Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane Day Nursery. The staff are wonderful, genuinely passionate and my daughter loves them (lots of mentions

After the pandemic, I was extremely nervous about returning to work and finding a nursery for our 2-year-old to attend. Due to the numerous lockdowns, our daughter was understandably nervous around new people, which heightened our anxiety around finding a nursery. It is safe to say there was no need
to worry. Our daughter absolutely loves Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane and has done since her first taster session! She talks about nursery every day (even though she only attends two afternoons per week), she absolutely loves the staff, their story corner, dancing in the forest, playing in the garden, going down the slide, hiding in the ball pool, the list is endless!
The staff have gone above and beyond to ensure any worries have been eased, and we could not be more grateful. Thank goodness we found you!

Our daughter has been with Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane since September last year, and we are so happy we chose for her to go there.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. We feel so safe leaving our daughter with them. She has so much with all the activities and games they do throughout the day.
The on-site chef makes an incredible range of food at mealtimes making sure she gets all of her five a day and more. We are kept updated daily with their online log with what’s she’s done, what she’s eaten, how long she’s napped for and some great pictures too. She’s come on so well since starting nursery, as soon as she’s at the gate, she waves bye-bye to us and goes off with the staff. To see her so comfortable and excited to go into nursery really made it easy for us when she started.
Best nursery in the area.

My child has been at Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane for almost a year now. We were very nervous and worried initially about finding the right place for her. We need never worry, she loves her days at the nursery - we recently booked her on another day, she loves it so much. All the staff are great, helpful
and super caring. One of the staff, in particular, gets our daughter to sleep much better than even we can - thinks she's a magician!
10/10 nursery!

We are beyond delighted with our chosen nursery. Our son comes from a same-sex family (two mothers) and the staff have gone out of their way to embrace his different family dynamic.
On top of this, the nursery staff have gone out of their way to work with us on flexibility when needing to add days
last minute. Cannot recommend this nursery highly enough!

Myself and my partner were both very nervous about leaving our son for the first time due to returning back to work. He is at the beginning of his journey with Children 1st Rosemary Lane (baby room) and instantly we were both put at ease and knew the care he receives is next to none. There are different
activities everyday and watching him progress and develop through the help of the staff is amazing. Couldn’t recommend this nursery enough! Amazing work.

My wife and I cannot express how grateful we are to the staff at Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane, especially the ladies in the Jemima/Bobtail room. Our daughter is now full-time and returned just after lockdown and as you can imagine, the worry and anxiety both myself and my wife felt at this scary time
and that our daughter had never been without myself or my wife, so how she would cope/settle was also a big worry. Well, 3 months later and what can I say? She is so confident and happy at the nursery. Her bond with all the staff is great and the bond with her key worker is like she is now part of our family and we are so overwhelmed by this and how much she has developed so far. We are truly grateful and can't thank the nursery enough.

I would recommend Rosemary Lane nursery to anyone. The staff took my girls in during lockdown in March when their other nursery closed, and we decided to stay permanently because they take such brilliant care of the children. We really feel that the staff love our girls, and see their unique personalities
and nurture their gifts and interests. They seem to strike the balance between caring for and teaching, and that’s a hard thing to do. The fact that our girls settled in so quickly is a testament to the staff and their attitudes. Not only have they been brilliant with our children, but they have been brilliant with us as well! It was traumatic having to move the girls to a nursery we knew nothing about, and the staff graciously answered our 1001 questions to make us feel happy to leave the girls in their care. You won’t find a better place to send your children.

I was really worried about returning to work and putting my little girl in nursery at nine months old but I honestly couldn't praise this nursery enough. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and you can tell they really do love what they do and all the children they look after. My girl is always
happy to leave me at the gate. I'm always informed of how her days have gone and received a daily diary of what she's eaten, what's she's been up to, how much she's had to drink and how long and when she's slept. The food menu is on a four-week rotation and of a good variety. The activities and experiences throughout the day without a doubt have brought my girls' development on leaps and bounds in such a short space of time and she thoroughly enjoys her time there.

I was so nervous leaving my three-month-old at Nursery, it felt far too soon but the nursery from day one have been so polite, friendly and reassuring. They have also always been very prompt in answering any queries I may have had. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been very professional following
all guidelines and wearing face coverings which has been reassuring. I know for certain that being at this nursery will help my son’s development to blossom and they have so much to offer for him. I definitely chose the right nursery for my little bundle of joy.

My little boys love it at this nursery. The staff are very engaging and he always comes home having had a great day. The facilities are excellent. The meals that are served are varied and nutritious. The staff are extremely friendly and approachable. I would not send my little boy to any other nursery

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

Hello, I’m Louisa, the Nursery Manager at Rosemary Lane. I’ve worked in Early Years for over 20 years, and my journey began as a newly qualified practitioner after completing my training at Lincoln College. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of developing my career within Children 1st, and for more than a decade now, I’ve proudly led the wonderful team here at Rosemary Lane.


One of the things I love most about our nursery is the sense of community we’ve created and our fantastic outdoor space — a real hidden gem for an inner-city setting. It’s a joy to welcome new families, showing them around and sharing the exciting experiences we offer the children every day.


I’m incredibly proud of my team; they’re passionate, nurturing, and committed to providing a safe, stimulating environment where children can thrive. I’d be delighted to show you around our nursery and talk about how we can support your child on their early years journey.
