New Moon Nursery is a privately owned nursery located in Castleford, conveniently located near junction 32 off the M62, and easily accessible from the surrounding areas.

The nursery is owned by a mother and daughter, one an early years teacher with over 16 years' experience teaching, and the other a Speech and Language Therapist Specialising in early years children.

New Moon is a small, homely nursery situated in a beautiful detached house, which also has a fantastic outdoor learning environment.

The practitioners are warm, caring and nurturing and provide an excellent standard of care for all children. Learning through high quality play and interaction is high on the agenda, in order to ensure that all children are progressing within their development.

All practitioners are fully qualified and are Paediatric First Aid trained. Continued professional development is very important to ensure that the quality of care and teaching is maintained at a excellent standard.

The nursery welcomes prospective parents to arrange a visit by phone or email.

My three grandsons all attend New Moon nursery. The staff are very friendly and welcoming when they arrive. Because of all the activities they provide all three have benefitted in their development. They also provide special activities such as music school and forest school where all the kids get involved.
They also participate in World Book Day and all the kids can dress up as their favourite character. At the end of the day the key workers give you an update on what your child has been doing that day. They provide a happy and secure environment. Definitely a nursery worth recommending.

New Moon is an absolutely fantastic nursery, my two boys love every minute they are there! The staff are absolutely fantastic and the activities and resources they set up for the children are amazing, they have so many learning opportunities and so much fun. My oldest has been there since he was 10
months old and is now almost ready for full-time school and will be so sad to leave. I would recommend New Moon to anyone and everyone

Both my children attend New Moon and the environment and brilliant staff are so caring and nurturing and have developed the kids so much in the time they have been there. The resources and activities are so imaginative and engaging and the children have such a great time in nursery, we couldn’t recommend
New Moon enough.

My little girl was a lockdown baby, and therefore, struggled to trust anyone other than myself and my wife. We started our daughter here after her first birthday, and she is now a confident baby, and we firmly believe that the nursery has helped this process. She is well cared for and entertained throughout
the day, and the girls are amazing with her. We can’t thank them enough.

Since I put my daughter in this nursery last year, she’s grown so much in confidence and developed her learning skills. The staff are amazing with her, especially her key worker. The staff are always here to help and to make you feel at ease always. My little girl loves going to nursery, and I will
be leaving her in this nursery until she is five as I love her attending New Moon Nursery. A brilliant place.

We visited a lot of nurseries but this one stood out a mile. My little girl has been going on New Moon for two years. It is such a lovely building with a real homely feeling. Her friends are like her family and it is such a positive happy environment. All of the staff are very friendly and very professional.
They are exactly who you would want to look after your children.

Would absolutely recommend New Moon nursery to any new parents. The practitioners are excellent. They have different stages for when your child gets older so they mix with the same age range. My little girl loves going there. They do so much with the children and help them develop. My little girl goes
full time and has her meals there which are all homemade (breakfast, lunch and dinner) which is a big help due to working full time. I'm so glad we choose this nursery.

We visited a few nurseries in the area and New Moon was a clear favourite. I have little ones in different age rooms and they both enjoy it. Makes going back to work so much easier knowing they are happy and well looked after.

It is so difficult when searching to find a nursery to leave your little one for the first time and trust strangers to look after them.
But we truly believe we couldn’t have picked a better nursery to send our little boy to and soon to be little girl also.
Our little boy's reaction when seeing the
staff and going into nursery speaks a thousand words and the comments he makes and stories he tells when he comes home shows just how much he loves it there which is the best feeling in the world.
The staff are so incredibly friendly, supportive and clearly love the children they look after and I wouldn’t want to send my children anywhere else.
Covid has seen us all in uncertainty but the professionalism and support the staff have given throughout lockdown especially to key workers has been second to none and they have pushed on through to do as much as they can whilst doing it as safely as they can!
The food is fantastic, freshly prepared each day on-site and a good variety too!

My child goes to this nursery, he has been going for about a year and he absolutely loves it which makes me love it. He likes one particular member of staff and is always happy in the morning to get changed and get in the car to see her. In the beginning, there were some tears but they vanished once
he got used to it. When he comes out again, he is a very happy boy. No parent could ask for more for their child.

I used New Moon Nursery for my eldest child who is now 6 and I had no doubts in sending our new baby, now 19 months.
New Moon is an amazing nursery you can trust, they go over and above in everything they do providing a homely environment, all the love your child needs and endless amounts of fun, entertainment

I've got custody of my grandson who has a developmental delay. He started nursery 6 weeks ago and wouldn't play or interact, but with the hard work from the staff he is showing small improvements. They are always friendly and I am so grateful for all their help, it has been 1st class.

What a lovely nursery, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. My little boys are happy to walk into nursery and they always leave with smiles on their faces. I really like the little extra things they do such as a Mother’s Day celebration or an open day for grandparents. The feedback you receive is

My son had previously attended a childminder, however, after the first lockdown, we decided that we would require more hours and for our son to have more of a teaching approach as well as play.
We are delighted with how he has progressed at New Moon Nursery, he is more confident talking more and enjoys
his time there. My husband and I are thrilled.

My son loves coming to nursery. He is constantly singing all the songs he sings at nursery and talking about his friends and the staff and what he has been doing. The staff are very friendly.

Always been impressed with New Moon, my son has come on leaps with the fantastic staff you have.

My son has been going since September 2020, it's an amazing place, the staff are lovely, it's a perfect setting. My son loves going, he has come on with his talking and development since he has been going here. I would recommend this nursery to everyone who's got children.

Our daughter has been attending New Moon Nursery for nearly 2 years now, she goes 3 full days a week and loves it, we never have any trouble with getting her to go in, she's always happy to go. Her day is varied and she's able to do activities independently if she chooses to or with her bubble. Since
Covid restrictions began New Moon management and staff have handled everything so well, we're kept well informed and feel our daughter is in safe hands.
Meals are varied and choice is great.
She's always greeted with a smile every morning and I feel she is genuinely cared about by the staff as are all the children.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, and we are kept up to date with her development and learning.
We are so glad we made the decision to send her to New Moon and would recommend it to all parents.

We provide high-quality daycare for children aged 0-5 years. Our ethos is to provide a homely environment so your child feels at home from the start of their journey with us.


I have worked at New Moon since it opened in 2010. I became the Nursery Manager in 2014, where I developed my knowledge in child care and became qualified to level 5.


I have a passion for working with children and adore being the Manager at New Moon, it gives me the opportunity to see children grow and thrive within our environment, learning and developing to the best of their individual ability.


Our children are our future and they require a calm, loving and nurturing environment with opportunities to learn and as many varied experiences that we can provide for them in order to secure their foundations in their Early Years.

Working with children has always been my life goal since leaving school in 1998. I went straight on to get my level 3 qualification and have always worked with children ever since. In 2014 I moved from the Midlands to West Yorkshire and found my forever Nursery... New Moon. I started out as a Nursery Nurse and worked my way up to being Deputy Manager. This is the position I adore the most it has allowed me to get to know all the children from all the rooms rather than being based in just one room. This position has also allowed me to be creative and help implement a vision of how we want our setting to be and the ethos we have for each and every child that we care for.
