East Barnet Day Nursery and Preschool is located in a charming character building near Oak Hill Park, offering care and early education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. The nursery team is qualified, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting every child’s development. With opening hours from 7:30am to 6:30pm and an onsite buggy park, the nursery is ideal for busy families. It’s conveniently situated near Arnos Grove and Southgate stations, and close to Monkfrith Primary School.

Bright Horizons’ Nurture Approach underpins the nursery’s ethos, creating a safe and supportive space for children to grow. The Bright Beginnings Curriculum blends hands-on learning with emotional wellbeing, confidence, and curiosity - preparing children for school and beyond.
The baby room (3 to 18 months) offers sensory resources, a milk kitchen, and a separate sleep area. Toddlers (18 months to 2 years 6 months) enjoy a bright space with reading corners and low-level activities. Both my children have attended the nursery since she was 9 months and have had the most wonderful experience. They are happy to go in each morning and excited to see the staff and their friends. They come home full of stories about their adventures and the delicious food they have eaten. The staff are
so warm and friendly and my children have learnt so much from being at this nursery.

My son has been at the nursery/preschool for three years, and I can genuinely say that he has received the best support, care and affection. I have loved watching his relationships flourish with each of his key care workers, and I have always felt 100% confident leaving him in their care. Thank you

We have been with this nursery for the last 3.5 years and my second child has now joined. Both children are very happy and have good relationships with the staff. The management team are always prompt in their response to queries and supportive/cooperative.


The outside area is secure and a lovely

space for all the children to enjoy.

I absolutely love this nursery. My son has been going since he was 2. The teachers are all amazing and all the staff are so lovely and patient and kind. I always say to my friends and family that I wish this could be his primary school too as I don’t want him to leave. He’s so happy there. I feel safe
every day knowing that he is in the best of hands and enjoying his days at Bright Horizons.

Both of my children have been looked after by the East Barnet team, from babies until pre-school, and I can genuinely say they have received the greatest love, support, care and attention, and had lots of fun along the way.


We value the contribution to each child's personality and development that

each room's staff (and not forgetting the kitchen team!) has given.


Having been at the nursery for the past 6 years, we have seen the teamwork to create and deliver a caring, nurturing and educative environment with every visit, in a super space for little ones to play and enjoy.

Our son was only at the nursery for a short time, however, it has still been a great experience for him. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. We have been very impressed by all the interactions and care given. We wish we had got him into the preschool sooner. He has really enjoyed his time here

The whole team were so great! They really tried to help my son settle in as quickly as possible. They were great in catering to his sometimes fussy food choices. The staff were amazing in keeping in contact and reassuring us if we left our son at nursery upset. All the team in the toddler room were
so caring and really felt my son's emotions were catered to. I'm just sad he didn't get a chance to stay at nursery longer! Thanks so much.

I have always been very happy with the care my son receives at nursery, he is very cheery when I collect him and keen to go in the mornings - a dream for any parent who has to send their child to nursery. He has recently moved on from the Toddler 1 room and on leaving we were given a book reporting
on his development, I showed this to a health visitor at his 2-year assessment, she had never seen such a good record of a child’s progress and described it as an excellent example. I am pleased to say my daughter is currently also doing well and being looked after perfectly in the baby room and I look forward to her and my son’s continued progression through the nursery.

Myself and my partner came in with our child for the parents learning day. We enjoyed spending time in the room and he particularly enjoyed playing in the sand tray. When he wanted to do some drawing, we selected a basket with some pencils and paper. However, there was only a few pencils in there, they
were unsharpened and looked very old and haggard, so could not be used. So a range of mark making resources could possibly benefit the children? Also, our son enjoys painting and exploring creative resources at home and I don't seem to see any activities like this set up.
Overall, I'm happy with the nursery but feel some of the resources need updating considering what parents pay.

The staff are all very welcoming and warm. No such thing as a bad day. My son runs down the road to get to school quicker and when seeing the team is very happy.
Management is also helpful but admin takes time. This could be centrally monitored.
Kitchen team meals are well prepared and exceptionally
tasty. Not a bad word to say!

The quality of care provided is fantastic. Children are given the individual attention they require in a very supportive and caring environment.
My son is very happy at this nursery as was my daughter and I'm lucky to have this facility available to me.
The staff are also always ready to listen

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Gemma, the Nursery Manager, has been working in Early Years Education for twelve years. She first obtained a Level 3 qualification in childcare before advancing to university, where she earned a degree in Education Studies.


Her passion lies in providing the best possible outcomes for the next generation. She finds great fulfilment in helping children develop through their learning journeys and supporting them in their next steps. Gemma joined Bright Horizons at the beginning of 2017 as a Room Leader and progressed through various managerial roles before being promoted to Nursery Manager.


She looks forward to welcoming families to the nursery and supporting them throughout their experience.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Charlene is the Deputy Manager at Bright Horizons East Barnet. She began her journey with the company as a housekeeper, and it wasn’t long before she discovered a true passion for early years education. After completing her Level 3 qualification in childcare, Charlene quickly progressed to a Third in Charge role and soon after was promoted to Deputy Manager.


She is incredibly proud of how far she has come and is deeply committed to providing the best possible start for every child in the setting. Charlene is passionate about creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where children can thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning. She also takes great pride in supporting families and leading a dedicated team to deliver high-quality care and education.
