My daughter has loved her time at Pied Piper. The carers are all very warm and interested in the children and they have great fun. The facilities were updated a couple of years ago and the rooms are all perfect for child-led play. Great use of outdoor space - both at the nursery, and with trips to the
park etc. Management is always professional and understanding of family needs. There is a genuine desire to hear from parents and continuously improve the experience for everyone.
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryIt has been a pleasure getting to know your child and her wider family. Your support over the years with the updated nursery improvements has been much appreciated. It is lovely to hear you value our wonderful team's involvement in your child’s learning. Our aim has always been to develop strong parent partnerships and with the support of our parents, we also strive to be the best we can be.

My son has attended Pied Piper since he was two and he’s now transitioning into Primary school. The staff are exceptional. I can’t even begin with this one. When my child enrolled, he was in the process of being diagnosed with Autism. The nursery has been a few steps ahead and set out a plan for my
child with our involvement. They accommodate his sensory needs and his key workers have all been so lovely and welcoming and I know they genuinely care for my son. The headteacher is absolutely lovely and very approachable and open to feedback which I love.

There have been a few hiccups over the years but they’ve always been receptive to feedback. More recently they promoted an existing staff member (who was my child’s key worker and also trained in makaton) into a SEN point of contact for the nursery which I think is a great step forward and necessary to make the environment inclusive. My child is very happy when he goes to nursery and my mind is at rest when he’s there.

Reply from Carrie LLoyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryWe are humbled to have been a strong network of support for you and the family. It really highlights the importance of trusting and open relationships in order to reach the same goals. It was important for us to select the correct key worker in order for him to feel safe and secure within his already familiar routine. It has been a lovely journey to share with the whole family and we know his transition to school will mirror the existing care plan strategies already in place. He is the master of his own learning and knows he will benefit from the next challenge of school provision!

Fantastic nursery. The staff go out of their way to meet the children’s individual needs. We’ve been delighted with how the team there has settled our son and is now working to develop him. The nursery is always coming up with interesting ways for the children to play and learn - we’ve been so impressed
by our whole experience.
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryIt is lovely to hear how satisfied you are with the care and support your child receives within our inclusive environment. It is important for us that we work in collaboration with our parents to support our children’s individual needs through educational learning. Our environment allows your child to develop their interests through an invitation to play within a free-flow environment.

This is an excellent nursery. The team are so friendly and caring. They take time to get to know you and your baby. I cannot rate it highly enough. They do activities every day with the babies. They take them outside daily. They feed them breakfast, lunch and a good snack in the afternoon so they are
not too hungry when they are picked up. I am thrilled with how well it is going since we started. They are very happy to use cloth nappies. They use the family app so you know what your child has to eat and how much they sleep and reply to messages very quickly. I would recommend.
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryThank you for your valued feedback and we are grateful to hear you share our same values for the care of children within our nursery as we do. It is lovely to hear you are very supportive towards our famly app and glad you find the response time reassuring. We are looking forward to developing further parental relationships with our families.

Both my sons attend Pied Piper. It’s a lovely nursery. We chose it for its homely feel. The boys are well looked after and have both been very happy here.

The staff have done an incredible job during Covid too. The nursery has put in place high standards which have kept people feeling safe and

reassured. I highly recommend it.
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryThank you for your valued feedback. It has been a pleasure developing positive partnerships with you, the boys and their wider family. The boys have settled well into Nursery and they have developed friendships well with their peers. We have our parents to thank for following our Covid guidelines and are delighted your family have felt safe and nurtured during the pandemic. We will look forward to planning for our 2022 graduation for your eldest child. Best wishes, Carrie and the team.

We put our daughter into Pied Piper quite young (I believe she was 4.5 months). They were able to adapt to our set schedules for her since day one. Now she is a thriving 1-year-old and we couldn't be more pleased. We believe Pied Piper has a lot to do with her solid physical and mental development and
of course her socialisation skills - which is key with a pandemic baby! Sadly, we are moving abroad so we will have to say goodbye to Pied Piper and its lovely staff. That's what prompted me to write this review, as I remember it was this set of reviews that guided me to them in the first place. Highly recommend! Lovely staff, tons of activities/themed days, emphasis on outdoor play, great communication on the nursery app.
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryIt has been a privilege getting to know all the family and supporting your little one to settle into Nursery successfully. We have loved facilitating next steps for your daughter and supporting her through her developmental milestones. Your little one is beginning to develop her social skills and we have no doubt that she will settle in just lovely into her new nursery and develop new friendships. All the best, Pied Piper team.

Excellent nursery with standout staff who go above and beyond to look after our daughter. They put a lot of thought into how the kids learn and have fun. We've really seen our wee girl grow in confidence since starting there.

