At My Ohana York, child carers work together with David Lloyd to offer a unique solution to the challenge of finding caring, safe and stimulating childcare. The nursery combines the high standards of loving care you’d expect from My Ohana together with the fantastic facilities and expertise of David Lloyd coaches in integrating active play and exercise into your child’s day.
My Ohana is based across four different rooms. Poppies is for under ones and the staff ratio is 1:3, Buttercups is for children aged one year old up to two years old and the ratio in this room is also 1:3. When children turn two they move into the Bluebells room where the ratio changes to 1:4 and from there they move into Sunflowers room at three years old and the ratio is 1:8.
Through individual observation and planning, carers meet the educational and social needs of all the children. My Ohana know how important parent partnership is, and work to ensure effective communication with all parents, through parent evenings, newsletters, daily verbal feedback, event days and emails.
The nursery provides a variety of extracurricular activities and stimulating resources to ensure that all children are achieving their full potential. The staff encourage children to be healthy with nutritious menus and endeavour to keep high standards of health and safety throughout the setting. My Ohana York promote equal opportunities and diversity as governed by standards and guidelines.

My grandson has been attending for over 18 months now. He goes in happily every morning and he really enjoys his time at nursery. It's clear to see all his needs are met to a high standard. All the staff do an amazing job.

My little girl attends My Ohana Nursery 1 day a week, she started in Poppies the baby room in April 2024, she has since moved up to the Buttercups toddler room. I get regular updates throughout the day of what my little girl has been up to, what she has eaten, slept and her nappies. I also get to see where she is in her development too. All the staff in the setting are so welcoming, loving and kind. The nursery manager and assistant manager are amazing if you have any queries or problems they are more than happy to help.
I would recommend this nursery to anyone who is looking for childcare. I'm so happy my little girl goes to this nursery, she loves all the staff and goes in running in the morning.

I’ve always found our My Ohana York Nursery nursery and their team to be welcoming, approachable and friendly! Last year, (April 2023), I was expecting a baby. The nursery was fantastic at this stage and had a little doll for my son to play with, preparing my son for becoming a big brother and preparing him as much as possible for the arrival of a baby in the house, which is a massive change for a toddler who’s just turned 2! The nursery and its team were fantastic and I definitely feel this helped him with the huge transition of becoming a big brother. He was actually at nursery the day I had my daughter so he attended nursery that day and returned home as big brother, the team had prepared my son for this and it definitely made the welcome home a lot easier for all of us. My son loves going to nursery. When we go and collect him in the evening he’s always busy playing and has a smile on his face!
I would definitely recommend My Ohana York Nursery to anyone.

My child loves coming into nursery every day after a rocky start at a previous nursery. The staff have been great at helping him to get settled and are getting to know his interests and stages of development really well. The nursery is a welcoming environment and all of the staff are so friendly, everyone greets him with a smile and enthusiasm. Staff are great at providing brief updates during the day (not too many or few). The children get regular time outside and the activities indoors are varied.

My son has been going to My Ohana for nearly two years and I can honestly say it is the best setting. As a military family, we move on a regular basis so finding a suitable setting can be hard. My Ohana is the best setting we have ever used, I only wish that my eldest could have attended here when he was younger. The staff are amazing, it is a home-from-home setting and my son gets excited each day to go. They are always doing something fun, be it painting, small world, messy play etc. Stretch and Grow is his favourite activity. I was recently told that for his age he is advanced in so many areas and I can only say that it is from the hard-working and caring staff. The regular updates via the app are brilliant as I can see what he has been up to and eaten during the day, not only is this reassuring but also helps us plan any evening meals/snacks required and any changes into bedtime routines.
Each time we have new families arrive in our military area I highly recommend they visit.

I took a long maternity leave (16 months) and really struggled with the idea of leaving my daughter with anyone other than my husband. The transition back to work was hard for me and I missed her so much. The staff were so understanding and really looked after my daughter (and me!) through the transition, allowing me to gently integrate her into her (and my) new routine, they kept me updated on the app so I still felt a part of her day and connected plus always have time for me at the start and the end of the day to chat about her and her activities. The manager and room leader are absolutely wonderful, I know my daughter is in kind, caring hands and also helping her develop well. I love the fact she gets plenty of outdoor time too!

My daughter has been at the nursery since she was nine months old and she has loved every second! My daughter has a fantastic key worker, helping her progress at every stage of her development. The nursery is bright and wonderful. Both of my children have attended the nursery from the baby room, with my son now at school. My daughter remains at the nursery, and the staff are always so caring, supportive, friendly and always have the best interests of the children at heart. My daughter suffers from hearing loss in one ear and has a hearing aid. The staff have been so amazing and supportive with my daughter, and so adaptive to her needs.
They do great activities and prepare children for school. The nursery also celebrate the cultures of the children within the nursery and around the world which is great. The nursery uses an app which is really good throughout the day, to see how your children are doing especially when a bit smaller.

My daughter is 3 and has attended here since 11 months old. She has gotten on well with all the staff in each room as she has progressed. She missed a fair bit of time due to lockdown as did many others but nursery handled it all really well and kept all the parents informed at every step and the weekly social media story time was a definite winner in our house.
The pricing is very reasonable in comparison to other nurseries in the area. The children are clearly well entertained all day long and my daughter is always worn out when she gets home.

My little boy has been at this nursery for the last year. He has absolutely flourished in that time because of the dedication of the staff. They are all very encouraging and he is always surprising us with new things he has clearly learned at nursery - just this week he has read every number in a book at home correctly from 1 to 10 at 23 months old, we couldn't believe it! He has a fantastic bond with the staff and will happily run into the nursery with a wave and a smile. The rooms have lovely and interesting resources which he loves to explore and we get frequent updates throughout the day on the parent app including pictures of him enjoying himself. The nursery has also been really good at accommodating all his needs, he has food allergies and has to have medication at nursery and I never have any worries about that as they are completely on top of it. They always go over and above our expectations and I recommend them to everyone.

Our son has attended this nursery for the last four years, and we have been so happy with his care there. It is an outstanding nursery where staff are dedicated, friendly and supportive on all levels. The care, attention and learning experience he has had there has been exceptional.
Activities are varied including stretch and grow, yoga and swimming as well as lots of creative activities. Staff went above and beyond during lockdown organising a private Facebook group where games, activities and daily story readings were uploaded and a weekly Zoom call for all children. The arrangements for returning were exceptionally well planned and communicated with clear empathy for the change children have been through. As a parent, it has been invaluable to have a place where I know my child is so well looked after, and I would strongly recommend this nursery to others.
