At My Ohana York, child carers work together with David Lloyd to offer a unique solution to the challenge of finding caring, safe and stimulating childcare. The nursery combines the high standards of loving care you’d expect from My Ohana together with the fantastic facilities and expertise of David Lloyd coaches in integrating active play and exercise into your child’s day.
My Ohana is based across four different rooms. Poppies is for under ones and the staff ratio is 1:3, Buttercups is for children aged one year old up to two years old and the ratio in this room is also 1:3. When children turn two they move into the Bluebells room where the ratio changes to 1:4 and from there they move into Sunflowers room at three years old and the ratio is 1:8.
Through individual observation and planning, carers meet the educational and social needs of all the children. My Ohana know how important parent partnership is, and work to ensure effective communication with all parents, through parent evenings, newsletters, daily verbal feedback, event days and emails.
The nursery provides a variety of extracurricular activities and stimulating resources to ensure that all children are achieving their full potential. The staff encourage children to be healthy with nutritious menus and endeavour to keep high standards of health and safety throughout the setting. My Ohana York promote equal opportunities and diversity as governed by standards and guidelines.

The staff at Ohana nursery have been fantastic with Rowan, at times he has been challenging and they have dealt with it so well. Liz and Zita have been amazing at helping him with his education and behavioural skills and regularly give us valuable feedback. He is always so happy to goto Nursery and expresses how much of a good time he has had when I pick him up.
I think this time at Ohana has been absolutely essential to him developing his social skills and improving his behaviours. Rowan is a better and happier child for being there, and looking forward to seeing how he develops further in the next year.

Our son has attended this nursery since he was 12 months old and has always been incredibly happy and settled. You can genuinely tell the staff care about the children and enjoy spending their days with them. There is a lovely family feel, with staff knowing every child by name, even if they don't work directly in their room.
We've been particularly impressed by the emphasis on learning and development alongside providing a warm and caring environment. Our son has grown enormously in confidence, both personally and socially, and the staff actively work with him on important skills such as sharing, taking turns, communication and interacting with others. There is clearly a lot of thought behind the activities they provide and he is constantly learning through play.
He has allergies and the staff are excellent at ensuring he is cared for appropriately. We also appreciate the familiar staff who have known him since he was very small. Quite often he doesn't want to leave when we collect

We're especially pleased to hear how much his confidence, communication and social skills have developed. Creating opportunities for children to learn through play, while supporting their individual development and interests, is such an important part of what we do.

My son has had a brilliant time at My Ohana since he started aged 9 months. He's always had a lovely connection with the staff and is very happy to go in every day. He loves the activities that are provided - including several different child-focused programs, and always eats well! We recently potty trained and everyone at My Ohana helped support our approach which made the whole process so much easier for him. Communication with parents is excellent, both through the App and at pick up and drop off. They make great use of the outside space in all weathers and are always encouraging my son in anything he is interested in.

Our daughter joined My Ohana from another setting in January 2026. The team at My Ohana have worked really hard to help her settle in and after only a small number of sessions our daughter was happy to attend nursery. She has formed strong bonds with the My Ohana team and some other children and we're kept up to date with her day to day activities through the use of the app as well as a full debrief from the My Ohana team when collecting her. Activities seem to be varied and our daughter has had some noticeable developments since attending.

We couldn't be happier with our experience at this nursery. From day one (nearly2.5 years ago!), the staff have been warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. Their experience really shows - our little one settled in so quickly and is always happy and smiling at drop-off and pick-up. The care and attention given to her is admirable. It's clear that the team genuinely love what they do, and it creates such a nurturing, safe, and fun environment. Communication is great too - we're always kept in the loop (love their app) and love keeping tabs about our child's day and play.
Our child is thriving here - calm, confident, and happy. We're so grateful to have found such a special place. The manager & her entire team are doing a terrific job at helping to bring up the tiny tots. A five-star nursery - highly recommended!

We appreciate your feedback on our setting. Upon reflection with the team I would like to reassure you that your daughter did enjoy her time with us , albeit short she was happy. Due to the structure of our setting and the number of children we do care for, it is important to have a set routine so it allows the children time to play and time to sit and enjoy mealtimes. Health and safety is paramount during the nursery day as we have a large number of children in our preschool room . All our team members have recent and updated behaviour management training , which is regularly reviewed and monitored by senior colleagues. During our recent OFSTED inspection we were highly praised on the behaviour management skills. We update our parentzone app generally at lunchtimes as the team is focussing on the children's activities and needs during the day. We aim to add information at the earliest opportunity but we do encourage parents to call if they do want to check in on their child.

My Ohana York provide an overall excellent environment in which my child can learn, develop, and grow. There is always a wide range of activities for the children to engage in; whether that be physical - (outdoor play, dexterity, balance etc), or mental - (games, reading, recognition, etc) activities. The nursery provide a safe space for the children to socialise and learn new skills; the nursery has its own outdoor area with a range of engaging toys, play areas, and outbuildings that my child absolutely loves. The staff are all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and engaging with both the parents and the children, and we couldn't ask for more.

They are quick to contact you if anything is wrong. They are easy to get into contact with and discuss anything. They are so nice and helpful. Lots of activities for the children. A brilliant nursery, my 6 year old attended a few years ago and his confidence grew and staff was amazing, now my youngest son attends 2 days a week and I honestly can't thank the staff enough, my son's confidence has grown tremendously and he is now able to say some words which he couldn't do before. I've been given advice on help to support my son at home with his speech and told what works best for him in nursery. It is a fun and safe environment and my son is always happy and loves his nursery setting and staff. Big shout out to 2 staff members in particular, great women and are my son's safe space.