I would highly recommend and could not fault Pied Piper Nursery. Our son, born during lockdown, was not used to being away from me and I was reluctant and worried about leaving him with anyone, including family, never mind in a nursery with people we didn’t know. Being my third child I had of course
done my research and on paper, this nursery ticked all the boxes and stood out from the crowd as a stand-alone winner. My expectations were exceeded! The warm welcome from day one, the care, dedication, patience, support all the staff provide to the children and parents is second to none. My son settled in nicely allowing me to go to work worry-free. He has been at the nursery for 6 months now and absolutely loves it. The staff are out of this world. It is a clean, safe and supportive environment and he is encouraged to be kind, bold and confident. I love the updates and photos we receive via the app giving us parents peace of mind. Thank you for all that you do for our children!
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryWe are very grateful for your kind words and aim to ensure our settling-in process reflects our core values to ensure a sense of place and a child-centred approach. We strive to reassure all parents have up to date notifications of their child’s day, keeping them up to date with their child’s progress. We have loved welcoming your child and their close family to our setting and looking forward to seeing your son develop his confidence whilst at Pied Piper Nursery.

Cannot recommend Pied Piper nursery highly enough. Having relocated from London with 2 boys (2 and 4) we were hoping to find the right nursery to support our children with the transition and to provide a calm and fun environment for them to develop, grow and make friends in. We have found the staff
wonderful - supportive, kind, patient and calm, with lots of fun activities and imaginative themes and events across their time so far. Our 4 year old only came for one month before transferring to primary school, but still talks about the staff and is always keen to visit when we collect his younger brother. They both looked forward to going to nursery which is fantastic. Compared to other nurseries we have attended, the management is in our opinion, the best we have come across - calm, organised, adaptive and personal and this appears to filter down to all staff and our children's experience. Feel very glad to have found such a great nursery and would recommend to children of all ages.
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryThank you very much for your kind feedback. We have loved working in partnership with you to engage in a successful transition together. It is lovely to hear your eldest child received such a positive transition and this has allowed him to disconnect from our setting and connect in a new setting based on his emotional resilience. It has been lovely getting to know your child and his wider family. It has been a privilege watching them develop their confidence, social interactions and grow within a new environment.

Both our sons attended Pied Piper from a young age, and our youngest is now about to start school. We liked the nursery immediately as it felt warm and homely, and the staff were very welcoming. Over the years both our children have loved attending nursery and there has been a good balance of fun, and
getting the children ready for school. Our boys have formed some lovely friendships at nursery, and have always been well supported by the staff. There have been a lot of improvements to the garden and playrooms over the last couple of years which are great, but ultimately the staff are the most important part of a nursery and they are outstanding. I was diagnosed with cancer when both our boys were at nursery - knowing how well they were looked after took a huge weight off my mind while I was going through treatment. The nursery has been a big part of our lives for several years; I will miss it and would thoroughly recommend it to other parents.

The new management has been in place for 2 years and it has been great to see the new investment and experiences that have been put on offer.

I highly recommend Pied Piper Nursery. We have been delighted with the care that our son has had at Pied Piper over the past 21 months. The staff in the Baby and Toddler rooms have been amazing and very welcoming. Throughout the pandemic, the Toddler room staff have kept us informed and updated at all
times, sharing lovely pictures via the app. The rooms look fantastic following their refurbishment and renovations in 2019/2020. The manager and staff have been of great assistance when my wife and I have had to change arrangements at short notice. I always leave the nursery at ease, knowing that my son is in safe hands.
Reply from Carrie Lloyd, Nursery Manager at Pied Piper NurseryThank you very much for your kind words. It has been a pleasure looking after your little one. The team strive to engage in communication with the parents to promote trusting relationships and the team have all been very sensitive towards children transitioning from room to room, particularly under the current situation. The refurbishment has definitely captured new areas of interest for our children with the provision of the new layout and resources. We have been so fortunate to work in partnership with you and your family also. Many thanks from the team here at Pied Piper Nursery.

Once the restrictions eased in March we were keen to have our little boy start nursery but equally a little anxious as to how he would settle after a very strange last year and having spent little to no time with other children or away from us, his parents. I have been delighted with how well he’s settled
in thanks to the brilliant staff at Pied Piper Nursery. He’s always laughing and smiling when I pick him up, telling me about what’s he’s been up to that day, the projects they’re working on, the songs, the stories they’ve read, pictures painted or games in the garden. The other day he came running out shouting “that was so much fun!” Well done to all the staff! Fantastic nursery!

My son is currently in the preschool room at Pied Piper Nursery and my daughter is in the baby room. Both children love the nursery and are happy and content there. The nursery building itself is a warm and welcoming place, with fun and laughter all around. The staff are fabulous, always very helpful,
kind and caring. Our family particularly likes the family app, it is a safe and secure way to get daily updates and pictures of our children as they enjoy their nursery day. This allows us to see when our children have had naps and what they are enjoying for their lunch. I would highly recommend Pied Piper Nursery to any parent looking for that special place for their child or children to grow and learn.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.626)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.626) out of 10 for Pied Piper Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.903 for Pied Piper Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (131 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 144 Ratings = 4.903
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.723 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pied Piper Nursery is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 number of registered child places is 13. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.923
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
